Oil/Water, Left/Right, Liberals/Self-Awareness

The left is super sulky about GB News, accusing it of stoking bigotry and prejudice. True, GB News hasn't actually made any programs yet, but leftists just know what those people are like.

Nope, the left much prefers the BBC, which works hard to build social cohesion and racial unity... by covering racial atrocity stories from over a quarter of a century ago.

As you do.

(Say, does anyone know who was PM when this groundbreaking initiative to tackle racism happened anyway? The Guardian normally mentions this sort of thing).

Still, you have to admire the flexibility of the Guardian: it recounts lurid stories of racial harassment from back in the day then seamlessly pivots to pointing out that the lack of this harassment now just means white people are still totes raciss but in a different way.

Think of it as the Full Metal Jacket rule:
Anyone who runs is a VC. Anyone who stands still is a well-disciplined VC!
And yet the Guardian claims to be shocked - shocked - that white police officers make sure to get all their ducks in a row before dealing with black subordinates. Really?

Why might that be Guardian?

More to the point though, what is the Guardian really complaining about? Black officers are bought up on disciplinary charges then cleared. And? Doesn't that mean 'the system works'? Isn't that what the left always tells us when people on the right are targeted by deranged PC witchhunts? They might have had their reputation ruined, have run up six figures legal bills and spent the better part of two years with their lives on hold but, hey - they were cleared in minutes just as soon as the jury got involved, so stop whining you wimps!

Make a note of the date the Guardian published this piece. It's the closest we'll ever get to them admitting that the right was right and yes, indeed, the process is the punishment....

Maybe The Problem Is We Just Haven't Thrown *Enough* Virgins Down The Well....

In today's' 'Not A Cult' news, it turns out the Church of Covid has a whole new tactic to appease Wu-tan:

Dr Fauci — the US Government's top infectious diseases expert — said that it was 'common sense' that double-masking would be more effective.

He added it was 'likely' to offer better protection against the mutant strain, which studies show partially evades immunity from vaccines and past infections

Hey, I can see how a mutation might affect the ability to evade the immune system, but I'm not sure how it makes it more likely to slip through a face nappy. Does the mutation makes it smaller? More slippery? Lets it do yoga?

More to the point though, until six seconds ago, anyone who suggested a Boris Burka may not be totally awesome at filtering out viruses was a crazed knuckle-dragger who hated The Science.

Suddenly, all bets are off. It turns out that one face nappy won't do it, but two? That'll do just what they spent months saying one alone would do.

They were lying before but now? Now their plan will totally work!

Hence this guy:

And Dr Benjamin Killingley, a scientist advising the UK Government in the pandemic, also said wearing two masks was 'common sense'.

But Dr Killingley, a member of the SAGE advisory group, also admitted the claim isn't 'grounded in lots of study'.

Actually, 'common sense' said wearing a face nappy wouldn't work, and it was right. Meanwhile, Dr Ben and his pals in the Certified Scientificator Community  who told us it would totally work now want to - literally - double down.

Anyway, I thought we were supposed to be the knuckle-dragging bigots pulling stuff out of our backside! If one of our guys had started explaining that he didn't need to cite studies and stuff, 'cause it was just common sense, init, the MSM would cover it like the Martians landing.

Where does this guy work anyway? The University of the Dog & Duck?

This is not a small thing. A scientist who admits his theories aren't grounded in actual studies is like a judge claiming you don't need any of that 'trial' stuff just to say some guy is totes guilty.

Then again, who needs to do actual research when everyone knows what the answer will be anyway?

The answer is moar masks. It was always going to be moar masks.

To state the (should be) obvious: if there is no possible result that can persuade you to ditch your theories, you're not actually doing science, you're doing religion just without all that God stuff.

Party Like It's 1915!

Say, anyone remember how we were told masks totally worked?

It turns out it was all an Eurasian trick!

Those masks didn't, in fact, work but these new ones totally will!

Isn't that just special?

Up until ten minutes ago if you questioned the efficacy of masks you, sir, were worse than Hitler! Now it turns out that us evil right wing loons were....right.

Again.

Also correct: the theory that whatever happens, the answer is always moar masks!

That's how you know it's based on real science and totally not a cult: when the answer stays the same no matter what the results.

Still, this does raise an interesting question. The last time there was large scale use of cloth masks was in April 1915 and that was only because our troops had nothing better to protect themselves with against German gas. As soon as possible the troops were issued with actual masks. But now the government is insisting that masks are vitally vital but still not important enough for the government to issue actual protective masks.

