Compare & Contrast: New Dave Order Edition

Mentioning that the National Socialist German Workers Party was, in fact, just a little socialist? Fired!

Praising a terrorist? Carry on!

Of course there are differences. One of them was talking about a mad man who ranted about how God commanded him to crush the aliens polluting his sacred land, while the other was talking about Hitler.

Still, the comparison is compelling. As ever though we should not let the obvious foulness of the Cameroonian position blind us to the more profound foulness of it all. When exactly did conservatives start talking fondly of 'conviction politicians'? When did that get to be a good thing?

The whole point about conservatism is scepticism about government in general and politicians with big ideas in particular. When actual conservatives cite the guy ranting about how Ulster Protestants are alien transplants who deserve no rights, they mean it as an example of why politicians can't be trusted.

It's The MIA-List

So farewell then, Louise Mensch, you were... kind of rubbish, actually.

But who'd have thunk that a whiny, professional victim parachuted into a provincial constituency would bail just as soon as she was expected to do some actual work?

Apparently, it may not have been have been just bigotry that explains why Louise and pals needed The Dave to foist them on the bumpkins. The average member of a constituency selection panel might not be on the guest list at anywhere hip, but they can spot a Wrong 'Un - they do better than the World's Smartest Man can, anyway.

All of which does kind of hint at just why the Tories are doing so badly. The A-List meant constituency parties, people who knew the local area and had years of experience in politics, were swept aside in favour of insular Metropolitan luvvies with impeccable media connections.

It's the perfect embodiment of Cameronism, combining both his narcissism - superficial nods to diversity to the contrary, these folks were virtually all from the same social circles as The Dave - and his superficial view of what government requires. These guys certainly looked and sounded just like MPs yet, unaccountably, it turns out that posturing hipsters are no good at waging the trench warfare required to actually get stuff done.

It's Hard Out Here For A Race Pimp

Trixie reports that Lib Dems have been passing themselves off as Nu Tories. How can anyone tell?

On the plus side, finally, Oxbridge educated city slickers have a voice in this nation. At last, Cast Iron Dave is bringing millionaire Old Etonians out of the shadows.

Still, what are the odds, hey? Captain Diversity turns out to have the same CV as every other one of Dave's Drones. Apparently, this is the type of diversity where everyone's the same.

But let's think this thing through: in so far the only sense in which there's anything diverse about this guy is his DNA, is it still the right that's obsessed with race? Here's a guy who's lived a life of privilege and plenty and he's supposed to reach to all da brudders in da hood 'cause, hey, he kind of looks like them (or would do, if he wasn't wearing Armani). Patronising, much?

Anyway, how does this work? The Nu Tories clearly hope that there's an as yet untapped mass of black voters who'll only vote Tory if they start hiring black guys. Meanwhile, any white voter in Spelthorne who objects to arrogant, Metropolitan poltico-luvvies handing out seats in the House like a medieval King handing out Dukedoms is clearly some kind of raycist.

Maths Is Raycist

Another one bites the dust:
One of David Cameron’s rising stars of the Conservative Party has had her house repossessed over an unsettled debt of £324,000.

Adeela Shafi was hand-picked by the Tory leader to open the 2008 party conference and was selected three years ago to be Parliamentary candidate in the Labour stronghold of Bristol East.

As an Asian Muslim woman, her appointment was greeted with plaudits and she was described as part of a ‘new generation’ of future MPs.

But Mrs Shafi’s suitability for public office was called into question this week when it was revealed she had three county court judgments against her over debts of almost £330,000.
Who'd have thunk it? One of Dave's Droids turns out to have a little trouble with the whole income/expenditure thing. Doesn't she know politicians are only supposed to waste other people's money?

Maybe the Tories are trying to reach out to people who can't count? Surely they're an under-represented minority group too? After all, surveys show that only 60% of the public understand percentages - the other half haven't got a clue.

Hey, I could go on like this all night, but no: there's serious point here. The Commons isn't meant to be the Big Brother House, with a carefully calibrated cross section of the public sitting around all day doing nothing. MPs aren't there to be feel-good tokens of diversity, their job is to hold the Executive to account.

Prime Ministers - even the Smartest Prime Minister Evah! - aren't meant to be absolute monarchs. That's why we have checks and balances in the first place. When Cast Iron Dave tries to stuff the back benches with slippery no-marks, he's sticking two fingers up to our whole system of government.

Philip Glenister For Home Secretary

Proof positive that the Cameron Party has now abandoned actual policies, in favour of coming up with wacky headlines. On the plus side, this does mean we'll get school vouchers, just as soon as we can get David Beckham to come out for them.

