Quote Of The Day

I can’t imagine what it must be like to hold an ideology where Wal-Mart outrages me more than the slaughter of 600 people.
Libertas on Hollywood's Che crush.

Satire Has Its Heart Torn From Its Chest

Truly, the greatest achievement of modern liberalism is to render the reductio ad absurdum obsolete. There is simply nothing so absurd that liberals won't suggest it as serious policy.

Look at the way liberals demand that we respect the faith of other cultures, irrespective of how violently insane the tenets of that faith may be. How many folks on the right have pointed out that if mere slaughter is no reason to bring a religion into disrepute, then surely that means we have to respect...

Say no more.

Liberals 4 Free Speech

While liberals invent ever more ludicrous forms of hate speech, they're enraged at companies that try and crush dissent using these wacky, newfangled laws on defamation.

Fortunately, truth is an absolute defence against defamation charges. Folks charged with hate crimes aren't that lucky, so clearly we have to worry about our fundamental human right to lie with impunity. Hmmmm.... how bad can these companies be if libs can only argue against them by lying like rugs ?

Controversy After 'Controversial' Ruled Too Controversial

It's that controversial!

And thus was answered the question as to whether or not alleged 'hate speech' laws are anything to do with actual hate, or just a way of silencing the right. Hate speech laws were loopy enough back when we had the liberal's ever-expanding list of banned words, but now it turns out calling things what they are is hateful too.

Still, at least we've got liberals on record now as claiming that Tablighi Jamaat are examples of mainstream Islam (they must be if you can't call them controversial or radical, right) ? Let's see how that works out for them.

Human Rights: Liberalism's Own Doctrine of Infallibility

Not to give aid and comfort to the enemy, but liberals: if you're trying to pass yourself off as a totally non-partisan human rights group, you probably want to make sure your output gives at least some passing mention of rocket attacks, bombings, decapitations, honour killings, hostage taking, school sieges, hijackings and flying airliners into buildings - amongst other issues - before moving onto the horrors of water up the nose.

Or, to put it another way, you can use all the ominous music in the world, but people are still going to notice that the designated victim's head still remains firmly attached to his body.

Think about what Amnesty are saying here. They're not arguing that waterboarding is going too far, they're suggesting that we don't even need to think about terrorism in the first place. Bombings, smombings.... can we get back to slandering America now ?

This is how liberals argue. Which is to say they don't, in the sense of using reason and logic, instead they announce that if you're opposed to them, it means you're a NAZI (and pay no attention to the dead civilians behind the curtain). So the state of play is that sawing heads off is OK, but water up the nose is a terrible breach of human rights.......hmmm, would waterboarding be OK if you sawed the head off first ?

Liberals mock Christians who cite Biblical arguments for their political positions, but at least Christian theology is a serious body of work. On the other hand, human rights seem to be the political equivalent of lycra, endlessly stretching to accommodate whatever the left's position is this week. If nothing else, Amnesia Intentional's decision to throw its hand in with the head-choppers and school hijackers does at least throw into sharp relief just how corrupt the whole cesspit is.

Professionals!

Via Ross, a chance to see professional educators in their natural habitat.

It's like one big argument for school vouchers. My favourite is a toss up between the guy who told the author 'you will get your twenty pieces of silver.' and the bloke who asked 'Have you never heard of the word 'solidartry'?'

Man's Best Friend

Good dog!

Apparently, he's biting the people British dogs just won't bite. I guess he must have been one of those Open Border Collies. If it turns out the other two bitees were a lawyer and a journalist, I for one will be off to Colombo like a shot [NB: despite earlier reports, only three people were bitten. Two other social workers did collapse foaming at the mouth, but that was only because someone said something positive about Christianity].

The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus And A Professional Teacher Walk Into A Bar...

Funnily enough, I almost got caught up in one of these teachers' demonstration last week. Apparently, there was a march planned for 2 PM. I realised what was going on when six stoners turned up in the town square at 2:25, asking everyone 'so, like, what were we doing last time ?'

Mind you, it is lucky they made such a big thing out of being on strike. Considering how many of them are on the sick anyway, who'd have noticed otherwise ?

Some have suggested there's a mixed message in a group of people who keep insisting they're professionals going out on strike. True enough, but a mere wrinkle compared to the massive humbuggery of claiming they're the most vital element in the education system, even as they deny all responsibility for the collapse of that self-same system.

There's an interesting comparison to be made with another well-known public service. In so far as leftists had spent years chanting 'kill the pigs', it was obvious that come 1997, the police would find themselves governed as occupied enemy territory, complete with puppet managers anxiously imposing the new order. But what's with the teachers ? Where is their 'Macpherson Report' ?

Nope - in education all the outside pressure is to try and get them back to traditional teaching. It was the teachers themselves who decided to catch the 3.10 to Looneyville - this is funny because it's true. Even so, in education reality frequently trumps satire.

All of which is by way of saying that I think I've found out where the professional teachers are - they're tied up teaching the children of all those moderate Muslims.

Sucker Punched Again!

I knew it! It was a trap all along. Just because the BBC managed to put together the first two episodes of this season of 'Dr Who' without any inappropriate references to anal sex - admittedly a personal best for those guys - doesn't mean these rancid lefties have finally changed their socks spots.

First up, we had last week's insanely on-the-noses slavery episode - complete with the old libel about the British Empire being built on slavery. Now we've just had an episode featuring an evil billionaire, a sinister private school and aliens involved in a sinister plot to attack the Earth using the pollution from cars. And that wasn't the best of it.

We also had soldiers depicted as a bunch of bone heads (see, I told you), references to Club Gitmo plus an extra-special rant from the Doctor on the evils of GUUUUUNS. All it needed was a pervey Priest and liberals would never need to watch anything else ever again.