Apparently, masks are super important right up until the government is required to do something, then all bets are off.

They're Not Elite, They're Just Privileged

Good round up here of the left's track record on the vaccine program. Executive Summary: they weren't just wrong, they were the wrongest people ever.

Personally, I'm as shocked as anyone to find that our liberal elite turn out to a bunch of bone headed drones endlessly parroting moronic talking points.

Still, even that's giving liberals too much credit. Lest we forget, the left's brains trust wasn't just 100% wrong about the UK's vaccine program, they actively tried to sabotage it:
In a particularly unhinged moment, for example, the Runnymede Trust race relations lobby group went to the High Court seeking to have [program head Kate Bingham's] appointment declared unlawful on the grounds that giving 'jobs for their mates' breached the Equality Act.
But, of course! The Deadliest Virus Evah might require national house arrest and Boris Burkas all round but God forbid anyone suggest that the race hustlers might want to park up the clown car for the duration.

Plus how come no one wants to call them conspiracy nuts? That's literally what they are! They spread a conspiracy theory that the Government was handing over control of a vital program to some random crony when in reality she was clearly qualified. That's more obviously deranged than 90% of what the MSM calls conspiracy theories. How come no one wants to deplatform this group of leftists snoots...

OK, I guess I answered my own question!

Being able to share unhinged racist conspiracy theories without consequences is the real privilege!

The Church Of Covid Sets Up An Inquisition

Honestly, if there anything more tragic than wimpy snoots trying to sound all butch?

Seriously?

It doesn't get better:
Sometimes, Stuart Ritchie feels like he’s being pursued by an army of smiley faces. The lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, is not delusional: instead, and somewhat to his surprise, he is on the frontline of a coronavirus information war.
That's it, that's liberal heroism: a wacademic with a lectureship in buzzword studies spending his time cyberstalking critics of the government.

Totes normal, you guys!

Sign of a healthy democracy!

Has there been a better example of the fraudypants nature of the modern left than the Guardian trying to convince us that a publicly-funded purveyor of approved truthiness is some kind of rebel?

Nothing says 'speaking truth to power' like shouting down anyone who disagrees with the Prime Minister!

But, as Bachman Turner Overdrive told us, bbbbbbbaby, you ain't seen nothing yet!

We don't just have phony rebels, we have the phony right too!
I think you can see that the government is indirectly influenced by [lockdown sceptics],” said Sam Bowman, director of competition policy at the International Center for Law and Economics and another of those behind the site...

With most of the group on the right – two thirds, Bowman estimates - there is a sense of reputation management, too. “We were both, independently, really aggravated,” said Bowman. “Maybe it’s the narcissism of small differences – seeing people who are also theoretically on the right making such dangerous claims, it’s exasperating.”
Yep, 'reputation management', that's it. That's why the grifters in 'right wing' think tanks have all embraced Lockdown4Eva. Nothing to do with protecting the interest of their corporate donors by driving smaller competitors out of business.

Of course, if you want the best of both worlds, namely bleeding the taxpayer dry and grovelling to big corporations, nothing beats the average Tory MP: Hence we have this load of old pony from - guess who - Neil O'Brien aka the member for Amazon Prime:
“This idea it’s none of an MP’s business – trying to get to the facts of a deadly pandemic is absolutely an MP’s business,” O’Brien said. “You’ve got to look at people’s testable propositions and see how they’ve panned out. That’s how science works.”
Well, OK, then: how have Neil Ferguson's predictions held up? Or the claims that the 'high cycle' PCR test was totes reliable?  Or claims that Vitamin D had no protective benefit? Or......

Nope, he doesn't like those kind of facts. He's here to hold the public to account on behalf of the government, not the other way round. Hence why he never, ever, brings any of this rage to bear on the people responsible for the biggest single source of infection in Britain.

Yep, he's a sleazy fraud, but what of the Guardian and the wider left? They're been pushing NHS atrocity stories for years (well, since 2010 anyway) and now they've finally got the Tories standing over a line of corpses, smoking gun in hand, they've suddenly decided that the real issue is the uppity peasantry. Sure, they may differ with weasels like Bowman and O'Brien on issues like Corporation Tax but when it all comes down to it, they really are all in this together.

It's the ultimate irony of the Church of Covid: they've put on their Boris Burkas and taken off their masks.

