The Left Is Eating Its Own

Maybe she is a good writer, but she sucks at victimhood poker.

Then again, how much sympathy can you have for someone who played the Chick Card like a violin in the early days? Are we sure there weren't any up and coming white guys whose scripts got binned in favour of her eleventeenth script about a tough, independent woman making her way in a male-domina.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

No-one who'd seen her last effort ('Under Suspicion' - three parter, last part tonight) wouldn't use that 'maybe'.

Unless you really believe that modern day murder squads really are run by misanthropes with the management skills of weaver fish and staffed by social inadequates, people you wouldn't trust to tie their own shoes, and incompetent, petulant young females who are surely only there to tick someone's diversity sta...

Oh. Hang on.

Maybe she is a genius after all!

Heh!

Check out 'Under Suspicion' on an iPlayer if you can. and tell me she's still writing that script. If you can find anything approximating a 'tough, independent woman' in that one, I'll eat Sherlock Holmes' deerstalker...

Turing word: hedach Yes, it gave me one...

The only really good thing La Plante's done is to get David Holmes into the soundtrack business, so we have her partly to thank for the superb sound of Ocean's 11 and Out Of Sight.

But her screenplays suck. Prime Suspect was awful. The police figure out who done it about ten minutes in and we then get to watch them doggedly refusing to change their minds for two hours. And, in the end, they were right: their only suspect was indeed the perp. Agatha Christie it ain't.
