There's Never A Flying House Round When You Need One

The case of that 20-something chef accused of rape by a vengeful femiloon is truly terrifying. Can you imagine waking up next to a 45 year old lawyer? As I understand it, he first realised he was in trouble when she told him 'I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too'.

Of course, the fact the jury came back with a not guilty verdict after 45 minutes does raise an important question: what the hell were they discussing for the other 44 minutes? Whether counsel for the prosecution was on the other bus or what?

Then again, never mind the jury: what thought process convinced the CPS that this case was a runner? Isn't the whole point of an independent prosecutor that there has to be an actual case before charges can be bought?

Ah nope - apparently the case was handled by two 'rape specialists' - so in the femiloon-infested Bizarro World of the public sector an independent prosecutor means a pair of Milli Tants. What could go wrong? Oh right: 45 minutes.

Hmmm.... doesn't this all kind of imply the 'rape specialists' are kind of rubbish at their jobs? Doubtless, they will be fired ASAP. Well, either that, or their job involves green lighting any old rubbish, in which case I ask - again - where's Universal Shami when real rights are being denied?

Yes, I'm serious: an independent prosecuting authority is a vital safeguard against governmental persecution. The government ordering the CPS to suspend their normal criteria for prosecution really is an abuse of power - a real one, not just a made up one no one noticed until 1997 - so how come the usual suspects can't drag themselves away from defending the mad bomber to speak out for actual citizens?

....

Yep, I think the clue is in the question there.

Meanwhile, the femiloons are struggling with the difficult concept of 'evidence'. Also, the whole 'free press' thing.

Hey, I'm guessing that if the public is sceptical of many rape claims that might have less to do with the media reporting stuff that, y'know, actually happened, and more with femiloons all but claiming that even if the complainant is a card-carrying wackjob, the man should be found guilty anyway, or the rapists will have won. Still, nice to see them outing themselves as the man-hating loons we always knew they were.

Maybe I'm being too harsh? Maybe they're just over-enthusiastic? Except... how come they're more enraged by pretendey rapes invented by a fantasist than the police hobbling the investigation into a real rape?

So, for those of you keeping score at home, here it is: made up rapes = enraged femiloons, police running interference for an actual rapist = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Never mind the bigotry and the dishonesty: their biggest problem is that they are completely nutso.

All of which leads to another important issue here. Here we have a lawyer who doesn't actually understand the law, so are we still misogynists if we think the silly hag should be fired? Ditto, the rape not so specialists at the CPS. For that matter, what about the charmers at the 'F Word'? Doesn't the....

Ah no: I've just read the bit at the bottom of their 'convict him anyway' page. Their blog is a 'safe and friendly space for feminists and feminist allies'... where they can accuse innocent men of rape. Now, isn't that just modern life in microcosm? Feminazi hag demons give full vent to their unhinged ideology but anyone who argues with them is oppressing them (ker-ching!).

This is why the country's so screwed up. Thanks to years of affirmative action and PC companies have been forced to hire useless loonies and everyone has to pretend they're anything other than dead weight. Really, given the choice, who the hell would hire the Wicked Witch of Winchester?

"Random"

Who knows? The next one could be crazed Buddhists.

Liberals 4 Self-Defence

Hey, who knew? Turns out liberals are all for using force to defend your home and family after all. Well, they are under certain, special circumstances.

Other folk aren't as lucky.

So, for those of you keeping score at home, we have a guy leaving the safety of his house to attack someone who might threaten him, should he succeed in breaking in, who uses a knife on an unarmed man, stabbing him multiple times, including in the back. By my count that's a least four points the CPS would use to try and hang Joe Public, but the legal establishment does all but offer to clean the knife for him. Meanwhile, using a weapon on a steroid-enhanced thug with a record of violent insanity and a penchant for going round tooled up results in the government bending over backwards to try and get a conviction, plus when the inevitable happens, they get all snippy:
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Atkinson, the senior investigating officer, said.. “We would urge anyone who feels under threat in a situation like this one to contact police at the earliest opportunity and not take the law into their own hands.
So shooting someone who's actually broken in is taking the law into your own hands, but charging out the house to go all Norman Bates on some drunk guy who's murdered a window? That gets this:
They said Mr Bunglawala called the police when he became aware that the man had got into a porch area and was kicking the front door, breaking a window in the process.

The lawyers say their client then got a knife in an attempt to scare off the man.

Last week, the Crown Prosecution Service said Mr Bunglawala had no case to answer.

Mr Bunglawala had good reason to fear, not only for his own safety but for that of his wife and children.
At least he only used a knife instead of something really dangerous, like an airgun. For that matter, at least Tony Martin shot a member of a whole gang of felons who had actually broken into his house. On the other hand, the prospect of some law-abiding guy getting a little lost after too much Vitamin XXX and being sliced and diced by a vigilante householder is exactly the type of case liberals always wheel out to prove the public can't be trusted to defend themselves.

Hey, I'm all for libs finally acknowledging that there is something completely bonkers about laws that require householders to actually wait until scumbags have forced their way into their home, before allowing them to apply a carefully calibrated use of force, ceasing immediately the assailant is neutralised, but instinct tells me there's a little something else going on here.

Labour: Hereditary Lords, No! Hereditary MPs, Yes!

The most impressive thing about both main parties holding a fire sale of their principles is that they've both managed to pick up only the worst aspects of their opponents. That's how we ended up with Tories that denounce the productive sector while singing the praises of the public sector gravy train. Meanwhile, we have a People's Party where people resign from public office to spend less time with their family.

Hmmmmm.... I guess 'diversity' has its limits after all. I'm also sure that giving your little poppet a safe seat for her birthday is pretty much the antithesis of socialism.

Liberal Heroism: Like A Man Throwing Himself On A Live Grenadine

Oooooh, get her!
The Judge told them: 'It would be very easy for me, and there are many that would congratulate me, if I locked you up for as long as I could.'
See, that: boldly standing up in the face of the lynch mob. Truly, he's the Atticus Finch of Teeside.

But wait... who exactly are these people he's defying? Anyone - anyone at all -in his social circle? Or able to influence his life in any way?

Nada. The only thing that guy's risking is developing a bruise on the back from all his fellow hipster trash congratulating him on his courage in standing up to the vulgar Daily Mail-reading masses and their horribly unnuanced views on crime and punishment (i.e. that one should follow the other).

Liberalism is bad enough on first principles without having to listen to members of our incestuous elite hailing their own heroism in standing up to the guy in the street.

He's Doing The Job The British Just Won't Do

Mind you, someone should tell him he's in the wrong party.

I'll See Your Hag And Raise You A Skank

NNW points to a charming example of British womanhood. She's quite a hag, but I can beat that. Check it out. Dr H and pals give her the treatment, so I've got nothing to add except to say that I loved this bit:
But, seriously, if a man takes a risk [of having sex], he has to face the consequences.
Huh? Surely she's not saying men should be 'punished with a baby'?

And thus was refuted the myth that feminism had produced a generation of spoilt princesses.

The Process Is The Punishment (Part 2404)

Hey, remember those evvvvvvvil raycists who abused innocent 'Asian' anti-war activists in Luton? Well, you never guess guess but....

Yep, released without charge. Which is to say arrested on bogus grounds, put through the mill, smeared in the press, then released just as soon as our PC PCs have to front up with some evidence. Who'd have thunk it?

Equally shocking: the same MSM which supplies us with the names of folks who aren't actually guilty of anything at all, are kind of coy when reporting on the possible motivations of rioting scumbags. Clearly, they must be a Mob of No Appearance. True, the distinctly non-diverse mob in the photo does hint at the truth, as does the cringingly dhimmi response from the Head, but from the MSM reporting you'd think the teacher in question was a Mathematician of No Affiliation. Guess his lessons must have been a real blast, eh?