A Cuck Cucksplodes On The Launch Pad

True to it's mission statement aiming to 'push back against the herd mentality with new and bold thinking' UnHerd comes out with a post attacking... Donald Trump.

Yeah, baby, they went there. Daring!

I know what you're thinking:
Hey, DJ, does the post by any chance include painfully pretentious pseudo-intellectualism and shoehorned in references to ancient history while never actually laying out any actual, specific charges against Donald Trump?
You know it does!

Actually, it is groundbreaking in one respect: most TDS posts at least get through the first 100 words before going off the rails. Here are the opening words of this one:

It was one of the weirdest moments of the last four years: President Trump stood before a church, holding a Bible like he'd never seen one before.

Presumably, the point of the stunt last summer was to reassure godly Republicans that he was on their side, during the depths of the BLM protests and riots.

Just a random church? Or St John's Church in Washington DC, the one every US President had worshiped in, right up until Antifa savages tried to torch it the night before?

That was why he was there - he was visiting the scene of the attempted arson of a historic building by fanatics. But never mind that, the key thing is he looked kind of weird - that's some top drawer intellectual analysis right there!

Meanwhile, what were the respectable conservatives doing?

Hiding, mostly. That's what counts as morally upstanding in Cucklandia: being neutral on the whole 'desecrating churches' thing. The Republican establishment spent the whole summer AWOL while America's cities burned but now they're ready to take on the real enemy: their own voters.

And it's not even as if the cucks can claim to be any good at winning elections. Weren't Mitt Romney and John McCain the poster boys for respectable conservatism? How did they do again?

At least DJT won in the first place. These guys got wiped out at the ballot box but apparently, in the US just as in Britain, no matter how many times the cucks stand on the rake, the conservative movement will never need to move on from cuckservatism.

The Guardian Doesn't Do Self-Awareness....

Well, that goes without saying, but this one is just special.

(And not just because an academic at the LSE is calling other people privileged).

Yes, in a society that celebrates victimhood there's always a temptation to spin a grim oop North back story. But there's more to it than that:
Our findings indicate that such misidentifications are built on particular origin stories that people reach for when asked about their backgrounds. These accounts tend to downplay people’s own, fairly privileged upbringings and instead reach back into working-class extended family histories that incorporate grandparents and even great-grandparents. Here people find stories of the past – of working-class struggle, of upward social mobility, of meritocratic striving – that provide powerful frames for understanding their own experiences and identity.
Seriously? Was there no one in the office who suddenly found themselves thinking 'hmmmm...that sounds familiar'

Say, I wonder if there have been any other examples of people using supposed atrocity stories from the past to downplay their privilege and justify bad behavior?
In our report, we argue that these intergenerational understandings of class origin should be read as having a performative dimension; they deflect attention away from the structural privileges these individuals enjoy, both in their own eyes but also among those they communicate their origin stories to in everyday life. At the same time, by framing their lives as an upward struggle against the odds, these interviewees misrepresent their subsequent life outcomes as more worthy, more deserving and more meritorious.
Oh really? People living absurdly privileged lives inventing bogus oppression to justify them acting like pigs?

No, doesn't ring any bells at all.

Like I said over at Julie's place re: Sharon the Starving Sumo Wrestler, this is the result of the left allowing thuggish enforcers to impose a cultish group think. There's no one left around to point out that half the Guardian's output is from race-hustling bums using exactly this kind of argumentation to explain why they earn six figures but they're the real victims and so it's oppressive to expect them to pay parking tickets.

Meanwhile, whatever the downside of pushing supposed meritocracy, it can't be nearly as damaging as having filthy rich celebs leaving their huge mansions just long enough to claim the system's rigged and there's no point even trying.

This Is Perfectly Normal....

'Secret payments to public figures to push government policy'?

You say that like it's a bad thing!

Government ministers paid £63,000 to 42 social media 'influencers' to promote the NHS Test and Trace service, it has been revealed.

The ad campaign, launched last year, saw celebrities including Love Island stars Shaughna Phillips and Josh Denzel share messages of support for the health service and its coronavirus testing system on platforms such as Instagram.

If the Government isn't up to something dodgy, it's sure in first place for the 'Best Impression of People Up To No Good' Award.

Don't expect the MSM to object though - or if they do, it'll be just because they thought they had the monopoly on fanboying over authoritarian creeps.

And, yes, this guy is just one more of them telling us to barricade ourselves in the house to stop the vampires getting in, then going for a moonlight stroll.