As they used to say 'Because of the unique way the BBC is funded... we can afford to stick two fingers up to a large chunk of our potential audience'. That's all there is here: just institutional arrogance on display. There's certainly no artistic justification for it.

Yes, Mr Liberal, I'm aware science fiction is supposed to use unusual settings to illuminate deeper truths, but where are they ? All I'm seeing is a bunch of liberal talking points strung together. Look at Joss Whedon, he's a card-carrying moonbat all right but is, say, 'Serenity' a left-wing movie or a right-wing one ? Not an easy question. That's because Whedon has something more profound to say about freedom than just this week's liberal soundbites. These freaks ? Not so much.

Tempting though it would be to dismiss all this as kids stuff, there's an important point here. The old line claims that philosophy tells us what is good, while literature tells us why its good. The BBC's (allegedly) factual output is more obviously biased, but that doesn't mean a show where one character spits out an accusation that another character has turned someone 'into a soldier' - as though military service were the worst of all possible fates - doesn't have an effect, the more so when it's aimed at kids. After all, at least with the factual output the BBC has to make some kind of effort at balance. On the other hand, it looks like the world of Doctor Who is full of all manner of strange creatures - but no articulate conservatives.

Anti-Military Smears 'Common' At The BBC

Speaking personally, nothing says 'reliable' like the unsupported testimony of a pair of convicted felons.

I guess those multiple layers of fact-checking aren't so important after all ? Oops - my mistake: the BBC did check with both the MoD and the Association of Chief Police Officers - both of which rejected these claims.

So, for those of you keeping score, on the one hand we have two convicted criminals claiming 'everyone does it', and on the other flat-out denials from the relevant bodies. And this is what the BBC considers a verified story ?

But don't say they don't support the troops...

UPDATE;

OK, I've been asked in the comments why I'd believe anything from ACPO ? Answer: 99.9% of the time I wouldn't, but as well as being lefty hacks, they're also the most hoplophobic organisation in the known universe. These are people who think GUUUUUUNS frequently break out of their cabinets and roam the street killing people - I can't believe they'd pass up the chance for more hysteria. On the other hand, the BBC never actually comes out with any evidence for widespread smuggling of guns, except the testimony of the felons in question.

Sure, opportunity probably means that soldiers probably smuggle more guns than, say, the staff at McDonalds, but how common is it ? We don't know - the BBC doesn't say, all it does is put up the convicts' claims up against the rebuttal from the MoD/ACPO as though the level of smuggling was a purely subjective matter: some say 'high', some say 'low', who's to know ? For an organisation that can't seem to use the word 'Muslims' without preceding it with 'vast majority of peace-loving', this lack of context is shameful.

It Got Intercepted By The Austrian Navy

Further evidence of just how right the Tory top brass are to ignore the idiot proles in their base.

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Steyn D'Jour

Another day, another great point from Steyn:
The embittered white men are just about the only demographic weighing these candidates on their merits. The significant proportion of women and blacks in the Democratic base for whom identity politics trumps all is what's stopping either candidate from gaining the momentum that would have emerged in a contest between two squaresville dead European males. It's the identity-uber-alles blocs that prevent the black guy from finishing off the feminist or vice-versa.
Indeed. The most visible feature of the modern leftist is a sense of grievance. Their arguments might not make any sense, but they're sure all the problems in the world are down to The (White) Man.

There's no discernible ideological spine there, just a shared set of hatreds. The trouble for the Democrat brass is that after spending decades cultivating their supporters sense of victimhood and encouraging them to wallow in insane conspiracy theories, they can't hardly put the genie back in the bottle now.

This Is Why They're Called 'Ecoloons'

Liberaliasm might be rubbish at dealing with real world problems, but when it comes to stupid solutions for fantasy problems, they're right on it.

Apparently, though, even liberals don't believe their rhetoric - well, either that or 'global' means something different to what you'd think it means. And that's without the other big problem with this cunning plan. Check out the first line again.

Blowback - Special Footy Edition

The Ian Wright thing just gets better and better. The Guadianistas' Guardianista Martin Jacques has the real story - don't be shocked, but it turns out to be all about the racism!

That proved too much even for some of those freaks, but my sympathy meter is firmly stuck on zero. As evidenced by the decision to hire a slavering thug like Wright in the first place, the BBC has assiduously promoted racial victimhood, so all this case really proves is the inherent problem with feeding crocodiles. Still, I did like this insight into the liberal mind:
Given that one-third of Premier League players are black, this is a disgrace. It would not be accurate to say that the BBC operates a colour bar in football punditry, but it is certainly the case that black representation is, at the very best, token.
Get that ? The massive over-representation of black footballers not only isn't a problem, it means the BBC should discriminate against the natives so that their own line-up will be similarly unbalanced. Uh, OK.

Today's Glory Of State Healthcare Story

Like always, you wonder why exactly 17 year old pizza boys who run pedestrians over face the full force of the law, but thirty-something medics can screw up with impunity and all we get is the usual blather about lessons and learning.

Equally, check out this bit:
The shocking truth about Alwyn's death has taken almost four years to emerge but the Callaways have always been determined eventually to expose the appalling catalogue of errors which cost his life....

The couple realised their son had been in distress for seven hours only when they received a copy of the medical notes....

When the hospital did not admit mistakes or apologise, the couple complained to the Healthcare Commission and in July 2005 took their case to the Ombudsman.
You know, I'm thinking lessons would be learnt much faster if these guys didn't keep lying like rugs. Meanwhile, I'm wondering about the likely response of the left to a private business that killed a child then spent years lying about what happened.

Steyn D'Jour

The great man notes that there's no precautionary principle for social engineering:
But, at the same time as the Royal Institute and The Guardian and all other bien pensants are in a mass panic at the thought of the krill having to adjust his way of life, they're positively insouciant about massive changes to our own habitat. You like fox-hunting? You're not entirely cool with gay marriage? You prefer English common law to this new Euro-pudding legal code? Tough, shrugs The Guardian.