This Week's 'National Curriculum Still Not Full Enough' Story

After years of ostentatious non-judgementalism, liberal educrats have finally found an issue where the morality is absolute. Yep: it's the war on chocolate. Actually, I think they've got a point, they really are teaching the kids a valuable lesson, namely the difference between liberals and conservatives. Hey, kids, not only do we not rob your sweeties, we think it should be legal to shoot anyone who does.

Still, you have to say this: it certainly throws the achievements of Ronaldus Magnus into sharp relief. In 1980, still deep in the Cold War, we lived with the possibility of millions of Marxist savages storming westwards, then suddenly the stoppidy-stoopid B-movie actor got elected and now Marxists are reduced to taking candy from babies.

Short summary: Marxists wanted to conquer Western Europe, but now they have to settle for seizing the Galaxy instead. Also, the Twix and the Kit-Kats. They're not against all chocolates though - in fact, the management appears to be 99% Flakes. Here's the Hag-in-Chief herself:
Headmistress Deborah Metcalf said: 'We were finding that some children could be bringing in crisps, a Mars bar and can of Coke with their lunches. This stance is trying to work with parents to provide a healthy meal for their children.'
Yes, seizing other people's property in order to try and conscript their children into your hippy-dippy, New Age junk science cult counts as working with parents, much as the guy with a machete and a balaclava works with passers-by to re engineer their financial arrangements.

But let's just take time-out to check the scorecard here: liberal educrats claim educayshun is kind of like brain surgery, but extra hard, and so no one who hasn't spent at least year smoking pot studying education at a teacher training college can possibly have any useful input. On the other hand, it turns out fitness and nutrition are so easy even semi-literates who've never held down a real job and couldn't give you the formula for ice can decide what every one else should eat. Makes you wonder why Arsenal make such a song and dance about it all, right?

Of course, that leads on to the other factor. Back in the day, we could eat just about anything without weight being an issue. Hey, it's almost like there's some other factor that's missing....

But that's the thing. Horrible liberal hags screech about the dangers of obesity, but when it comes to the one thing that always works to get rid of fat? Nope, things are bad, but not bad enough to justify actual exercise.

Hmmmm... is it just me, or are other people beginning to suspect that it isn't really about health, after all. Hey, not only do predictions of an Impending Fatocalyspse make the whole Global Warming thing look like hard science, at least Al Gore doesn't have an enormous CO2-eating machine sitting unused in his loft (For the benefit of any teachers reading this, CO2 is the chemical formula for carbon dioxide).

As with the other example Julie points out, liberals seem to have adopted the belief that the law is a Lamarckian project, growing new nodules as the need arises. People flying airliners into buildings was one thing, but kids eating chocolate? Suddenly, it turns out that the whole 'human rights' thing is a bit of a drag after all....

Yes, I know what you're thinking: can we stop with the incessant whining about racial profiling at airports if we use teachers to search the lunatics dressed as Osama Bin Laden? It's a tempting thought, but the terrorists might be offended by their extremist anti-western views.

After all, it's not just the appalling governmental thuggery on display here. There's also the terrible science. Eating chocolate at 10 years old can make you fat in later life? Huh? How does that work? Really: these people should be locked in a small room until they can come up with a plausible mechanism to explain how chocolate bars ingested in 2009 can suddenly re materialise in the gut in 2025. Where does it go in between?

Nope, fat thirty-somethings got that way because of what they're doing now, not what they did back in the Reagan years. Losing weight isn't that hard: eat less, exercise more, except now the debate has been hijacked by screechy dimbulbs like Deborah Metcalf, trying to use it to download their frustrations at being going-nowhere, idiot losers. Enough already: there is nothing in a whole truck load of Yorkie bars quite as toxic or liable to lead to failure as letting Junior be influenced by these worthless members of Britain's self-selecting underclass.

Dangerous Extremist Captured!

I'm thinking the threat to free speech isn't coming from the right....

Like I said, police officers deciding whether or not to arrest people depending on what particular views they're espousing is pretty much 180' to any rational concept of 'free speech'.

On the plus side, at least they're concentrating on the really dangerous individuals, instead of harmless eccentrics like this guy.

Steyn D'Jour

Steyn with more reasons why Cameronism sucks:
A “social liberal/fiscal conservative” is not necessarily a girly-man, more of a pre-op transsexual. It would be nice to be able to have it both ways, like that so-called “pregnant man” out on the West Coast — and, incidentally, didn’t Ahnuld play a pregnant man in some movie a decade or so back? Why, so he did: Junior. I remember the poster, the leading man with a swollen belly — like a girly-man governor about to give birth to a big bloated budget. The problem with being “socially liberal, fiscally conservative” is that most of the social liberalism comes with quite a price tag — just have a ten-minute riffle through the non-stimulus bill....

BBC: Fantasy Oppression > Real Oppression

The BBC was up to its usual tricks on the Jeremy Vine Show today. They had a debate about those jovial 'anti-war protesters' in Luton or, more specifically, about whether or not they should have the right to protest in the first place.

I keed! I keed!

As if the BBC would ever 'debate' anything. The bases were loaded right from the start, with a full-on Islamofascist on one side, while on the other side there was.... another Muslim. So let me get this right: when someone is accused of 'Islamophobia' the BBC interview a Muslim, and when Muslims are accused of Infidelophobia, the BBC interviews a Muslim. A-huh.

Needless to say, not once during the debate did the host feel obliged to mention the name 'Geert Wilders' or the approximately one bazillion 'hate speech' prosecutions in Britain. To the point, did the people who opposed the Jihadist's right to scream abuse at the troops really hate free speech, or they did they just want the law to be applied equally?

Which is where the biggest, fattest bias came in. Unless you were listening closely you wouldn't have picked up that two people were arrested at the demonstration, and you certainly wouldn't know they were people counter-demonstrating. That's the real issue.

You can call for restrictions on free speech or you can call for a First Amendment free for all, there are arguments either way, but what we have here was people allowed to scream abuse at their fellow citizens, while police officers arrested anyone who exercised their right to dissent. There is no objective criteria by which you can judge screaming abuse at soldiers to be 'free speech' but counter-protesting to be 'hate speech'. In so far as the police were discriminating between different groups of demonstrators based purely on the views they were expressing, this was the antithesis of free speech.

Of course, it's no wonder the BBC doesn't see the danger in police officers arresting people for being too harsh on Islamofascists. After all, it's not like that's going to affect anyone at the BBC, is it?

National Curriculum Still Not Full Enough

In so far as teachers are always claiming to be overworked, it's funny how there's always time for this stuff:
Parents face possible court action for withdrawing their children from lessons on gay and lesbian history.

More than 30 pupils were pulled out of a week of teaching at a primary school which included books about homosexual partnerships.
Don't be shocked, but it tends to a little more than this for liberals to act normally:
From September 2001 to February this year, the court was told, the older daughter, Emma, had attended only 55 out of 190 school registrations - a 29% record.

Her younger sister attended 64 of 190 school sessions - a 34% attendance rate.
Never mind what liberals are doing to the world - consider what they're doing to the English language:
A spokesman for Waltham Forest Council said: ‘As part of the borough’s policy of promoting tolerance in our schools, children are taught that everyone in our society is of equal value.
Everyone's of equal value but only some are equal enough to be given public money and classroom time to indoctrinate the kids, plus if you object you're some kind of fascist, and they'll use the power of the state to persecute you.

I'd let all this go except this case neatly undercuts two of the more absurd principles of Cameronism.

No one's benefited more from Cameron's obsession with 'reaching out' to minority groups than the special people. The Dave did all but announce plans to make Kylie's birthday a bank holiday, all in the belief that these people were just ready to jump onboard just as soon as those horrible socio-cons were exorcised. Hey, how's that worked out?