They Took A Knee...Right In The Nuts

Who says Sir Keir lacks the common touch?

Labour today piled more pressure on Boris Johnson to shut down professional football after players flouted Covid-19 rules again and were accused of losing the 'moral case' to continue as infections rise and the NHS struggles to cope.

Yep, that will certainly win back those lost voters: demanding Lockdown Xtreme while making sure there's nothing to watch on the TV too.

At risk of stating the obvious, given the insane amounts of money clubs pay to secure their player's services, the average Premiership training ground may be the safest place in the country. No one's going to pay forty million for a young starlet then not do everything they can to reduce the risk of losing him for six months to Chinese Lung AIDS.

Hey, at least the training grounds are a lot safer than certain places I could mention. Someone should ask Sir Snooty about that.

I guess the player's union needs to start making those big donations to Labour. Kickback enough cash to Labour and not even killing people is enough to derail the gravy train (if only there was a well known former prosecutor the media could ask about that case).

Of course that does raise the other point. Professional football has spent months literally bending the knee to the left. They fed the crocodile on filet mignon and now they're under the team bus.

Shockingly, it turns out liberals are prepared to fill acres of newsprint hailing the courage of millionaires who denounce guys working the evening shift in Krap-e-mart for their white privilege but when push comes to shove, the essential rule of dealing with liberals is the same as it ever was: you can get in bed with the left but they won't respect you in the morning.

Today's 'Conspiracy Theory' Come True...

Hey, remember how people used to say that the liberals would hijack the 'Prevent' program to harass conservatives and the left said they were crazy?

Eton College reported its dismissed Master to the anti-terrorism Prevent programme for allegedly advocating male supremacy and the glorification of violence.

The elite £42,500-a-year public school reported their concerns to their local authority over teacher Will Knowland's lecture.

School chiefs dismissed Mr Knowland after he refused to take down an online lecture tackling radical feminism and the concept of 'toxic masculinity' from his personal YouTube channel.

Who knows? Maybe they were genuinely worried that he might be plotting to....what exactly?

Make a really sarcastic video? Include a sock puppet called 'Ms Feminazi'? Or even escalate to doing a livestream?

The contrast with the treatment of the Manchester Arena bomber is striking.

As with much else in modern life, we're being asked to accept that there are two classes of people in the world. Our speech is violence but their actual violence is treated as all but a particularly colorful rhetorical flourish.

A system that explicitly designates a large chunk of the population as an underclass deserves no respect. Hence why I refuse to be outrageously outraged by events in Washington right now.

She Didn't Win

Hey, I'm not saying this isn't good news, but like Ace says, how did we ever get to the point that judges were required to specifically rule that people's free speech rights include the right to not participate in a mentally-ill man's Gender Cosplay Fantasies?

Who voted for that?

This is a classic case of the process being the punishment. This case has been going on since 2018. I mean, it's great that the courts finally ruled the right way, but it's not like she even got a nice trophy or a winner's rosette. She's had two years of official harassment and now she's won the right not to be harassed anymore.

Meanwhile, who lost?

Not the professional activist weirdo who wages lawfare on his critics

Not the police officers who routinely ignore actual crimes but decided to pursue this lunacy.

Not the prosecutors who ran with a completely ludicrous interpretation of the law.

Not even the judge who acted as though she was a philosopher queen unconstrained by your Earthling laws:
In February this year radical feminist Miss Scottow, 40, was handed a two-year conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation, with district judge Margaret Dodds telling her: 'Your comments contributed nothing to a debate. We teach children to be kind to each other and not to call each other names in the playground.'
At risk of stating the obvious, there's nothing in the law about being'kind' and no requirement for any comments to contribute to a debate - otherwise Owen Jones would be on Death Row.

It's not a small thing when a judge invents an absurd standard out of thin air to close down debate. A judge who makes the law up as they go along is like an accountant with his hand in the till. If calling a fat guy in a bad wig 'he' is worth £1,000, how much should an activist judge be fined?

Failure Is Not An Option - It's An Opportunity.

Say, did someone say conspiracy theories keep coming true?

At this point, I'm pretty sure that if Godzilla attacked Brighton then the Covid Cultists would cite it as a reason for even tighter mask mandates.

No, there's no reason why a giant monster should be deterred by people wearing face nappies, but at least we don't have ever-increasing numbers of monster attacks running in parallel to ever-tightening mask mandates so, you know.... wearing Anti-Monster Cloths is still more scientific than anything these Covid Cult has come up with.