Why Won't These Racist Knuckle-Draggers Trust Us ?

I see the Tories response to the defection of Bob Spink to UKIP has been predictably classy. The Reverend Dale tried to exhume an old and long debunked smear.

For the record, Spink's rhetorical question about 'sending them back' was about the failed asylum seekers Blair had promised to deport. In other words, nasty old Spink was mocking the PM for not following up on his promises - or, as we used to call it back in the day 'being an opposition MP'. In so far as the policy under discussion was one supported by both main parties, it's hard to see why suggesting it be implemented as planned was so controversial. Dale's whiny complaint boils down to claiming that Spink's comment could have been offensive, if said in a completely different context.

Well, quite.

But's let's - for the sake of Dale's absurd argument - pretend Bob Spink is a Nazi thug who spends the day petrol bombing Asian-owned stores. How come the Tories were happy to have him representing them in Parliament ? Until yesterday he was one of the lads. Tory MPs were happy to break bread with a racist thug. Seems like institutional racism to me...

Seriously though, what does this say about the Tories claim to Eurosceptism ? They claim to support virtually the same policies as UKIP, except it turns out that UKIP members are all Nazis too, or - to quote Dale's commentators - 'the usual purple-faced, sherry-necking suspects', 'fruit and nut cases' and also representatives of the 'the net curtain twitching lower middle class.'

Hmmm.... so if I understand the Tories position properly, it's that Eurosceptics are the scum of the Earth, and the Tory Party welcomes their votes.

As Opposed To A Serious One ?

Here's a free clue: if you're complaining about not being taken seriously, try not to come out with a phrase as redundant as 'comedy jester'.

Still, the race-hustling dead beat does have a point - just not the one he thinks he does.
I feel like I am just there as a comedy jester to break the ice with Alan Shearer and Alan Hansen, who just do run-of-the-mill things. I can't do that any more. People want something different."....

[Wright] told Broadcast magazine: "Times are changing. I don't know how long young people are going to want to sit down and watch that same old "jacket, shirt and tie" format.
Yep, - that's his indictment of BBC Sport: poor dress sense.

The charge is moronic, but what else did you expect ? The real question is what it says about our achingly PC friends at the BBC that they chose a violent semi-literate imbecile as their avatar of black authenticity in the first place ?

UPDATE:

Got to give the Beeb some credit though - they have moved fast to find a replacement who not only lacks the dubious record of violence and racial arson, but also manages to speak more coherently.

Steyn D'Jour

I think a healthy society needs both God and guns: it benefits from a belief in some kind of higher purpose to life on earth, and it requires a self-reliant citizenry. If you lack either of those twin props, you wind up with today’s Europe — a present-tense Eutopia mired in fatalism.
Exactly - EUtopias greater sofistikaytion is an article of faith even amongst some on the American right, but where's it parked ? What kind of cultural supremacy is it that manifests itself as social collapse ?

Patsys On Parade

The biggest problem with the whole Nu Tory A-List project isn't that it meant purging the ranks of many committed conservatives. It isn't even the way it tacitly accepted, and even exploited, the Balkanisation of British society into mutually antagonistic interest groups. No, the worst offence is that it strikes at the heart of our system of government.

The separation of powers demands a strong legislature ready and able to hold the executive to account. Doubtless the Cameroonatics would claim that under the enlightened leadership of the Ayatollah Khameron, there will be no need for archaic traditions like checks and balances. For the rest of us though it's fair to ask if, in so far as the Tories have been packing their candidate list with a 1970s disaster movie array of stereotypes, doesn't that mean we risk a weak legislature at the time when it's needed most ?

Answer: yes.
It is a mistake to assume that modernising Tory candidates are closely attached to Team Cameron. They are more likely to be independent, even lonely, spirits, taking advantage of the ideological vacuum at CCHQ to concentrate on local initiatives or single issues. No doubt some candidates would like to be more closely associated with Cameron. But he is a strangely inaccessible figure, even by the standards of political leaders. The candidates I met did not refer to 'David': they called him 'David Cameron' or just 'Cameron'. Membership of Team Cameron is pretty well closed these days, even to the most desirable recruits.
Translation into English:
Dammit, Sumita,we've given you the 'Hindu chick with one leg' slot, so sit down, shut up and enjoy it, and if we need anyone to deal with vindaloo or artificial limbs, we'll be sure to give you a call.
Or, to put it another way, if your local Tory PPC is a lesbian, ex-drug addict, singing nun, forget it: she'll have about the same political influence as the paperboy.

Hey, for all the supposed horrors of the olde times right, once a memeber of a victim group actually got elected, he was treated as an MP, not as a mere token.

It interesting to note just who the advance guard of the new order actually are. Shaun Bailey sounds great as ever, but that rather rams home the point. Surely - revisionist nonsense to the contrary - a guy like that would always have been a natural candidate, and on merit too, rather than as the beneficiary of a sleazy victimhood spoils system.

But check out the other two. There''s Dr David Bull, stylishly dressed medic....

Hey, that's not me - he brings it up himself and, come to think of it, it is just about the only way in which Dr Diversity is anything other than just another media luvvie.

Sure, being opposed to dirty hospitals is a fine cause but how do we fix it ? No one actually thinks MRSA is cute and we should have more of it, but how to get rid? More choice ? Bring cleaning services (back) in-house ? Make chief executives personally liable ? What exactly ?

Incidentally - for the benefit of the Telegraph - I'd like the record to show the Victorian reformers used their own money, not the taxpayer's. Ditto, with swords, oak leaves and gold clusters, Bull's remarks on HIV. He doesn't blame the government for people getting AIDS ? Well, quite, but just because you emphasise that you don't think the state should bear full responsibility for the spread of STDs, doesn't necessarily make you a small government conservative (besides, I thought the idea was to get government out of the bedroom) ?