Well, here's a brutal piece of governmental thuggery being carried out on their behalf, so why aren't the usual suspects out there chanting 'Not In My Name'? Usual disclaimer applies - no one's expecting crimpers to throw down their tongs and rush out into the street, but how about the folks who are always raging about the Pope? More specifically, how about the pretendey-cons? Doesn't conservatism have something to say about schools being hijacked by ideologically driven nuts and used to undermine parents? Anything at all?

Ditto, the other Deep Thought of (or possibly rationalisation for) Cameronism, namely the idea that everything else is just a distraction from winning seats in the house. Suppose the Tories do win a majority? What then? This case is a glimpse of the future.

The law already allows parents to withdraw their children from religious and sex education, but the school decided to get round it by classifying these lessons - gay penguins and all - as history. That's a lesson right there. The Tories can do whatever they want in Westminister, but out in the country they're going to run up against people like this sticking two fingers up to the clearly expressed will of Parliament.

The choices for the Tories are to embrace full-on Cameronism and accept, at best, Parliament engaging in an endless game of Whack-A-Mole to try and plug each and every loophole that allows teachers to push their own loopy agenda or, alternatively, to fight the culture war. After all, why should activist loonies be able to use public money to pursue their own nutbunny agenda? More to the point, how did conservatism get so beat down that this is even an issue?

Well, I can't be sure about the answer to that last question, but I'm guessing the answer involves years of proto-Cameronesque triangulation. Well, enough already. Conservatives can either have the Tories in power but not in office, passing ineffectual legislation for the activists to samba around, or they take these loonies on. There is no third way.

Cooo-ee! Liberals, Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are!

Hmmm... back when I first pointed out how the BBC was refusing to cover the full story behind the murder of Robert Knox, the usual suspects in the comments at B-BBC claimed that, gosh darn it, the BBC's crack newshounds were chomping at the bit to report the full story, but they were hog-tied by the fact the trial was on-going.

Never mind that - to take but two cases - Anthony Walker was barely cold before the BBC labelled his death racially-motivated, nor that for weeks after the shooting of Rhys Jones, you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing Beeboids speculating about the role of gang culture. That was different.

Well, Beeboids, I got some good news for you: it's over! So have at it. Time for the reporters to start checking out the word on the street, putting the story in context, running down leads... y'know, all that stuff journalists do

You, Not Them

Laban suspects that the central insanity of liberaliam is its Rousseauesque belief that man is naturally good. When the inevitable head-on impact with reality occurs, liberal governments find themselves forced to become more and more authoritarian, in order to make a silk purse out of a philosophical sow's ear

It's a tempting thought, but with a couple of problems. There's the obvious flaw that the split is not really a left/right one. I can't see the Great Frank falling for all this garbage. On the other hand, man being prevented from achieving true greatness by the dead hand of society. Hmmmmm.... who does that sound like?

Personally, I think this ideology is best described as 'hipsterism' - a train wreck fusion of the worst aspects of liberalism and libertarianism. Think of them as people who break into your house, shoot your dog then claim the state made them do it.

The other, bigger problem is this: they might think you are a blank slate, but that just proves you need the guiding hand of supa-smart people, like what they is.

For proof of this consider their new baby seals. Large parts of the hipster movement have spent years explaining how Che or Blackbeard were really martyrs to true freedom, but even they can't think of anything positive to say about paedophiles. Nope, it's all about how the anti-paedophile movement is, like, kind of chavvy, and they're all a mobby mob, and most of them don't even own iPhones, and... blah, blah, blah.

There are no actual arguments there, we never find out why they believe what they claim to believe, even in the teeth of all the evidence. We're just supposed to take it on trust that the mark of true genius is to find the nuance in child rape - well, that and if you can't, you're a stoopidy-stoopid prole.

So it goes for huge swathes of modern culture. Crucifix in urine? Are you saying that's not art, Mr Moron T Moron? Trying to recover from an unsustainable credit binge by loosening up credit? Obviously the right thing to do. Then there's...

No, the Rosseau thing is purely tactical. They get to sneer at Dullsville conservatives with their dreary 'morals', objective standards and all the other things our new aristocracy lacks. Instead, we're supposed to take their sneering, eye-rolling contempt for everyone that isn't a member of their incestuous, self-referential cult as somehow proof of superior intelligence.

We're being governed by a high school clique writ large. And things are screwed up? Really? Who'd have thunk it?

A Very Special Episode Of BBC Bias

When I first heard about this, I just assumed someone had screwed up and produced an episode that actually reflected the demographics of the East End after years of open borders. But no: it's the BBC fighting racism by ethnically cleansing the natives, except....
The corporation refused to say if the writers for the episode were black and said many people contribute to the story-lines of EastEnders episodes.
Now, is that modern liberalism in a nutshell or what? The jokes write themselves - and they'd have to, because these guys aren't going to. Debate is not their thing, instead we get this:
When Chelsea quizzed Trueman, played by Rudolph Walker, he reflected on the racism he encountered when he first arrived in Britain.

At one stage he said things have improved for black people in Britain and there is less racism.

But Chelsea questioned: 'Have they? It's still there, though. It might not be as obvious as it once was, but we all know.'
See? Even when there's no evidence of racism that just proves it's really well-hidden racism. This is, as the geeks would say, completely unfalsifiable. Absence of evidence turns out to be evidence too. It's also kind of familiar:
But what was strange was that although Goldstein was hated and despised by everybody, although every day and a thousand times a day, on platforms, on the telescreen, in newspapers, in books, his theories were refuted, smashed, ridiculed, held up to the general gaze for the pitiful rubbish that they were - in spite of all this, his influence never seemed to grow less. Always there were fresh dupes waiting to be seduced by him. A day never passed when spies and saboteurs acting under his directions were not unmasked by the Thought Police. He was the commander of a vast shadowy army, an underground network of conspirators dedicated to the overthrow of the State
This is the logic of a cult. More to the point,it is the very definition of partial broadcasting. I guess we're all supposed to hail the BBC's crusading zeal (uh, can we still say that) even as the self-same people tie themselves in knots denying the BBC has an agenda.

Like I keep saying, as biased as the BBC's reporting is, it's nothing to what they try and get away with once they don't even have to pretend to be factual. Of course, liberals do have to try and force their little messages down our throat during their girly plays - reality is not kind to them.

Lone Comedian Better Informed Than The BBC

Can we send him our licence fees instead?

You know, you have to question an ideology whose adherents are enraged by anyone quoting it accurately.

OK, Libs, You Win!

....the Stephen Lawrence train wreck proves the police are institutionally racist. So what does this prove?

Princess Di Found Alive!

The chattering class can sneer all they want about the Jade Goody thing, but at least she's actually dying of cancer, not just claiming to have died eleventy times, but got better.

Extreme Extremists Being Extreme

Hey, how come whenever the political class has a girly tantrum about extremism, it's never about the guys who take a nuanced position on mass murder?

Of course, there is something else. As Stan points out, it's not just that the political establishment is losing the battle of ideas, it's that they're not even fighting there. Look at The Dave: he's reaching out to C2 married couples in the East Midlands, gays who work in the service industries and Blacks who wear hats and don't watch 'The X-Factor', but in amongst all these targeted messages and niche marketing, where's the substance?

Beat Him Again!

Never underestimate the ability of liberals to miss the point:
It is grossly unfair that your wealth dictates the standard of education you can give your children. Anyone who cannot afford to go private should not have to tolerate an under-funded state educational system that seemingly puts more emphasis on sex education and media studies than the sciences or history.
Leaving aside the question of whether or not schools are really under-funded after twelve years of labour spending like a Premiership footballer with a day to live, how come schools in the Third World manage to teach real subjects then? Just how much extra would it cost to teach kids about the Bill of Rights instead of making videos of each other?