Meanwhile, back in the (increasingly less) real world, it turns out the utter failure of Boris Burkhas to achieve much of anything means we need moar burkas!
Wearing a face mask while shopping for Christmas presents may slow the spread of coronavirus scientists say.
Current rules only require the coverings to be worn inside shops, with many quickly ripping them off as soon as they step back outside.
But leading experts have now urged Brits to keep their masks on in crowded outdoor spaces, such as packed high streets.
'Experts' is doing a lot of work here.

Seriously:
Professor Melinda Mills, a sociologist also at Oxford University, added that Briton was an outlier in insisting masks should only be worn inside - and not outside in public.
'When we looked at the data in June, there were 71 countries who required everyone in public to be masked,' she said.
It's the science of sociology, you guys. If only there was a branch of mathematics which could allow us to look at how infection rates vary between countries with different rules!

I'm sure she might have mentioned the possibility of checking this out but she had to rush off as she's got some time booked on the new 8 Trillion Watt laser in the Sociology Labs.

Isn't that just special though? These people have spent months telling us tO lISTEN tO tHE eXPERTS. Meanwhile, when it comes to tightening the noose everyone's an expert. Hence the appeal of the Church of Covid - simply adopt their absurd mantras (as propagated by the Government, huge corporations and 90% of the media) and you too can be hailed as a fearless warrior for the public good.

"Alexa: What Is Today's Example of An Alleged Conspiracy Theory Becoming Current Policy"

OK, technically it was last week, but still: here we go again:

Britain will remain in some form of lockdown until at least March despite the roll out of coronavirus vaccines, Professor Chris Whitty has warned.

The chief medical officer said not enough Brits will have been inoculated against Covid-19 over the next three months to keep the most vulnerable out of hospitals.

He urged people not to let their guard down now a jab had been approved, saying it would be 'really premature' and 'absolutely the wrong thing to do'.

Who could possibly have seen that coming?

Not the MSM anyway - and not just because they were all partying with Kay Burley.

But at least the lockdown should help, right?

People in Wales have been 'strongly advised' to not spend Christmas with family members they don't live with after infections surged by 65 per cent in three weeks.

Say, wasn't that the home of the super strict lockdown?

Why, yes, yes it was:

.Wales is already under a stricter lockdown than England, with pubs and restaurants required to close from 6pm and a nationwide alcohol ban across all hospitality venues.
Oops.....

It was a lockdown but not the right type of lockdown, apparently.

You know, you'd have thought they'd have pointed that out at the time, not waited until the whole of Wales went through it then claimed they totes knew it would fail, you guys.

That's the thing. There should, ideally, be several differences between a senior scientist and Madame Zelda what does the astrology column in the local rag, but the big one, the key one, is that scientists are supposed to make actual, *testable* predictions. What they predict will either come true or it won't.

Meanwhile, the common theme in our nation's descent into madness has been scientists shouting that The End Is Nigh, then after the fact explaining that we got lucky and the virus was shot by a second gunman on the grassy knoll.

Seriously, has anyone heard any of these guys admit that, maybe, kinda, their models weren't so useful after all? Nope, it's science but the type where you don't update your theories no matter what happens.

You know, that kind of science.

Look at the mask mandates. The rules keep tightening and the cases keep going up.... which just proves the rules need to be even tighter. There are literally no results of mask mandates that could not be used to justify further tightening: cases down, it works! Cases up? We need more rules!

This is not science, it's the literal opposite of science. If your theory stays the same no matter what the results are, you're not actually doing science.

Honestly, next to these guys even Creationists in Kansas look credible. I mean, have you ever seen an actual, living dinosaur?

Cuckservatives Find A Dung Heap To Die On

Hey, I'm so old I remember when the cuck wing of the conservative movement couldn't go five minutes without talking about the vital vitalness of 'electability'. Once Fat Dave started his reign of error in 2005 there was no stopping these people from lecturing everyone on how important it was to ditch any actual conservative policies in pursuit of electoral success. Actual conservatives had to get with the program, you guys, and realise this wasn't the hill to die on (where 'this' meant any actual conservative policies whatsoever).

Well, it turns out a funny thing happened just recently: I believe the technical term for this is an 'open goal'...so where are the squishes? If winning votes is your thing, deporting homicidal lunatics would seem to be just the ticket.