Then there's Oxbridge girl. She is a gritty two fisted brawler, except when she's blindsided by a tricky question like where all the money comes from, in which case she’s Spluttery McSpluttery. So she's just who we need to hold the Executive's feet to the fire.

Hey, it's great that media luvvies and Oxbridge graduates finally have a voice in this country, but with a prospective head of government who is just about ready to disestablish the Church of England in favour of worship of himself, I'd rather have somewhat more robust folks watching the store.

Indeed, the most notable thing in the article is how obnoxious Cameron truly is.
Off the record, people kept alluding to the sheer rudeness of Team Cameron in its day-to-day interactions with party members….

'Dave's got lovely posh manners for old dears - "Thank you for having me!" - but in private his manner reeks of entitlement,' says an (equally posh) Oxford contemporary.
Entitlement, meh ? Who'd have thunk it ?
A leading Tory commentator talks about Cameron's repertoire of put-downs. 'People will stick out their hand to shake his, and he'll walk past, leaving them clawing the air and feeling utterly humiliated. Andy Coulson was brought in to stop him doing that sort of thing, but there's a long way to go. Tory members would have died in a ditch for Thatcher, but they won't do so for Team Cameron. Wait and see how much trouble that causes, come the election.'
Hallelujah! At least some of the drones are finally starting to answer the clue phone, but in so far as the Tories had to hire a guy to try and stop Cameron being obnoxious to his own supporters, I don't think there is a lot down for the rest of us once he's installed as Supreme Being - and that goes double if Parliament is to be reduced to diversity theatre.

Nuts, Nonces And Now Nazis

Libs must really be worrying about the whole internet deal. They've tried claiming the unregulated flow of information drives people mad and leads to perverts running wild, now they're claiming that allowing the proles to communicate directly with each other aids tyranny. And yes, the argument is every bit as good as you'd expect.

See, I Told You

Bad Cartel.

Good Cartel.

Any questions ?

Just A Thought.....

Apologies if I'm the last person in the world to notice this, but in so far as the open borders lobby base most of their arguments on the supposed economic benefits of open borders, isn't there a glaring contradiction there ? Since no one in their right mind can argue that the country benefits from allowing professional criminals, stoners and other low-life into the country, doesn't that argue for at least some minimal border control ?

Never Let Us Forget the Sacrifice of the Royal Army

No, I'm thinking this is No 10's own contribution to the festivities.

I'd take politicians talking about patriotism more seriously if every time they talked about Britain it wasn't blindingly obvious their entire knowledge of British life came from quickly scanning a one page cramming sheet on stuff Britainish people like.

Red on Red D'Jour

Carrying on the theme of the femiloons ever-flexible interpretation of 'zero tolerance', the left's endless games of ideological twister have managed to land them in a tangled heap once again. Muslim sex offenders claim they shouldn't have to take part in the Prison Service's Ferapee sessions.

See, that's clue number one right there. When a religion prohibits group therapy, but not rape, you really have to question the whole PoMo 'all cultures are equal' thing. Still, don't be surprised if the left's knee-jerk dhimmitude suddenly gets kicked into touch here.

Consider the issue under discussion: the remission of sentence available to perverts who agree to take part in therapy sessions. Who knew ? But while liberals may not want to publicise it, this is a perfect example of how liberals think crime should be handled.

Liberals genuinely believe that criminality is a psychological condition, sort of like OCD or claustrophobia. Leftists believe that all we need to do is arrange for some beardey-weirdy to stop by the prison with a can of psychic WD-40 and even the worst of predators will be good to go. Of course, this also has the side-effect of liberals scoring well-paid jobs in the rehab industry but you have to make sacrifices for the common good, right ?

Hence why libs are on the horns of a dilemma. Their normal no-guts reaction would be to fold, but then that would mean either early release for people even they admit are still dangerous, or alternatively, admitting that the whole rehab industry is a fraud and a farce, and all the group therapy in the world doesn't make the blindest bit of difference anyway.

Hey, say what you like about astrologers, but at least Jonathan Cainer doesn't spend his time letting rapists out of jail.

Private Sector Vs Public Sector

The blood letting has started at BA, after the T5 fiasco. Things are a little gentler in the public sector. Besides, BA lost shed lods of luggage, while the NHS only lost the one thing:
Hospital staff using politically correct language when describing dangerous patients are putting the public at risk, according to a confidential report revealed today.

It condemns a London NHS Trust after health workers' fear of causing offence led to serial rapist Terrence O'Keefe escaping from hospital twice in three years. He is still at large.

Staff at Lambeth Hospital failed to properly describe the danger posed by the rapist when he was transferred to King's College Hospital for treatment in February - because they were afraid of "offending" him the report says.
So the shrinks worry about offending sexual predators. Is it just me or does anyone else think this must be like when pub landlords become alcoholics ?

As ever, a vote of thanks too to the femiloons. They're all about the zero tolerance, except where it could do some good. No enemies to the left, eh, girls ?

It really doesn't get better on closer inspection:
O'Keefe, 39, escaped after he was assigned two nurses instead of a police guard. He had been in the secure mental-facility at Lambeth Hospital after being convicted of a string of rapes.

During the transfer to King's College he was described as a "medium secure patient". That vague language meant staff may not have realised how dangerous O'Keefe was, despite his escape from the same hospital in October 2005, the report concluded.

O'Keefe fled from his ward having not been handcuffed and has been on the run ever since. Police have warned he is "dangerous and should not be approached".
If a private business had behaved like this, libs would be demanding public execution of the board, but this is the NHS so we get this:
It concluded the Trust needs to find a way of saying how dangerous a patient is without offending them, adding: "Consideration therefore is required as to how we portray or use common language whilst remaining sensitive to the patient's treatment needs."
See, that's the whole thing. I'll go out on a limb here and say that most people, given a choice between public safety and offending a rapist by calling him a rapist, well, we're not talking a tough choice here.