Victimhood Match Result: Gays 1 Women 0

I don't even know why they bother with these court cases. The cards reveal all anyway.

Of course, this does raise a question: in so far as this decision means that liberals are claiming a woman submitted a false claim of harassment, does that mean they hate women, or is that just where rightists question the authenticity of these claims?

On the other hand... how can I put this? This case doesn't exactly rebut the stereotype of the special people as hysterical whiners. Besides, if it's not about the money, how come they never turn it down?

Steyn D'Jour

Talking specifically of those who defend their human right not to allow anyone to disagree with them, but with wider implications for conservatism in general:
As I've said re the so-called "global consensus" of the UN, if you mix half-a-pint of vanilla ice cream with half-a-pint of dog feces the result will taste more like the latter than the former. Likewise, if you split the difference between me and Commissar Barbara Hall, or Ezra and Jennifer Lynch, QC, you're still quite a long ways down the road to tyranny. "Moderation" - of the CTV/Gazette school - is a euphemism for drift, for letting the culture be tugged gently, imperceptibly, remorselessly into darkness

Hey, How Was I To Know That Drunk Guy Sleeping In A Hedge Wasn't A Real Doctor?

Dang! Looks like the social workers have been having a little trouble with their 'expert witnesses' again, all of which means.....

Wait! I hear a whimpering from the corner. Mr Liberal would like to point out that social workers have to act on the advice of whichever totally randomly chosen expert happens to be passing at the particular moment a case comes up.

OK, for the sake of the apologists' stupid argument we'll pretend that social workers pluck out their expert advisers with a pin and a copy of the British Medical Association's members roll. That still leaves open the question of why this sort of fiasco happens so much more often here than in, say, criminal cases.

Well, for a start, real courts allow the accused to mount a proper defence, including the ability to cross-examine prosecution witnesses and call their own expert witnesses in rebuttal. Family courts? Not so much.

Ditto, the fact these courts operate in secret means there's no chance for Professor R E Alscientist to read about the story over his morning weetiflakes and contact the family's solicitor to point out the science is junk. In fact, there's no way to know how many times an alleged expert has had his evidence debunked in previous cases. The secrecy means that social workers can trot out the same witnesses again and again, no matter how dubious they are.

Of course, all of the above assumes that the experts are chosen at random. In reality, not so much. Take this case:
Meanwhile, the story of the mother begging for a lie detector test was reported in the local Press. By chance, the consultant radiologist who had treated Louise's baby girl at the local hospital on the very first day she was brought in, read the article and was appalled.

He remembered the case and the wide divergence of medical opinion, yet had never known that Louise was under suspicion or that she was to have been prosecuted. He was convinced then that the child was suffering from a rare form of cancer of the left kidney, called neuroblastoma, which could have caused the bleeding.

Dr D - as he was called in Mr Justice Gillon's judgment this week - contacted Louise's solicitor and offered to help clear her name.
Yep, the social workers dispassionately acted on the available expert testimony, except for the testimony of the guy who'd first examined the child and who, wouldcha'believe it, could utterly destroy their case. What are the odds, hey?

Also worth noting: it was only because social workers over-played their hand and went for a criminal trial that this doctor became aware the liberals were using junk science to try and steal children. If they'd kept it in the family courts, they'd have gotten away with meddling with the kids.

Bottom line, as ever: it's isn't about bad judgement, it's about a completely warped system that allows unaccountable leftist fanatics to harass the innocent on a whim.

Perfect

Things you always knew, but couldn't put into words: meet the 'Ransom Note Method'.

Liberals: Also Rubbish At Science

Here's one for the philosophers: just how supa scientific can these liberal social theories be, when they're completely unfalsifiable? Whenever the wheels come off, it just proves we need even more liberalism

Civil War: Is It Always A Bad Thing?

Today's 'Decline & Fall Of British Civilisation' story comes from Perthshire:
When father-of-three Peter Drummond discovered that a drug dealer had sold heroin to a member of his family he decided to take matters into his own hands.

He stormed into pusher John Nellies' home and confronted him - before flushing the dealer's heroin down the toilet.

But yesterday it was Drummond - not Nellies - who found himself in court.

And to the despair and anger of his family, Drummond, whose children are all under five years old, was jailed by a sheriff for his actions.
Of course. It gets better:
The court heard that drug addict Lesley Brown then turned up to buy heroin and was told to get out and sworn at by Drummond. She left and reported him to the police.
How's that for a perfect barometer of civilisational decadence? Smackheads phone the police to complain about their dealer getting a hard time.

Not that the bewigged fools see it that way:
But Sheriff Robert McCreadie told Drummond: 'If you were concerned about matters you should contact the police, not enter a house and threaten to kill someone. You can't take matters into your own hands the way you did.'
Yes, he should have told the police..... except both the dealer in question and a junkie customer have no qualms discussing their particular industry in court. I'm getting that the legal system is not really an hindrance to their chosen profession.

Incidentally, this is one reason why I'm sceptical of libertarianism. We keep getting told about the new Golden Age that will descend when drugs are legalised, but in what sense are they illegal right now? Aside from the purely ceremonial sense anyway.

Which is the other thing. Judges like McCreadie aren't concerned about the actual specifics of the law, so much as they are with protecting their right to use it to bully and oppress everyone else. Don't take the law into your own hands, says the sheriff? Whose hands should they be in then? Is the law the product and possession of the citizenry, or the sole property of an unelected elite of lordships?

Hmmmmm..... that rings a bell. Yes, I think we solved that one sometime in the 1640s. We're the citizens, and freaks like McCreadie are the hired help, and it's getting time to fire them all.

Madman Of No Appearance

Yep, it's official: Harry Potter actor Robert Knox was 'stabbed by a madman'.

Phew! That's a relief! Guess the MSM won't have to explore any further into the killer's motivation, after all.

Judge: Hey, Let's Not Bicker And Argue About Who Killed Who

While the vitally important 'Bloody Sunday' enquiry has now reached the £400 million mark and liberal judges invent ever more absurd rights for terrorists, it turns out that there are limits to this whole 'justice' thing after all. And you'll never guess where...

Or possibly not.

So, for those of you keeping score at home, allowing the state to deport foreign terrorists will bring on the dark night of fascism, but allowing the state to kidnap kids on bogus grounds? Like you've never made a mistake, Mr Perfectey-Conservative.

Incidentally, for those of you tempted to give the judge the benefit of the doubt as a guy making the best of a sticky situation, check out his actual comments:
He said: 'Mr and Mrs Webster believe that they have suffered a miscarriage of justice. They may be right. A family which might well have been capable of being held together, has been split up.
May have been capable of being held together? It was social workers who destroyed the family. This is like claiming that the Titanic may have been capable of surviving, if only it wasn't for the iceberg.
From their perspective, [the parents] have been wrongly accused of physically abusing one of their children, and three of their children have been removed wrongly and permanently from their care.
Yes, it's all a matter of perspective. One man's child abuser is another man's not child abuser. It's all so confusing! After all, who is he to judge?

Meanwhile, I am quite sure that from m'lud's perspective he is in no way a liberal moron who has so thoroughly over indulged on culturally Marxist post-modern drivel that he is incapable of comprehending the basic principles of law, let alone basic justice.

Ditto, what of the social workers? No matter how much Po-Mo drivel you wrap it up in, they were responsible for the abduction of three kids. How about we switch some of the money from appeasing Findus O'Letterbomb over to jailing these low-lifes?

Kicking Cripples Is Not An Achievement

In so far as we're now deep in one of those once-in-a-lifetime economic collapses that only ever happen when Labour are in power, can we at least do without Tory fanboys claiming their paltry low-teens lead is proof of the Godly genius of The Dave?

You could put Sooty up as Leader of the Opposition and he'd be beating Brown. Like NNW points out, The Dave's main talent appears to be missing open goals.