Hey, free clue wets: there's a reason why it's the crazy wing of the Labour Party which has taken up this cause while Sir Keir is busy hiding under the stairs. Labour could always introduce a manifesto commitment to protect the rights of Persons of Homicide but, strangely enough, they're happy to outsource it to Mr Justice Crazypants and the rest of the unelected freaks on the bench.

Nope, the non-insane parts of the Labour Party know they're juggling nitroglycerine. Deporting felons is not just the right thing to do (duh) and also a vote winner (duh), it's also the perfect example of why people gave the Tories an eighty seat majority in the first place. Nobody voted for violent lunatics to be given an Access All Areas pass to Britain, it was just one more thing the snoot class managed to sneak into law via phony baloney, non-adversarial lawsuits between activist lawyers and pro-open borders government departments.  Now, at last, the left is being forced out of the closet and made to stand up and state openly what they've always believed ('Open Borders Uber Alles').

I don't think it'll go well for them... except the cucks seem desperate to let them off the hook. As Meatloaf would say, they would do anything for electability, but they won't do that. Everything else is up for grabs, but deporting killers? That's just so dreadfully suburban!

The MSM: Speaking Truth From Power (Part 2,457)

Lest we forget, long before the WuFlu made it obvious, British academia was already dominated by woke nonsense. The evidence is all over the place, but the undoubted winner of Best In Show is the rehab industry, a train wreck mash up of Marxism, New Age lunacy and the weirdo obsessions of a small group of privileged upper-middle class brats.

How full of it are these people? Even they don't believe their own doctrines, at least to judge by cases like this.

Two things virtually all criminologists agree on: escalation - meaning that over time this type of offender will commit more and more serious crimes - and, linked to this, that cruelty to animals often acts as as a gateway to committing the same type of crime on human victims.

All of which is by way of saying that this is a potentially extremely dangerous individual and so, naturally, the police have done.... what?

Don't ask the perfessional journaljismers! They've given it the memory hole treatment - no doubt influenced by the Protection of Sadistic Creeps Act (2019).

But wait... I just checked and there's no such act. No one ever voted for this. If it's true that the loony card is being used to let dangerous savages walk free then that's surely something the public has the right to know.

Apparently, justice *doesn't* need to be seen to be done, after all, just as long as it involves muh mental 'elf.

Local journalism is super important, you guys, but just not the type that involves reporting stuff.

We should totally give these guys a bail out!

Hey, I might not be a Certified Member of the Order of Journalists, but I'm thinking that a bloodthirsty maniac walking the streets might actually make a better story than, say, painting gorillas (no, seriously).

Britain's Second Worst Historian Has Some Very Deep Mind Thoughts

Everything might be going to Hell right now, but at least we can look back on the good old days when Britain's elite were at least *actually* elite.

Oops... guess the left won't even let us do that.

You know, for an unbiased organisation, it's surprising how whenever Beeboids come out with some deranged theory, it's always deranged in the self-same way. First we had the Countryfile bimbo explaining how the countryside was totes racisss you guys and now this:

BBC historian Lucy Worsley has said the Battle of Waterloo should not be trumpeted solely as a 'British victory' because of the firepower brought by European allies.

She said the Duke of Wellington deliberately glossed over the role the Prussian army played in helping defeat Napoleon in 1815 in order to boost morale back home.

Huh? Napoleon had been utterly beaten and was doomed to die in exile. How much more of a boost did it need?

But you read on and find out that she has Captain Hook's grasp of history:
Worsley said that Wellington's first cable back to London all but whitewashed their involvement
"Cable".In 1815.

Did he follow it up with a Livechat on Youtube?

And it gets better:
She said: 'The European allies referred to the battle as the Belle Alliance and saw it as a European collaboration, but from the earliest dispatch sent back to Britain after the battle, Wellington was calling it the Battle of Waterloo after the place it was fought, playing down the collaborative nature of the victory.'
Yes, he called the battle after the place it was fought, the fiend!

Wait until someone tells her the Battle of Jutland didn't actually take place on the Jutland peninsula.

It's the tip of the iceberg, girl!

Meanwhile, back in the non-insane parts of the world, the casual observer is free to note how carefully any Germanic influence has been edited out of this famous painting.

Literally everyone who has even a passing familiarity with the battle knows how it all came down to the ability of the Anglo-Dutch forces to hold on until the Prussians could arrive. Asking how the battle would have gone without the Prussians is like asking how D-Day would have gone without air superiority. If it hadn't been for the Prussians then the battle would not have been fought that way in the first place.