But no: even now the libs won't start speaking English:
It concluded they did "not address public protection issues and risk of absconding behaviour", and said such patients should now routinely be handcuffed.
Absconding behaviour. Much like the Titanic had a problem with 'flooding behaviour'. When can we start with the 'sacking behaviour' ?

Due Diligence: It's Not Just For Capitalist Pigs Anymore

Don't be shocked, but painfully hipper than thou guide book publishers Lonely Planet have got a reality problem. Mind you, it's not like they have to worry about shifting units - they're found a really generous set of investors: us.
Lonely Planet publishes more than 500 titles, mostly travel guides, selling more than 6.5 million books a year. In 2007, the BBC Worldwide bought a 75 percent share in the company.
Well, at least they've got the same standards of fact-checking.

Obama: Ethnic Rage Boy

Laban points out a rare case of an MSM journalist getting splashed with some reality. Still, she skilfully manages to swerve round the elephant on the table, euphemistically talking about 'young men like this'. Like what, Eleanor ?

Hey, we can't blame Eleanor for not taking on a complete headcase, but we can expect her to call racist thuggery what it is, instead of hiding behind vague PC drivel.

Funnily enough, 'vague PC drivel' pretty much sums up the MSMs coverage of Barrack Obama too. Actually, I kind of like Bazza. He's proof that in America anyone can grow up to be an obnoxious elitist, but I'm not sure the soft-focus coverage is doing the Democrats any favours long-term. Sooner or later, people are going to notice that the most likely Democrat candidate for President of the United States is a full-on loon.

Obama has so far been allowed to skate by the MSM. The narrative is that Obama is an ideological Mr Magoo, so fixated on the big picture that he keeps failing to notice that his entourage is stuffed full of lunatics like the Reverend Wright. Unfortunately for the left, Obama's own writings make it clear that he's more than capable of holding his own in the lunacy stakes.

Inevitably, it's taken Ann Coulter to point out just how crazy Bazza actually is. Take his notorious condemnation of his grandmother as a racist 'typical white person'. Now read about the incident that exposed her supposed racism.

Yep, granny was a racist because she was worried about being hassled by a hobo. Hmmmm....

Spare us. No one who wasn't already thoroughly marinated in grievance culture could possibly take such a pathetic incident as proof of anything much. As Ann points out, it supposedly took Obama twentry years to realise that the Reverned Wright was a racist kook, but he instantly locks like a laser onto the real source of granny's hobophobia ?

It's not as if Bazza doesn't have form. Even mum doesn't get a break. But don't call him a racist kook:
In college, Obama explains to a girl why he was reading Joseph Conrad's 1902 classic, "Heart of Darkness": "I read the book to help me understand just what it is that makes white people so afraid. Their demons. The way ideas get twisted around. I helps me understand how people learn to hate."

By contrast, Malcolm X's autobiography "spoke" to Obama. One line in particular "stayed with me," he says. "He spoke of a wish he'd once had, the wish that the white blood that ran through him, there by an act of violence, might somehow be expunged."
Charming!

Actually, it's not only the racial rheroric. What's striking about Obama's scribblings is that he seems to hover endlessly on the edge of deranged violence. But wait... that turns out to be a racial issue too:
Wanting to punch his white friend in the stomach was the introductory anecdote to a full-page psychotic rant about living by "the white man's rules." (One rule he missed was: "Never punch out your empathetic white friend after dragging him to a crappy all-black party.")

Obama's gaseous disquisition on the "white man's rules" leads to this charming crescendo: "Should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors, they would have a name for that, too, a name that could cage you just as good. Paranoid. Militant. Violent. Nigger."
Yes, if you punch people, they call you violent, which is exactly the same as using racial epithets and it's all part of the conspiracy to make Obama seem paranoid.

Ultimately though, Obama's urge to wrap everything in racial rhetoric is a wasted effort. What sticks in the mind isn't the racial aspect so much as Obama's overweening narcissism. Take his advice on handling white people:
It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves.
Presumably as opposed to all those cultures where people snarl obscenities at each other while furiously gesticulating ?

But no: merely having to abide by the basic standards of civilised discourse is a dreadful imposition on the Great Barrack. As Ann says:
We treat blacks like children, constantly talking about their temper tantrums right in front of them with airy phrases about black anger. I will not pat blacks on the head and say, "Isn't that cute?" As a post-racial American, I do not believe "the legacy of slavery" gives black people the right to be permanently ill-mannered.
Enough already. Racist thugs beating up bus passengers aren't caught in a 'cycle of violence', they're just racist thugs. The Reverend Wright is a race-hustling scumbag. And Obama ? A nasty, spoilt elitist, perpetually enraged that the world won't pander to his elephantine sense of entitlement.

Of course, in so far as Obama's ideology consist of little more than the reification of his own psychological issues, it seems he truly is the perfect flag bearer for modern liberalism.

British Aid Workers Provide Very Late Term Abortions To Suffering, Third World Peasants

Who'd have thunk it ? Apparently, our troops in Afghanistan aren't just a bunch of hapless Elmer Fudds being chopped to pieces by the Talibunny after all.

I guess the left will have to switch back to Plan B - claiming that all the dead were guests at a really big wedding.

PC vs Darwin

It ended how you'd expect.

Today's Insane School Admission Story

Okay, these guys may be going a little far. But then it's an open question just how sane can you be when faced with an insane system ? Again, surely some leftists must look at this and wonder just how it came to this ? Still, at least it's better than the 11 plus, that was arbitrary.

More Liberal Family Values

AS Gordon Brown’s chief fixer, Stephen Carter has the unenviable task of selling the prime minister to the public. Now it can be revealed how Carter’s wife has helped revamp another British institution - BBC news.
Call me crazy, but if the BBC really want to know why people aren't watching them, they might just find a clue in the above paragraph.