We have an economy that's imploding and a governing party that just plain doesn't give a toss just as long as they can keep the gravy train rolling. Labour shouldn't be worrying about losing the next election, they should be worried about being destroyed as an electoral force forever - and they would be, if only we had someone around to put forward any kind of alternative.

An Idea Whose Time Has Come

In so far as the usual suspects are raging about executive compensation, how about a nice dose of sauce for the goose?

And yes, in case you're wondering: in addition to Lottery money and arts grants, our thespians have also managed to intersperse demanding that your taxes go up to save the polar bear from racism with campaigning for a whole set of tax breaks of their own.

Hard Working Civil Servant Found!

Hey, it's hard enough getting them to work at the office, let alone doing extra in their free time.

All of which shows why 'hate speech' laws are rubbish. Here's a guy who's done nothing more than get caught in public talking the way these people talk in private. Is public debate helped or hindered by the chance to see just who's employed by the Foreign Office? Hell, this guy's practically a whistle-blower.

Outrage D'Jour: Come Back Ecoloons!

Just in case there's anyone out there who still takes seriously the Government's claim that harassing motorists is all about saving lives, here is enlightenment

Speed kills? Hey, how about hand brake turns? Add in the assault on a police officer and you'd think liberals would be calling for public execution.... unless you had any experience in dealing with the left. Sticking it to motorists is one thing, but promoting dangerous insanity takes precedence over that. Think about it as the anti-matter version of victimhood poker. The most absurd leftist talking point wins. Even so, this was classic:
He has previous convictions for drink-driving and disorderly behaviour, but was given a two-year conditional discharge because he is about to start a new job in Ireland.

Judge Clement Goldstone said the job meant that Kirk would not be able to carry out any community punishment in the UK.

He said: "I cannot impose such a requirement in this case because you are not going to be here to fulfil it and I'm not going to set you up to fail."
Yep, he couldn't be punished because that would inconvenience him. You can't get that kind of service from the NHS. Mind you, it's not like he missed out on much:
He added he would otherwise have handed down a suspended six-month-sentence in a young offenders' institution.

Taking Her Work Home With Her?

Master MONA Monitor Lurker points out the case to end all cases. Yep, the suspect is 'an amateur footballer and aspiring professional'. Clearly, this is the work of the Full Back Gang.

Needless to say, you need to check with the left's favourite newspaper to fix an 'A' on that 'M'. Irrelevant? Hey, like Lurker says, imagine if it was the other way round: Trevor Phillips would be calling for air strikes, Cameron would upgrade it to nukes and the BBC would spend two hours covering the memorial service in the local Cathedral.

Of course, that does lead to the very best part of all this. As Lurker points out, PC Wilks is no ordinary plod: Nope, she's works in......hate crime!!!!!!!!!!!

"Dr Mandleson Will See You Now"

One thing that really hacks me off is people comparing Mandleson's 'Go To Europe' rant to Tebbit's 'Get On Your Bike' speech. Tebbit was a guy who really had pulled himself up by his bootstraps, talking about his own family's experience. When have any of the repulsive Mandleson clan had to fight for anything? Aside from restaurant reservations, anyway.

The big thing though is what JulieM points out: what part of socialism is it that attempts to justify poverty by citing the fact other people are doing fine? OK, that line of thought may actually mark a real improvement if adopted generally by the left, but here it's just plain weird. Doesn't that kind of kill any leftist criticism of the Thatcher Years? Hey, providing you had money, the 1980s were a true Golden Age. What's the difference exactly?

Still, at least Mandelseon chose to deploy his talents in politics. Can you imagine if he brought the same world view into other fields? Can you imagine him as your GP?
Oh sure, you've got it tough, Mr Whiny 'I've got a brain tumour', but what about Mr Jones at the bottom of your road? He's in perfect health, so stop being so self-obsessed.
Yep, this is where British socialism is at: justifying poverty by citing the example of rich people. It makes you feel nostalgic for Nye Bevan.

Philip Glenister For Home Secretary

Proof positive that the Cameron Party has now abandoned actual policies, in favour of coming up with wacky headlines. On the plus side, this does mean we'll get school vouchers, just as soon as we can get David Beckham to come out for them.

Then again, anything to distract from the fact the Davettes are actually pond scum. For those of you keeping score at home, that means one Tory MP has now managed to cause more provable casualties than global warming. On the other hand, he didn't use any un-PC language, so I guess he's safe for ever.

How About We Import Some Decent Politicians?

Ross wonders how conservatives can support the wildcat strikers now after having condemnded Scargill back in the 1980s. My answer would be that Scargill wanted to overturn the results of an election, while the wildcaters are opposing something that was never put to the public in the first place.

When did we have this vote on globalisation, open borders and the whole rest of the tranzi agenda?

I'm sure there are all kinds of cute economic explanations why open borders make everyone richer. Well we've just had a decade full of people with supa-smart theories on how to make money by disregarding all previous norms of business. In the post-crash world common sense is the new black, and there's something just plain wrong with allowing pirate multinationals to leech off our country. As it happens, I think it's technically wrong to say they don't employ British workers - they employ plenty: the workers who build their roads to get to their facilities, the medics who deal with their injured personnel, the police officers who protect the facilities.... nope, they don't mind British workers, they just don't like paying for them. The British taxpayers is effectively subsidising foreign companies, employing foreign workers, which just happen to have a British postcode.

Yes, I'm aware these companies, and workers, will pay some tax. I'm also willing to bet it'll be a lot less than British workers would pay, and that's without factoring in that British workers would spend most of their money in Britain, or the associated welfare costs of keeping the natives on the dole.

Like I said, maybe there's some brilliant reason why allowing multinationals to replace British workers with foreign mercenaries makes perfect sense, but that case has never been made. Instead, we've been stuck with a political class that offers us a choice of a slightly left-of-centre tranzi party or a slightly right-of-centre tranzi party. Millions of voters have been effectively disenfranchised by a political class that refuses to discuss one of the central issues of the age. Apparently, discussing actual issues really is a job the British just won't do.

Why Our Politics Is Rubbish

Stuff like this. We have a political class that seems to genuinely believe that the working population is nothing more than a giant ATM to hit every time one of them has some goofy notion or pet project to push.

Danger! Yoofs At Work

Thanks to Lurker in the comments, here's today's encounter with the Murderers Of No Appearance. Clearly, another case of Hymn Rage. Plus, bonus points for the spectacularly uninformative video clip.

Isn't One Europe More Than Enough?

The worst thing about the Obamamessiah is not the lousy policies, it's that he just doesn't get America itself. Obama's whole objective seems to be to take the Great Experiment and turn it into... well, this.

Clarke = Prescott

Never mind Cuddly Ken Clarke's Euro fanaticism, the real problem with him is what he says about the snobbery of the Metropolitan elite.

Here we have a fat, lazy, arrogant, obnoxious, blustering slob, and the MSM praises him to the skies for his ability to reach out to the man in the street. Uh, OK.

Say, when was the last time any of these people ever met anyone out here in the real world?

Of course, the other reason why the MSM loves Clarke is for his outstanding record of throwing the right under the bus. Any nominally right-wing politician can be hailed as a principled maverick just as long as he denounces actual conservatives, but as soon as he comes up against the left.... well, ask John McCain how that works.

Hey, if Ann Widdicombe had ever dismissed ambulance crews as merely 'professional drivers', you wouldn't have to wait for some goofball on a blog to remind you about it. That'll be the 'common touch' the MSM keeps hailing Clarke for.

The Spoils System of Child Care

Hey, if conservatives are the evil ones, how come it's always liberals behind stories like this?

Like I keep saying, these people are telling us who they are. None of their usual excuses apply here. Social workers aren't being required to make a judgement call or act quickly on inadequate information. They've just sat down in a nice, climate-controlled room and decided to destroy a family to make some absurd political point.