Then again, anything to distract from the fact the Davettes are actually pond scum. For those of you keeping score at home, that means one Tory MP has now managed to cause more provable casualties than global warming. On the other hand, he didn't use any un-PC language, so I guess he's safe for ever.

The Boudica Of Today Comes Out Of Hiding (For One Night Only)

Nu Tory pin up Margo James, who is a lesbian, has emerged from hiding to complain about being labelled a 'Lesbian Conservative'... while speaking at an event run by Stonewall.

Hmmm... either her supporters are going to have to drop the claim that she's the Henry Ford of PR, or stop their hysterical whining every time someone points out the absurdity of The Margon's coy 'dance of the one veil' over her sexuality.

Of course, there is another interpretation of her complaint about being called a 'lesbian conservative'. After all, she is one of Dave's pals. Seriously though, if we drop the lesbian thing, what else does she bring to the table?

I'm not sure she can trade on her conservative bona fides. She's certainly seems confused about where exactly soi dissant conservatives are supposed to stand on the whole collectivism/individuality debate.
There is so much wrong with this government's policy, gay people should not just vote Conservative, they have a duty to vote Conservative
And thus was ended the debate over whether or not the Nu Tories had an obnoxious sense of entitlement!

What, for the sake of The Margon's deranged argument, if her hairdresser really thinks the only reason the NHS sucks is lack of money or that the EU could screw up a sunny day? Does he need a waiver signed by Sir Elton?

How about her supposedly brilliant political skills? Try this:
I think gay people have got more angst on this issue than anybody else because gay people are paying in, through their taxes and actually using far less of the NHS because they tend not to have families, less of the education system for the same reason and all the more reason to be angry with this government for the waste of their taxes.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this is where I came in. As I pointed out at the time - and was assailed by her freak show supporters for doing so - if we had a party list system, we could indeed have 'lesbian conservative' candidates, 'bisexual conservative' candidates and 'bitter ex-SIS operators who have to return to the shadowy world of international espionage to stop a deadly terrorist plot that could kill millions' candidates. Unfortunately, we don't have that system, we have a constituency-based one which means MPs are supposed to represent the interests of all their constituents, even the lumpy, dumpy breeders who think 'eating out' means going to Mackey Ds, and that education is kind of important, actually.

Ditto, if education really is such a yawner, could these folks at least stop whining about Clause 28 even as they foist gay propaganda on young children? Hey, it's not as if parents run round demanding government restrictions on leather goods and vaseline.

One more thing - as Snafu points out, her argument doesn't even stand up on its own terms. Sure, gayers might place less demand on the education system, but what of the rest? It's not just HIV, there are other STDs, drug abuse and all the other aspects of the gay lifestyle. Crunch question: if it turns out that the balance of payments was the other way round, does that mean Margo James, who is a lesbian, would cross-over, as it were?

Still, in amongst all The Margon's triumphalist crowing, there is a serious point. Yes, social conservatives have been utterly defeated both in the Tory Party and society in general, and speaking as one myself, I'm glad that even Margo James, who is a lesbian, admits that. Key point: in so far as Margo James, who is a lesbian, is prepared to admit openly that there really is a gay agenda (just like us fascists said!), and even boast about its success, can they at least stop all claiming to be Ann Frank?

Nope, the gay rights movement doesn't support fascistic restrictions on free speech, religious freedoms and the like through fear of persecution - they support them because they need this power to remake society. This is what the gay agenda means.

But there's more to it than that. What social conservatives need to do - before heading to the hills - is to tie this can to the Tories. The hipster, Metropolitan progressive Nu Tories are now in total command of the Party, and soon will have control of the whole country. At last we'll have the chance to evaluate the progressive agenda in all its glory.

It's worth ramming that point home now, because I guarantee that a few years down the line Margo James, who is a lesbian, and pals will be blaming all their failures on the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

Another One Bites The Dust

You know it sure is lucky that The Dave purged the candidate lists and imposed his own set of Dave's Drones - otherwise something embarrassing might have happened.

This is why it matters: no Tory leader in history has exercised such control over the choice of candidates. Equally, the purge was a key example of Cameroonacy in action. Long-serving conservatives with local roots were replaced with Nu Tory robots. The whole process was a defining moment in Cameroonacy. The obsession with centralisation, control freakery, contempt for traditional values and local communities, and also for the role of MPs as anything other than avatars of diversity, are all examples of Cameroonacy in action.

As more and more examples of lunacy emerge amongst The Dave's New Elite we're entitled to wonder what it all says about both Cameron's judgement and his underlying ideology.