Sounds Fair To Me

But why single out Italy ?

Steyn D'Jour

Islam is everything but a race. It's a religion — which is to say (if you're an atheist like Amis and his friend Christopher Hitchens) an ideology. It's also a political platform and an imperialist project, as those terms are traditionally understood. It has believers of every colour on every continent. So, if Islam is a race, then everything's a race — from the Elks Lodge to the Hannah Montana Fan Club to the British Airways frequent flyer program. Moreover, to denounce as "racist" any attempt to discuss Islam is to accept that being Muslim, like being black, is a given, fixed, unchangeable. That's what its adherents believe: 36 per cent of young British Muslims think that anyone attempting to leave Islam should be killed. But there's no reason for non-Muslims to sign on to that.
Indeed. One of the biggest mistakes the anti-jihad movement has made is letting liberals set the terms of the debate. How else could we have arrived at the insane position where Islam is a complete system for living, valid for all times and places, but we're not allowed to discuss what it actually involves ?

Run To The Hills!

Beats me why liberals have been making so much of this loon. Yeah, yeah: BNP member in 'insane' shocka! Who outside the left ever expected anything else ?

The only people who ever claimed to take the BNP seriously were liberals. The left has spent years trying to convince us the BNP are actually a bunch of Bond villains, endlessly poised to seize power and institute the Fourth Reich. The only way we could avoid such a fate was by junking our freedoms. As Umbongo reminds us, liberals have even worked themselves up into a rage after a newspaper published an election advert from the BNP (key quote from that story: "[Geoff Martin, the newspaper's editor] said he received 11 calls complaining and only one was from a reader.")

So which BNP are we talking about here ? The one full of spooky weirdos or the one that's so powerful the mere sight of one of their ads may cause this country to descend into a new age of darkness ?

Arrrrrrrr, Jim Lad, Phone My Lawyer

The most annoying thing about the whole human rights scam is hearing liberals claim to be upholding traditional British values. Really ? So how about checking out how an genuinely olde worlde problem gets treated under human right law.

I might be nitpicking here, but this isn't exactly how things were done in the old days.

Godwin ?

I don't care, it's still a good point:
The problem is, the Weimar Republic had [hate speech laws]. It used them freely against the Nazis. Far from stopping Hitler, they only made his day when he became Chancellor. They enabled Hitler to confront Social Democratic Party chairman Otto Wels, who stood up in the Reichstag to protest Nazi suspension of civil liberties, with a quotation from the poet Friedrich Schiller:

"'Late you come, but still you come,'" Hitler pointed at the hapless deputy. "You should have recognized the value of criticism during the years we were in opposition [when] our press was forbidden, our meetings were forbidden, and we were forbidden to speak for years on end."

The Nazis would have been just as repressive without this excuse, but being able to offer it made Hitler's task easier. Like Canadian supporters of hate-speech legislation, supporters of the Weimar Republic thought that their groups and causes would occupy all seats of authority and set all social and legal agendas forever. Shades of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association or the Canadian Jewish Congress! They couldn't envisage the guns of their own laws being turned around to point at them one day.

Islam + Sodium Penthol = Fun!!!!

You know why whenever the MSM wants to educate us morons on the nature of True Islam, they always turn to some native British professor of dhimmi studies ? It's because 'True Muslims' have a tendency to go off message.

How Come People Like This Never Want To Come Here ?

Hey, it's equally valid, right?

Big Brother Is Watching You Mow The Lawn

Even I, experienced chronicler of the social pathology known as liberalism, occasionally find myself wondering how these people manage it. Surely there must be some liberals who can see the insanity of this ?

Not only that, but while the snoopers were on one side of town checking the catchment areas weren't being breached, Trading Standards were over the other side checking allegations that the local pizza parlours had a secret agreement to split the market up along the line of main street.

No, not really.

It's an analogy, see ? I making the point that if private companies did what state schools do as a matter of routine, it'd be highly illegal. Of course, for the analogy really to hold, one of the pizza shops would have to give half the customers botulism, but without getting closed down because the environmental health officers prefer to work with them on a five year plan to get it down to 40%. Plus at any one time half the staff would be either stoned or absent.

Strangely, a system which is run entirely for the benefit of the suppliers has been having trouble attracting public support. Hence why parents of young children risk finding liberals hiding in their bin. Terrorists liberals claim to understand, but parents who fail to sacrifice their children's prospects to the cause of providing liberals with jobs for life ? Just plain evil!

Like I've said before, these lives aren't being wrecked for any real reason. It's not that the country is running low on good education, or we need to leave behind a rearguard so the rest of the kids can make it back to Dunkirk. Nope, it's simply because no party in Britain will hold the edutards to account. The more complex the plans politicians unveil to reform education, the more obvious it becomes that they'll do anything except grab some beardy stoner by the scruff of the neck and throw his worthless backside out on the kerb.

Guns Don't Kill People... Novelty Tops Kill People

Does hoplophobia correlate with insanity ? Consider this from the Times (and no, Mr MSM, you don't get off the hook just by blaming someone else):
The £300 Defender hoodie makes the wearer’s upper body invincible to every bullet up to a high velocity rifle, its makers claim.
But if you think the rifle round deflecting clothes are stupid, wait until you see what the professional hoplophobes come up with:
But gun control groups said today that the company was practising “exploitation at its most grotesque”. They predicted a rise in gang violence, saying children would buy the hoodie as a status symbol.

Raymond Stevenson, a spokesman for Don’t Trigger, an international anti-gun campaign based in Brixton, London, said: “It’s not helping kids to provide them with bullet-proof armoury. These companies are just encouraging the escalation of the urban warfare.
Yep, so now we've not only got guns jumping out of the locker and running down the road shooting people, we've now got aggressive clothing making people shoot each other too. Who says the left have issues with personal responsibility ?