Hmmmm... if the mid-forties are too old for a woman to raise a young child, I guess there's nothing down for Leo Blair. On the other hand, the grandmother in this case does have diabetes, which means that if the kids are ever trapped by a giant avalanche of icing sugar, she won't be able to eat her way through to them. Mind you, it would be embarrassing if liberals themselves had spent years inventing bogus concepts like 'ageism and 'ableism' to try and pathologise people who think a sixty-something epileptic may not be the best choice of recruit for the Bomb Squad.

Ah yes, victimhood poker - is there anywhere it doesn't apply? If only this couple had restricted themselves to fatuous lawsuits against gyms for not hiring them as aerobics instructors, liberals would be making movies about their brave fight against discrimination, but as soon as they got in the way of the Special People, they were under the bus.

Which brings me neatly on to that other group of charmers exposed by this case: pretendey-conservative professional gayers. These people have spent years claiming 'we just wanna be friends!' so how come they aren't all out in the streets chanting 'not in my name'? I guess the 'conservative gays' must be tied up in a meeting with the moderate Muslims?

See, this is the point. There were plenty of reasons to oppose the gay adoption movement, but the key one, the thing that was repellent above all else about these people, was their enormous sense of entitlement. They were arguing about their right to be given kids in care as though young children were some kind of government freebie they were being cruelly deprived of. All this is just the logical extension of that world view.

No Bias Here!

Tonight ITV are going show a drama about an event in July 2005. Use your skill and judgement to guess which:
  1. The July 7 bombings

  2. The search for the July 21 bombers

  3. The shooting of St Jean the Martyr
OK, that is kind of obvious. Folks escaping from the burning wreckage of a tube train deep underground or cops in a race against time to track down fanatical bombers? No potential for good drama there, but a dramatisation based on the transcript of an inquest - now that's entertainment!

Really - that's the other thing about media bias. It's not just annoying on political grounds, it also leads to some really terrible TV. At least Winston Smith only had to put up with two minutes of hate, our MSM keeps it up 24/7. After all, just what is the point of all this? This isn't bringing an obscure corner of history to life - few events in recent history has been covered as extensively as Stockwell. Ditto, the left has spent years - literally - trying to leverage this case into a broadcast condemnation of da pigs (and failing, utterly) This drama has nothing to add to the debate except another opportunity for the left to indulge in masturbatory cop hating.

As ever with questions of MSM bias, it's worth stating that yes, there should be a place for full-on political commentary, just not when it's trying to pass itself off as impartial and any vaguely right-wing commentary results in a firing.

Victim in Chief

Ann Coulter has a new book out and it makes a great point about one of the strangest perversions of modern culture. In less than two generations we've gone from a society which celebrates the guy who scores the winner in the FA Cup Final to one that celebrates the guy cruelly robbed of his chance to play for Chelsea just because he's a paraplegic.

The ultimate in liberal victimhood worship though is the Obamamessiah. The left spent years fantasising about Bush being assassinated, but as soon as The One was elected, they switched to Obama murder fantasises. Of course. Just because their loony messiah is the most powerful man on Earth doesn't mean he still can't claim victimhood, albeit pre-emptively.

Say, Did Something Happen Today?

Given the MSM's coverage today, it's a wonder they didn't just borrow a line from 'Flash Gordon' and announce 'all beings shall make merry under pain of death'. On the plus side, this does mean the week after the death of Princess Di is no longer the stupidest moment in modern pop culture.

The BBC in particular rose to the occasion, with even the regional news managing to feature interviews with various race hustlers claiming to be inspired by 'The One' - although none apparently inspired enough to get a job in the private sector.

By the way, in case you're wondering: no, none of these Obama-supporting blacks gave any, specific policy-based reasons why they supported him and, no, that wasn't commented on either.

Of course, the left's sudden respect for racial block-voting is only as weird as their decision that, actually, dissent isn't the highest form of patriotism after all. Apparently, everyone in the world wishes The One well in his mission to screw up America.

Whatever concessions Obama makes to political pragmatism, he is still - as exemplified by his 'bitter, clingers' line - an outright Marxist. At the least, Obama's vision of America is just Europe with better movies. Why would anyone on the right want him to succeed?

Still, on the plus side, at least the Obamamessiah has managed to restore America's position in the world.

Barackopalyspse Now!

Two hours on BBC1 dedicated to the Coronation of the Messiah! Now that's why we pay our licence fee.

Why The Left Doesn't Like To Talk About It

Islam, that is. I guess the only way to defend something like this is to stop people finding out about it in the first place.

The Left's New Policy: Don't Mention The War

Actually, that was kind of the old policy too. Still, this is a particularly goofy new twist. Yep, critics of the Religion of Pieces are 'non-violent extremists'. So Mark Steyn is just like Mohammed Atta, except for the 'flying airliners into buildings' thing. Also, your family doctor is just like Harold Shipman, except for the whole morphine thing.

Not only is Brandon's point ludicrous on first principles, it doesn't even make sense on its own terms. When Hazel Blear's talks about 'non-violent extremist' Muslims, she's employing achingly PC phraseology to describe those Muslims who fully support terrorism, but aren't actually indulging in it right now. On the other hand, if the left had evidence of Melanie Phillips supporting mass murder, they'd presumably have mentioned it already.

Then again, the whole article reads like a warning about the dangers of riding a bike without a helmet. Jimmy the Dhimmi complains about people referring to Muslims collectively, y'know, kind of like this:
Senior Muslims have warned ministers that some young people could turn to extremism and violence, rather than conventional protest and pressure, because of the Gaza war.

They say ministers have not done enough to explain the UK's position and to help communities sideline jihadist recruiters.
Or perhaps not. Note too that this is no ordinary humbuggery. Leftists are perfectly happy to talk about 'Muslims' collectively when talking about their views on specific policy issues, like exterminating the bacillus of International Jewry bringing peace to the Middle East. All the right does is assume that Muslims follow Islam. True, some nominal 'Muslims' may not actually swallow it whole, but then I bet some members of the Vegetarian Society enjoy a sneaky bacon sandwich, but that doesn't mean we need hours of agonised debate over the meaning of 'true vegetarianism'.

This is what I keep saying. You want to understand Marxism: read Das Kapital. Nazism? Try Mein Kampf. Islam? Nope - you need some wacademic to stop by and explain how the Koran doesn't actually mean what it says. This is why liberal dhimmitude always ends in calls for restricting free speech: Islam does not do well in the light of day.

Liberals In Hell

They just won't know who to support in this story.

The One Already Reviving US Businesses

Is there nothing the Obamamessiah can't do?

This Is Great

On second thoughts, this would only really work if at the same time you had the Elphaba Centre for Social Justice calling for schools to reach out to the Necromancy community.

Another Guy Who Doesn't Understand Islam

Like I keep saying, when the MSM wants to know what ecoloons believe, they interview an econut, when they want to know about animal rights kooks, they interview one of them, but when it comes to Muslims? No, then they interview some liberal, atheist wacademic.

Then again, you kind of see why they have to do this: when ever an actual Muslim breaks through the MSM's wall of noise it's never pretty.

See, this is the thing. For all the left likes to rant about 'right-wing extremism' and a 'culture of bigotry', it always turns out to be the left that appoints lunatics to important positions:
As a former chairman of the influential Muslim Safety Forum and the current head of its counter-terrorism work-team, he works with the Home Office, senior police officers and the Security Services trying to combat extremism.
Liberal dhimmitude: now officially beyond parody.

You Mean It Wasn't The Jews After All?

Guess the recession can't be too bad: the BBC is spending shed-loads of cash to deal with a fictional threat. Hey, everyone knows the whole 'terrorism' thing was invented by the CIA so Big Oil can invade the Amazon rainforest and steal their fish.