A Politician Is For Life, Not Just The Election

On the subject of liberals using racism as a civilisational blood libel, Cranmer notes a certain contrast in how allegations against members of Boris Johnson staff are handles depending on just who's in the sights at the time.

All too true, which is why it's particularly ludicrous for the Reverend Dale to claim the mantle of victimhood for Ray Lewis. None of the charges have been seriously disputed. True, there's nothing here that rises to the level of criminal - or even civil action - but then no one wants to take him to court: we just don't trust him with our money or our rights.

Spending other people's cash and telling them what to do is pretty much what politicians do, so it's hardly unreasonable if the public doesn't accept 'not convicted of any actual crimes' in and of itself as a plus point for the job. It's not like the Tories aren't repeat offenders here, and that's without considering the rest of the A-List dross.

Like I've said before, the Cameron approach of filling the candidate list with a slasher movie cast of stereotypes is inimical to our system of government. MPs aren't just a chorus line, it's their job to hold government to account. The number of empty vessels on the Tory candidate lists is the perfect barometer of just how much a serious political party has degenerated down to the Cult of Dave.

Patsys On Parade

The biggest problem with the whole Nu Tory A-List project isn't that it meant purging the ranks of many committed conservatives. It isn't even the way it tacitly accepted, and even exploited, the Balkanisation of British society into mutually antagonistic interest groups. No, the worst offence is that it strikes at the heart of our system of government.

The separation of powers demands a strong legislature ready and able to hold the executive to account. Doubtless the Cameroonatics would claim that under the enlightened leadership of the Ayatollah Khameron, there will be no need for archaic traditions like checks and balances. For the rest of us though it's fair to ask if, in so far as the Tories have been packing their candidate list with a 1970s disaster movie array of stereotypes, doesn't that mean we risk a weak legislature at the time when it's needed most ?

Answer: yes.
It is a mistake to assume that modernising Tory candidates are closely attached to Team Cameron. They are more likely to be independent, even lonely, spirits, taking advantage of the ideological vacuum at CCHQ to concentrate on local initiatives or single issues. No doubt some candidates would like to be more closely associated with Cameron. But he is a strangely inaccessible figure, even by the standards of political leaders. The candidates I met did not refer to 'David': they called him 'David Cameron' or just 'Cameron'. Membership of Team Cameron is pretty well closed these days, even to the most desirable recruits.
Translation into English:
Dammit, Sumita,we've given you the 'Hindu chick with one leg' slot, so sit down, shut up and enjoy it, and if we need anyone to deal with vindaloo or artificial limbs, we'll be sure to give you a call.
Or, to put it another way, if your local Tory PPC is a lesbian, ex-drug addict, singing nun, forget it: she'll have about the same political influence as the paperboy.

Hey, for all the supposed horrors of the olde times right, once a memeber of a victim group actually got elected, he was treated as an MP, not as a mere token.

It interesting to note just who the advance guard of the new order actually are. Shaun Bailey sounds great as ever, but that rather rams home the point. Surely - revisionist nonsense to the contrary - a guy like that would always have been a natural candidate, and on merit too, rather than as the beneficiary of a sleazy victimhood spoils system.

But check out the other two. There''s Dr David Bull, stylishly dressed medic....

Hey, that's not me - he brings it up himself and, come to think of it, it is just about the only way in which Dr Diversity is anything other than just another media luvvie.

Sure, being opposed to dirty hospitals is a fine cause but how do we fix it ? No one actually thinks MRSA is cute and we should have more of it, but how to get rid? More choice ? Bring cleaning services (back) in-house ? Make chief executives personally liable ? What exactly ?

Incidentally - for the benefit of the Telegraph - I'd like the record to show the Victorian reformers used their own money, not the taxpayer's. Ditto, with swords, oak leaves and gold clusters, Bull's remarks on HIV. He doesn't blame the government for people getting AIDS ? Well, quite, but just because you emphasise that you don't think the state should bear full responsibility for the spread of STDs, doesn't necessarily make you a small government conservative (besides, I thought the idea was to get government out of the bedroom) ?

Then there's Oxbridge girl. She is a gritty two fisted brawler, except when she's blindsided by a tricky question like where all the money comes from, in which case she’s Spluttery McSpluttery. So she's just who we need to hold the Executive's feet to the fire.

Hey, it's great that media luvvies and Oxbridge graduates finally have a voice in this country, but with a prospective head of government who is just about ready to disestablish the Church of England in favour of worship of himself, I'd rather have somewhat more robust folks watching the store.

Indeed, the most notable thing in the article is how obnoxious Cameron truly is.
Off the record, people kept alluding to the sheer rudeness of Team Cameron in its day-to-day interactions with party members….