Outrage Early Warning System

Oh, this'll be good!

New Kind of Politics Update

Turns out to be just like the old kind.

More Classy Liberalism

Michael Moore on the death of someone who made good films.

Multicultualism: Where Is It When We Need It ?

Don't be shocked, but the judicary have finally found a form of cultural endeavour where Britain stands head and shoulders above the wogs. And what is it ? The law, of course.

It gets better. It turns out that they have a problem with the court system in Jordan and so they have no option but to grant asylum to a terrorist.

Again.

Since the courts seem to be going through a round of Groundhog Day, let me point out that yet again asylum is being granted not to someone who also happens to be a terrorist, but to someone precisely *because* he's a terrorist. It's only because he faces the prospect of being called to account for his crimes that he can claim to be persecuted. If he was a law-abiding pharmacist from Amman, he'd have to go through normal immigration procedures - only murderous sociopaths qualify for the left's express lane. And even with all that, the logic on show is truly a wonder to behold:
Ministers had been confident he would be booted out after securing the Memorandum of Understanding with Jordan in August 2005. It gave assurances he would not be tortured or ill-treated.

But, in a ruling which displays the true reach of human rights law, the Court of Appeal said that - while Qatada might not be harmed - witnesses who may be called to give evidence against him in any future trial held by the Jordanian authorities may have been tortured.
Get that ? They admit the whole 'suspects being tortured' dog won't hunt, but potential witnesses at a future trial could hypothetically be tortured at some future date (possibly by Elvis).

Well, you can't say it couldn't happen, but I'm thinking that as a rule, judical findings shouldn't include more hypothetical leaps of faith than a Diane conspiracy theory. Still, it does reveal an interesting mindset. After all, Jordan is part of that international community the left is so anxious to grovel too. Yet liberals give Jordan the 'Minority Report' treatment when it comes to discussing ill-treatment that hasn't, strictly speaking, happened yet. In other words, when Jordan is ranting at the UN, it's the voice of moderate Islam, but you still can't trust these people to run an honest court (unlike us).

Just to check the scorecard again, that whole 'bigamy' thing is not only an archaic Eurocentric concept, but we'll even waive a few other laws just to save you from the perfectly predictable consequences of your actions. On the other hand, the fact a sovereign nation chooses to run its court system differently to our own is proof positive that the whole nation is clearly run by sadistic sand monkeys just waiting to torture all and sundry. A-huh!

Churchill, Thatcher: Extreme

Both of them liked 'The Road to Serfdom', see ? Interesting to note the reaction over at Borg Central though. Apparently, even some activists are starting to work out that the Tory top brass hate them.

More Fun With The Lawless Courts

When not letting murderers get off, judges are free to return to their core business: deciding what the law should really be. It's actually worse than it appears - check out the judge's comments:
[Mr Justice Newman] said the changes were "unfair" to those already in the UK under the programme and there was "no good reason why those already on the scheme shall not enjoy the benefits of it as originally offered to them".
Well, it's really interesting that the judge can see 'no good reason' for these changes but calling something 'unfair' doesn't exactly strike me as firmly based legal reasoning.

Judges and other liberals can yammer all they want about the majesty of the law, but when you look at the actual logic on show, you wonder when exactly the High Court started channelling eight year olds. There's not even the pretence of basing their decisions on legal principles, it's all emotive drivel.

Like I keep saying, checks and balances are supposed to work both ways. This case shows just how far out of wack things are. An elected government introduces a perfectly reasonable (and popular) policy and is blocked by a far-out loon on the bench yammering about 'fairness'. Never mind the specifics of immigration, crime and the like. It all counts for nothing just as long as a handful of off-the-scale moonbats on the bench are allowed to block the clearly-expressed will of the British people.

Great Moments in Judicial Independce

Let's check the rules here: when an elected representative of the people criticises a sentencing decision, that's a grave assault on the principle of judicial independence , but when a member of the legal profession slaughters an outsider, and is then bought before a legal tribunal staffed by his legal colleagues, which exploits a Frankensteinian reimaging of the law to let him off, why, sir, that's the very model of a functioning justice system.

Liberal Sense of Irony Still MIA

The Guardian is just enraged! They claim the law is being used to bully people and silence public debate. You know, sort of like this or this or this or this or this or even this.

Mind you, at least the Guardian is in trouble for actual defamation. A true measure of sauce for the goose would involve Polly Toynbee being arrested and charged with promoting hatred after she claimed Tesco's own brand bread was rubbish.

Left Keeping It Classy

I guess the Guardian saves the nice obituaries for people like this "warm, funny and blunt" charmer. Meanwhile, the death of one of the movie greats gets this:
Having marched alongside Martin Luther King in the early 1960s, he subsequently swung to the right, endorsing the 1964 Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, railing against what he saw as political correctness and later campaigning for George W Bush....

The actor claimed to see no contradiction in his early support for civil rights and his later role as cheerleader for the NRA.
This isn't even an argument - it's libel dressed up as cultural criticism. Which is ironic becuase the same article gives us an insight into just why Hollywood is circling the drain:
To his detractors, Heston could be an inflexible, monolithic presence, weighed down by his own mantle of heroism and pious sense of virtue.
Well, at least Hollywood's moved on from 'heroism' and 'virtue'. Also from 'audiences' and 'profit'. I guess we need a movie starring Hayden Christensen as a loveable drug dealer. That ought to get the punters flocking back.

Huge Media Corporation Abuses Power To Crush Competitiors, Avoid Public Scrutiny

See, this is why we need a state broadcaster. You wouldn't catch the BBC indulging in this sort of thing.....
Kevin Spacey, the Hollywood actor and theatre director, has accused the BBC of breaching its strict advertising guidelines with TV talent shows like Any Dream Will Do and I'd Do Anything.