Well, either that, or it's the perfectly legitimate expression of genuine grievance by Muslims appalled by events in Gaza/Iraq/Afghanistan/Thailand/Russia/India/Chile/the asteroid belt. Why would peace-loving people like that attack a TV station? It's not like they just want to kill Infidels, right?

The whole thing is an exercise in humbug:
A BBC spokeswoman said today: 'This has always been part of the plan for the redevelopment. I cannot say more than that - we never discuss security matters unless we can make political capital out of it in which case national security can go to Hell.'
Actually, I think that last bit was kind of implied more than said, but if the BBC can report on people would say, then that's good enough for me too.
The scheme has emerged as the BBC continues with an £800million revamp of the Broadcasting House site, complete with a new nine-storey glass and stone extension.
What happened to a BBC that looks like Britain? We're in a depression and these guys are spending money like a footy player with a day to live. If they need black lesbians on the staff to report properly on black lesbian issues, how can report properly on an imploding economy when they're living the dream?

Climate Change Claims Another Victim

Well, specifically, attempts to stop climate change. So, in case you've lost track of the score, that means more people have now been killed by ecofreaks than by actual climate change.

I guess these things happen when you let these things fall under the control of uncaring Big Businesses who put profits before people.

Oops:
Cllr Wiltshire said: 'We are sympathetic to the concerns of our leaseholders but the council does spell out the detail of the financial obligations imposed upon a lessee in the terms of each right-to-buy lease.'
Huh? Did they really include a paragraph warning that owners might find themselves stung by huge bills to pay for the ridiculous obsessions of pampered, metropolitan neurotics?

But who runs a council that could harass a 91 year old deaf/blind women surviving on pension credits? Why, yes, it is one of Call Me Dave's Nu Caring Tory councils. Who'd have thunk it?

Muslims Condemn Extremism....

.... specifically, they condemn Prince Harry's extremist language. The folks who saw heads off, blow trains up and fly airliners into buildings? Not so much.

See, this is the thing. Liberal straw men to the contrary, no one's demanding that random taxi drivers and restaurant owners denounce terrorism. We're simply pointing out that the alleged moderates who turn the volume up to 11 over trivial garbage like this, never manage anything like the same kind of full-throated condemnation when the issue is actual murder.

And Another Thing...

Like I said last time, the femiloon's claim that the average British male has suddenly become more rape-y is garbage but, in her own, whiny, victimhood obsessed way, 'Cath' has hit on a genuine cultural phenomenon. Yes, negative attitudes to women are becoming more common amongst young men, but what's with this:
It's no good teenagers being told that sexist attitudes are wrong if they then go home and see their dad treating their mum like a skivvy, or sitting around making disparaging remarks about women with the Sun's Page 3 open on his lap and porn playing out on the TV screen.
Huh? I thought the femiloons claimed this is how men behaved all through the Fifties - aka the Worst Decade Evah! - anyway. Surely they're not saying their mothers had it better than them?

Nope, it's not men that have changed, it's women. As JulieM says:
It’s presumably ok if they see Mum trading in ‘boyfriends’ like some trade in cars, or little sis trotting off to school dressed in the finest Ann Summers can supply, I suppose?
Well, yes, that's exactly what the femiloons are saying. Feminism is the belief that women have the God given right to behave like pigs while avoiding the consequences. Consider the central sacrament of the feminist cult: isn't there something just plain goofy about an ideology built around killing off the young?

This is where I part company from Mark Steyn - and yes, I am sure he'd be devastated to hear that - the West's demographic disaster isn't solely down to vacuous, yuppie scum couples preferring to act like kids rather than raise them. There just aren't enough SWPLers out there to take all the blame. Ditto, there was never a Golden Age when young men behaved like responsible adults. Again, it's the women that have changed. It's the success of the feminist doctrine that slutting around is the path to empowerment, and the corollary that marriage and commitment is practically the same as slavery, that have slashed fertility rates in the West. And that's not even the worst of it.

Don't think feminism means women sleep around indiscriminately. On the contrary what happens is that given the choice most women flock to 10-20% of socially dominant 'bad boys'. In effect, what we end up with is what the brilliant blogger Whiskey calls 'soft polygamy', whereby most women prefer to 'time-share' a small pool of alpha males, while Joe Average is shut out. In other words, feminism leads to exactly the social arrangements that have made the Islamic world such a fine example of social progress.

The big difference between the Islamic world and the West is that polygamy here is driven by female choice. In effect, the average guy has been kicked to the kerb by the female of the species. Femiloons like 'Cath' celebrate this as evidence of enlightenment even while bemoaning the perfectly predictable consequences. In effect, 'Cath' and pals want women to 'defect' from the sociological game of prisoner's dilemma but for men to keep 'cooperating'.

Not going to happen. In fact, the wheels are already coming off.
In a sign of the times, "Otaryman," a comic-book series about a less-than-driven salaryman, has become one of this year's surprise hits. In the book, the protagonist passes his days worrying about his colleagues' files spilling onto his desk rather than trying to impress bosses. "He just plods along (in) life, and has very small ambitions," says Makoto Yoshitani, the series's 28-year-old author. "I think people my age find that comforting."
Yowser! And that's in a proverbially productive workforce. Sure, there are a multitude of factors behind it, but Whiskey points out one big one:
But buried between the lines is the nugget that Japanese men, the younger ones at least, no longer believe that wealth and power that is achievable from a Salary Man job will lead to a family. This is the natural outcome, perhaps, of women's increasing power and status in society.
Ditto, this sort of thing makes much more sense once you look at it in context. Why should a guy like that have realistic goals? The economic benefits of working the type of job he could get vs unemployment has been eroded (thanks welfare state!) while the effects on status of becoming another wage slave selling out to The Man are questionable at best (thanks black community leaders!). Becoming a sports star might be unlikely, but if it pays off you can be one of the 10-20%, and if it it doesn't, at least it won't leave you feeling like a chump.

Short summary: feminists have destroyed the social contract on which our society was based and we're now in uncharted waters. Their big problem is that the feminist movement's vision of a society where women shrug off the old restraints only works providing that the beta male Atlas doesn't feel the same way. Whatever happens next, I don't think 'Cath' and her pals are going to like it.

Sudden Rise In Cases Of Plague, Cannibalism, Zombie Attacks And Bad TV

Uh oh - the femiloons are on the war path over this.

Not really!

Actually, it's this.

No, that's not right either. Amazingly enough, it turns out to be British women that are really huge victims. Personally, my favourite bit was this:
Last year, 3,500 pupils were suspended for sexual misconduct, 260 of whom were still at primary school. Their behaviour ranged from sexist name-calling, graffiti and verbal harassment, to inappropriate touching, sexual assault and rape.
Say, it's a good job a bloke didn't try to bracket together 'name-calling' and 'rape' - ol' Cathy might have self-immolated. If there really is an epidemic of violence against women, why do the femiloon feel the need to bulk up the figures by lumping in naughty words?

For a bunch of folks who keep yammering about 'zero tolerance' it's noticeable that the femiloons fold like a row of tents every time their crusade brings them near a potential conflict with the rest of the left. All of which is by way of saying that you will never get a femiloon speculating on just why the attitudes found in the first two links above are becoming more prevalent in Britain. Instead, we get artfully spun phrases like this:
The rise in gang culture obviously plays some part in this... when young people themselves were asked where all this was coming from, popular culture, song lyrics, the media and the internet came top of their list.

Now, I'm not going to try to argue causation, or to call for rap music and MySpace to be banned, but...
Say, who's in these gangs anyway?

Clearly, what we're dealing with here is Molesters Of No Appearance. Meanwhile, femiloons are anxious to blame it all on a bogus pathology in the wider culture, but not actual, specific cultures that really do approve of sexual violence.