'Dave's got lovely posh manners for old dears - "Thank you for having me!" - but in private his manner reeks of entitlement,' says an (equally posh) Oxford contemporary.
Entitlement, meh ? Who'd have thunk it ?
A leading Tory commentator talks about Cameron's repertoire of put-downs. 'People will stick out their hand to shake his, and he'll walk past, leaving them clawing the air and feeling utterly humiliated. Andy Coulson was brought in to stop him doing that sort of thing, but there's a long way to go. Tory members would have died in a ditch for Thatcher, but they won't do so for Team Cameron. Wait and see how much trouble that causes, come the election.'
Hallelujah! At least some of the drones are finally starting to answer the clue phone, but in so far as the Tories had to hire a guy to try and stop Cameron being obnoxious to his own supporters, I don't think there is a lot down for the rest of us once he's installed as Supreme Being - and that goes double if Parliament is to be reduced to diversity theatre.

Even More A-List Fun

Good to see former GMTV bimbo Esther McVey is keeping up the A-list's reputation for including only the finest political minds.

Talking of Call Me Dave's quest for 'a party that looks like Britney', he's been caught trying to fix the election for, of all things, the chairman of Conservative Future (a.k.a. the Dave Youth). Apparently, the World's Smartest Man has decided the winner has to be a laydee.

See ? That the kind of sophisticated political judgement that takes real brains to come up with. You can't just take some guy off the street and expect him to come up with something simultaneously so sleazy and so pathetic.

Another One Bites The Dust

Looks like the Tories have finally realised why they're doing so badly in the polls: they're not nearly enough like a really scary cult. Just on the off-chance that anyone reading this is off to their conference, take a tip and don't drink the free fruit juice.

Trouble is, even Ayatollah Dave's own Revolutionary Guards are jumping ship. Hmmm.... actually, thinking about it, the 'A' in A-List obviously stands for 'Absent'.

As ever, it's worth noting that the 'A-list' aren't just some random collection of party members. On the contrary, they were a supposed elite, specially chosen by the Nu Tory leadership. Long serving, genuinely conservative, members were purged and replaced by these alleged uberherren, all for the cause of electoral success, yet now it turns out that they can't even deliver that. Talk about Daveism in microcosm.

Ever More A-List Fun

Apparently, the A in A-List stands for 'accused'. At this rate, you soon won't be able to tell the difference between a Tory Party Political Broadcast and Crimewatch. The Tory face cards keep slagging off the grass roots, but it's not the folks in the shires who keep robbing stuff or giving the missus a good kicking.

Evil, Racist, Moron Bigots Proven Right (Again)

The Tories are shocked - shocked! - to find out that Tory A-lister Ali Miraj turns out to be a race-hustling bum with a sense of entitlement nearly as big as Dave's. Who'd have guessed it would end like this ?

Well, alright, maybe one or two of us did. Meanwhile, the Cult of Dave called us Nazis, bigots and Nazi bigots. Also: stupid. Call it a shot in the dark, but as a general rule, I'm thinking that people arguing from prejudice and racism would tend to construct lousy arguments and ludicrous predictions. Not to blow our own trumpet, but the Right called the shot and the pocket here.

No matter how sleazy Miraj's manoeuvring is, that of the Tories who enabled him is worse. Back when he was only targeting the British Right, the Tories thought he was the Martin Luther King de nos jours, speaking truthiness to power. The only thing that's changed is the target of Miraj's vile, racist rhetoric. Back when he was 'merely' shouting 'fire!' in the crowded theatre of British ethnic politics, the Tories were OK with that. It was only when he took a shot at the Dear Leader that their moral sense suddenly started tingling. They deserve each other.

How's that Nu Age Working Out For You ?

FR has a nice summary of events down in Southall. It's worth emphasising one thing though. Tony Lit - the week-long Tory was not, in fact, standing as a 'Conservative' candidate. Nope, the truth is even sweeter.

Even More A-List Fun

Right about now, Tory atrocity stories are coming thick and fast. I was trying to find the right literary allusion for this story, but Laban has found the perfect one for a completely different, yet totally the same situation.

More A-List Fun

Here's a neat description of another upstanding member of the Cameron Youth.

Monday, November 20, 2006

OK, You Win, Libs (Part II)

You know how we keep getting told that the Tory A-lister aren’t a bunch of hopelessly unqualified victimhood hustlers, nope, they’re whizkid bizness people ? Personally, I’ve never been sure of exactly why flacking for Big Pharma (to choose an example completely at random) necessarily qualifies you to send the country to war, but OK, I give up. Yes, Liberals, I admit it, you can always spot a good politician because they’re good at business.