Seriously, if there was any justice in the world this daft bint would be banned from calling herself a historian until she can find at least ten people who can name either of the two sets of buildings used to anchor the allied position but don't know about the Prussians.

Mind you, ludicrous, provable, inaccuracy has never been a problem for the country's worst historian (and fellow BBC favorite) Mary "Typical Roman Family" Beard

Lucy Lockdown Totally Won't Pull Freedoms Away This Time Charlie Brown

If you were watching TV tonight you’ll have had the chance to see professionals at the top of their game do what needed to be done under difficult conditions – unless you foolishly turned over from the football and watched the clown show at No 10 instead.

Honestly, at this point I’m so jaded I can’t even remember which of the Doom Brothers is the actual Prime Minister. Whitty or Vallance? Who cares? They’re basically clones anyway.

Nope, my mistake: it’s actually the Blonde Bumshell that’s PM, so basically the job of balancing the scientific advice – we’re all going to die -  with the wider needs of the country falls to a guy who hasn’t yet mastered use of the condom.

I take it all back: we are doomed!

At least we’re doomed unless we have a lockdown – you know kind of like the three week lockdown we had from March until July, except more so. It’s kind of a Spinal Tap lockdown this time – it goes to 11 so it’s bound to be better.

It turns out Lockdown 1.0 wasn’t a True Lockdown, in fact True Lockdowns have never been tried… sort of like communism, except under communist systems you have to queue to get into the shops, you can only buy the bare essentials once you’re in there and the media is a mere government mouthpiece endlessly parroting the party line even if they were saying the complete opposite the day before.

So, you know completely different.

Honestly, at this point we may as well have elected Dear Ol’ Jezza. True, there’s the whole ‘anti-Semitic lunacy’ thing but given how much effort 77 Brigade is putting into pushing the meme that the lockdowns would totally have worked except for evil rebels, it can only be a matter of time before the Government starts ranting about sabotage by either the Kulaks or the Jews – and given no one knows what a Kulak is, it’s not looking good for Maureen Lipman.

Apparently, BoJo is pushing his own version of the Third Way: all the downsides of Marxism but with Crony Capitalism too!

On the plus side, BoJo has generously held out the olive branch of allowing people to celebrate Christmas relatively normally – and, seriously, isn’t this why everyone votes Conservative? They want a government with a laissez faire approach to Christmas Dinner?

This is how far we’ve fallen since 1990: from freeing people to decide which school Junior goes to, to freeing people to decide who to invite for Xmas lunch.

At this point, I like to think the delay in the press conference starting today was down to BoJo being like Professor Gill in the infamous Star Trek episode 'Patterns of Force' with Matt Hancock desperately trying to get him stoned enough to come out with this garbage (also, that does mean some passing aliens might take pity on us and intervene. After all, the Prime Directive only holds for vibrant, living cultures and we sure aren’t that anymore).

And that’s not the worst of it. The Usual Suspects – hello 77 Brigade – are busy pushing the line that the only problem with our three-week March-July lockdown was that it finished too early and allowed the virus to spread in ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ August.

So, you know, what’s coming next!

New Year, New Lockdown!

They’re not even hiding it. Look at this:

I am confident we will feel very different and better by the spring

Feel very different and better’?

Seriously? That’s their offering: ‘you’ll get used to it’.

Apparently, you’re a conspiracy nut if you wonder what exactly they mean when they talk about a ‘New Normal’ and ‘The Great Reset’ but, BTW, expect the government to be regulating who you can have stop by for tea ad infinitum.

That’s how effective lockdowns are! You just need to keep them in place for ever and everything will be fine! Or maybe not. Who knows? Who cares? Not BoJo, and not Whitty or Vallance, or any of the MSM drones. They’re making out like bandits, the rest of you can go to Hell.

The Pitch Is Grass, The Campaign Is Astroturf

I'm so old I remember when the left was outragously outraged by undeclared political donations and secret backroom deals - but that was then and this is now.

This is just proof that if you want to know what the left is up to, look at what they claim the right is doing, then double it. They've spent years claiming the right is secretly piling up the roubles, meanwhile they're secretly using licence payer's cash to fund a phony-baloney campaign fronted by a multi-millionaire.

This - this - is what they want to make 80 year old widows pay for.

How about advancing the cause of social justice by making millionaires pay for their own publicity? Or at least ask him if he'll donate any future endorsement or sponsorship deals to charity?