The bottom line is that, as ever, the femiloons are only interested in sexual violence in so far as it be can spun into a broad-brush indictment of British society in general. They're so obsessed with claiming sexual violence is endemic in Britain - a kind of original sin - that they'll not only inflate the number of victims, they'll even go so far as to whitewash truly pathological cultures.

Quote Of The Day

No real point to choosing this quote, except that that it shows just how loopy FDR's policies really were:
In the prosecution of the Schechter Brothers, a Brooklyn clan of Kosher butchers who were hounded by federales telling them what to do at every turn–a bizarrely intrusive and unnecessary law required “straight killing,” meaning the brothers had to sell the first chicken that came to hand in the coop instead of selling the chicken the customer wanted–Roosevelt suffered a monumental defeat in the Supreme Court after which one justice heatedly told one of Roosevelt’s confidantes that the Court would not allow FDR to centralize everything.

Fun In Zimbabwe South

I like to think that the folks with 'Hang Nelson Mandela' t-shirts were just ahead of the curve.

Open Borders Theatre

OK, this is it. I've decided on a new tag 'Open Borders Theatre'. It'll be used for those cases where the open borders freaks use technicalities to harass legal immigrants in an attempt to demonise the whole idea of border controls. Here's today's example.

Rich People Laughing At Poor People != Socialism

Further proof for my contention that liberalism has gobbled up socialism.

It's Worse Than That

Ross notes the insanity of the educrats' position that parents need to be fully involved in every aspect of their children's education, except the whole 'school choice' thing, in which case they should sit down and shut up.

Like I keep saying, this isn't Dunkirk. The kids whose life chances are being thrown away aren't being sacrificed to buy time so the rest can be evacuated to safety. Parents are being asked to throw their kids' prospects down the drain just because none of our political parties has the bottle to grab some dirty, hippy losers by the scruff of the neck and throw them out on the street.

But it even worse than the original analogy implies. This is a government that constantly rages about price-fixing, cartels and the like, but here we have one of the most critical industries in the country and it's standard practice for them to rig the market to ensure weak players can stay in business. Hell, even if you hate kids on principle, think of the cash wasted keeping five separate schools running at 75% capacity.

Quote Of The Day

Steyn explains why the culture war matters:
If the non-political sphere is permanently left-of-center — the movies, the pop songs, the plays, the sitcoms, the newspapers plus the churches, schools and much else — it's simply unreasonable to expect people to walk into a polling booth every other November and vote conservative. The culture is where the issues get framed and the boundaries set.
All of which is by way of saying that if you can't turn on the TV without catching a drama featuring babies being born headless because of pollution caused by evil businessmen, then it's going to be hard to make a case against the ecoloon cause d'jour.

Festival of Hate

We've had the season of goodwill, now it's the season of nasty. Yep, it's hate-speech eXtreme aka the New Year link-dump, from this post down.

FoH: Open Borders

But Don't Call It Amnesty: At least they're not from anywhere dangerous!

And Don't Call This One Either: Open borders? What 'open borders'?

He's Stealing The Cash The British Just Won't Steal: That five year term will teach him!

They Must Be The Highly-Skilled Immigrants Liberals Are Always On About: Or perhaps not.

Definition Of Open Borders:
When even this guy can't be deported.

This Is How It's Meant To Work: And in one of the libs' favourite countries too!

It's Just Like Starship Troopers: Volunteer for the Mohammed Siddiq Khan's Memorial Madrassa, qualify for citizenship. What could go wrong?

Cultural Enrichment: What? You thought it was just exotic restaurants?

Three Million: Any chance the cost of this will be included in those calculations of the economic benefits of immigration? Any chance? At all?

Just In Case The International Health Service Didn't Cost Enough Already: More economic benefits.

Non-Kool Aid Drinkers: Don't they know 'cultural identity' is a myth? Isn't the whole point of citizenship that it qualifies for privileges not available to non-citizens?

Of Course, There May Be Other Reasons Why The Army Is Suspicious Of PC: It's the 'Umanrights', innit?

The Kids Are Alright! Well, they talk more sense than the average politician.

Outsourcing Welfare: Not the processing, the claiming!

Not That They'll Do Anything About It: Who'd have thunk it?

Liberals Missing The Point Again: I don't think it's the 'inappropriate content' that's the problem.

FoH: Femiloons

aka God's way of reminding us half the population is below average.

As My Ex Used To Say: Blah, Blah, Blah... Why single out teachers?

Get Me A Cherry-Picker, Two Pumps And Three Princesses: Hey, it's hardly life & death, right?

Proof Of The Stopped Clock Hypothesis: Yes, even a femiloon can work out that being a member of a protected species with all manner of special rights may indeed make you a poor prospect for employment.

When Push Comes To Shove: There's no substitute for a real man.

FoH: The Tories

aka The Not-The-Conservative Party

I'm Just Shocked! Cameron admits he may not be able to fulfil his promise. Bernie Madoff says 'wish I'd thought of that'.

Oh Yes He Did: Four years from now he'll be denying everything.

The Common Touch: Who ever thought we'd all be nostalgic for the quiet dignity of Cherie Blair?

Now This Is Electability: But don't anyone question the morality of this guy's lifestyle.

Why Not Slim Down The Government First? Hey, anyone remember when the Tories thought there should be limits to government intervention?

Tory MP Shocked By Discovery Law Says What It Says: Who was hiding this from them?

Supporting Of The Troops: Cameron channels the Guardian, the Tories suck it up.

I'm Glad He's Keeping His Family Out Of It: Well, except for... Say does that mean we can mention this?

But How Much Will He Charge For PMQs? On the other hand, he has only got £30 million in the bank already.

'A History Of Mental health Problems': Remember, just because Cameron has exercised more control over candidate selection than any Tory leader in history doesn't mean we can judge him when this happens.

Another A-List Triumph: At least they're thrown out all those embarrassing proles!

Also Not Embarrassing: Hmmm... the greatest politician evah! sure does spend a lot of time in elephant traps.

Who Says He's A Little Fascistic? Irresponsible journalism = reporting on The Dave

Tory MP Enraged, Misses Point: It's not how much, it's how the Hell we ended up paying for his lunch anyway.

Biggest Financial Crisis In History And Still Getting Nowhere? Time to hire more flacks!

Even When He's Right, He's Wrong: It's not the fat, it's the smugness.

He's Not Mercenary, Just 'Post-Ideological': Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Hey, You Know Who's Just Like Sarah Palin? 'I am' says whiny A-list pretendey conservative bimbo (Mrs Palin is reported to be consulting her lawyers).

FoH: Neo-Prohibitionists - Hitler Was The First Health Nazi

Guys Who Thought Shipman Was A Good GP Think Hooch Is A Threat: In related news, the National Association of Pub Landlords have called for action to deal with the increasing numbers of misdiagnoses by GPs.

New Theory On Metabolisation Of Alcohol: You get loaded faster if you're young and poor. Slippery slope, anyone?

But Who Says These People Hate Freedom? Real Question: Is there 'any place' for wierdo fascist loonies in the marketplace of ideas?

Drink Top-Shelf, Live Forever: Question 2 - is Mummy ranting and raving to the papers about evil booze companies a consequence or a clue to the real cause?

Did Someone Say Fascist Twerps? I guess even the people who elected Blair three times aren't supid enough to buy the propaganda, after all.

Everyone's A Drunk: Clearly, the only answer is to regulate everybody.

Even More Micromanagement: Hey, I thought libs believed you could dictate morality?

Now That's An Idea I Can Get Behind: Express service for the busy drinker!

Yet, Strangely, You Don't Have To Step Over The Bodies On The Way To Work: That is what is known as a 'Free Clue'.

Who Said These Guys Were Miserable Whiners? No Games!

The Stunning Denouement: Don't be shocked, but it turns out to be a load of garbage, after all.