Meanwhile, the BBC is claiming to be reporting impartially on a campaign their own people have helped push. Conflict of interest doesn't really cover it.... but if you doubt the political motivation of it all recall this: Markey-Mark was born in 1997. In other words, his years of hunger were under Nu Labour. By the time the Evil Tories came in, he was already embedded in the academy system as a youth player.

Now when was the last time they mentioned that?

Gary Lineker: The Git That Keeps On Grifting

If I understand his public pronouncements correctly, Gary Lineker believes that going to the shops is just like being on the Western Front, with the ever-present possibility of an invisible killer leaving you dying in agony with 'froth-corrupted lungs'.

Oh... and also he forgot his protective mask.

Huh?

These two things can't both be true. If he really believed there was the possibility of agonising death in every lungful of air, wouldn't he make sure to keep as well protected as possible?

But that just leads on to the bigger question. Lineker has been a High Priest of the Covid Cult from day one, ever ready to denounce the heretics who refuse to wear their Boris Burka. Now it turns out even he doesn't obey his own fatwas. And?

Ah yes, that's the key point right there. The Covid Cultists have suddenly taken time out from blood-curling denunciations of the unbelievers to tell us that, hey, c'mon, it's no biggee. Just one of them things. Don't be such a drag, you guys!

You? You deserve to be burned at the stake if you question whether or not a face nappy can really keep out a virus, but members of the Church of the Covid? They're obviously on the side of the righteous even if they don't, strictly speaking, follow their own demented rules.

That's the issue right there. It's always been the real issue. Just like with the Referendum what it's all about is establishing two grades of citizenship. There's us scum, and then there's the special people, whose lives are too sophisticated and complex for them to be expected to comply with their own rules. Face it, they're just better than us....

I've Got 'Wish I Was In Stockholm Syndrome'

While Sweden is open for business, we're all still chained to the radiator in Matt Hancock's cellar.

What's worse, some weasels even lobbied for the latest set of restrictions:

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has called for a 'circuit breaker' or stricter lockdown to stop the spread of the virus.

He told The Daily Telegraph last night: 'For me, it is only a matter of time because the virus isn't able to be controlled in the city with the restrictions we have now.

'We need a circuit breaker or stricter lockdown to try to stop the virus spreading.

Yep, this guy:

I know what you're thinking but no, it was actually his brother who was strangled by Princess Leia.

At least we've found one guy who might actually get some protection from corona through wearing a Boris Burka - just as long as he keeps it on all day.

I'm guessing it makes sense though: virtue signalers are almost uniformly amoral scum, so why wouldn't a health nazi be a physical wreck?

You know you're a leftist when... you're worried about your health so you want everyone else to change their lifestyle.

Joe is fat so the rest of us have to stay indoors - but at least we'll be safer there, right?

No, my bad! Turns out the sunlight/Vitamin D thing has been debunked by research. And when I say 'research' I, of course, mean 'no research at all'.

So, for those of you keeping score at home, HMG is lobbing huge amount of cash at various megacorps to trial dubious new technologies, but they can't spare pennies in the pound to check out a perfectly safe, easily available, potential treatment.

Like I keep saying, it's not a 'conspiracy theory' if it's something they're actually doing.

Also, I'm starting to think we owe Captain Edward Smith a posthumous apology. At least he only hit the iceberg once. If Captain Hancock had been on the bridge, the Titanic would have been bouncing round like a pinball.

Meanwhile, in das Reich, they're trying something else. Remember how a lot of the early cases were people who'd shared private jets, chalets in ski resorts or the like?  In other words, places with very little actual air flow? The Germans do, hence why they're trialing a whole new technology, called a 'window'.

It's not as daft as it seems. Infection not only requires exposure to the virus, but exposure to enough of the virus over a short time (think of it as needing a high enough dose). In fact, I'm sure our government will soon go the same way, just as soon as they can work out a way to give BAe Systems a one billion pound contract to develop smart windows connected to the internet.

Right now though - not being liberals - we're free to do this stuff for ourselves: don't eat like a pig, maintain a balanced diet, get out in the open air as much as possible, and keep a good airflow if you must stay inside.

You know, sort of like your mother always told you to do. In fact, one might even say this kind of knowledge was the accumulated wisdom of generations of our ancestors on dealing with this sort of thing.

Say, wasn't there an organisation that used to support this kind of thing? Some kind of group for conserving traditional values?

Beats me: I'm stuck down here, chained to the radiator, with Matt Hancock screaming that I put the muzzle on my face or I get the hose again.