The Oscar-winning star said that the corporation was "crossing the line" and creating unfair competition by airing programmes in which aspiring singer and actors compete for lead roles in West End musicals.
Indeed. Every now and again some Beeboid tries the 'Blue Planet' defence - the claim that we should go easy on the BBC 'cause, hey, every year or so they produce one program of genuine quality. And all that for only £3.5 billion pa.

But that's not the only thing. Not only is the BBC an expensive way to produce a few quality programs, there's the other thing Spacey points to: just how many quality productions don't get made by independent producers because no matter how good they might be, the BBC can crush them like a bug anyway ?

Don't expect anyone on the left to ask this question. The folks who're convinced big corporations secretly control the weather, CD sales and who'll win the FA Cup have a 180' blind spot when it comes to this corporation - and don't expect the Nu Tories to do anything either.

It'd be easy to mock Nadine Dorries for this but at least she's honest. More to the point, she's already made herself a marked women with her opposition to liberalism's favourite operation and I'm fairly sure she can't be the only Tory in Westminster. Still, in so far as MPs now admit to a relucatnce to hold the BBC to account for fear of retaliation, that does kind of end the debate over whether the BBC is too powerful (plus it also nicely sums up just how worthless the Tories are).

NUT Lunacy Round-Up

Now the dust is finally clearing - and the pot smoke dispersing - it's time to round up Mick, Roz and Ziggy's annual loonfest.

We were almost lulled into a false sense of security when the conference opened with delegates claiming that weak parents were creating a generation of spoilt kids incapable of being disciplined. Fortunately, normal service was resumed with their general secretary adding this:
Steve Sinnott, the NUT's general secretary, said the commercialisation of childhood is partly to blame since businesses used increasingly aggressive marketing tactics and "pester power".

"Parents are struggling in a commercialised world to deal with poor behaviour on the part of their children and that is spilling over into schools, making it more difficult for teachers to cope with those youngsters,"
See ? It's capitalism's fault that the kids are all bratty. A private equity firm buys up a chain of hotels and all the kids in 3B riot. Well, they do in Steve's bonce, anyway.

Just days later we were finding out that not only were the kids an undisciplined rabble, they were also over-regimented due to the testing regime. It's a mob, but a well-drilled one.

Total: 6

Next up, we had the incoming union president claiming the best way to unscrew state education was to nobble private schools - presumably the same way you can improve your cooking by shooting Jamie Oliver.

To his credit, Greenshields didn't even try and cloak his thuggery behind the usual blather. Well, either that or he thinks it's self-evident that the reason why Hell St Comp is so awful is because the rich kids are using up all the good education. Actually, given who elected him, I'm going with option two. It's not like the NUT have ever hidden their deranged hatred of the independent sector.

Lunacy Grade: 10 Cheries

Cake Had & Eaten Factor: 1 Camerons

Total: 10

In possibly the high point of the conference, the NUT took on the Army - although disappointingly not in the literal sense. The NUT's complaint was best summed up by this guy:
Paul McGarr, a teacher from east London, said only when recruiting materials gave a true picture of war would he welcome them into his school.

These would have to say: "Join the Army and we will send you to carry out the imperialist occupation of other people's countries," Mr McGarr said.

"Join the Army and we will send you to bomb, shoot and possibly torture fellow human beings in other countries.
So let's have no more talk of how teachers are agenda-driven kooks. Still, this set me to thinking: in so far as soldiers are apparently a bunch of gullible dunces brainwashed into becoming steroid-crazed savages roaming the world randomly raping, killing and torturing, how come these murderous zombies manage to bamboozle the kids so easily ? Surely that raises questions about the quality of education these kids are getting ?

Then again, teachers aren't against all forms of killing. The kids might not be mature enough to decide to join the army, but they still have the right to make certain other choices. Thank Gaia there's no chance of a girl being left 'possibly injured or mentally damaged' by an abortion at fourteen!

Ditto, as recent events have reminded us, the teachoids don't mind the right sort of propaganda. Apparently, it's no to 'Saving Private Ryan', but yes to 'Shaving Ryan's Privates'.

Lunacy Grade: 10 Cheries

Cake Had & Eaten Factor: 3 Camerons

Total: 30

By this stage even the mildest of us must have been wondering if these people weren't all stark raving mad. Answer: yes:
Drug addiction, eating disorders and obsessive behaviours are common among teachers, a union says.
Some of us would suggest that driving the average teacher to drugs is like driving a fish to swimming. Still, that's not even the best of it:
Tens of thousands suffer under the pressure of excessive work, classroom monitoring and inspections, it says.
Yep, it's all our fault for sadistically insisting on ensuring they're doing the job for which they're paid. It's kind of a Heisenberg deal: they teach brilliantly, but only when we're not allowed to monitor them. I guess all we can do is give them a huge sack of cash and hope for the best.

Lunacy Grade: 6 Cheries

Cake Had & Eaten Factor: 1 Camerons

Total: 6

Talking of huge sacks of cash, the NUT managed to squeeze in the annual 'Insane Pay Demand'. A mere 10% pay rise this time round.

Lunacy Grade: 7 Cheries

Cake Had & Eaten Factor: 1 Camerons

Total: 7

And finally.... a back-flip of industrial proportions. The NUT called for more religion in state schools. So the Army can't recruit in schools, but Al-Quaida might be able to. And this from the folks who rant about the eeeevil fundies whenever the topic of faith schools comes up.

Of course, it's all just another way to nobble the opposition, and quite a smart one in its own way. The NUT has worked out that if everything's special, nothing's special. So instead of militant atheism, they're going to argue that all religions are just super, from Animism to Zoroastrianism. Either way, you end up with a big blob of post-modern relativistic gunk.

The trouble for the NUT is the number of atheist parents desperate to get their kids in faith schools. It can't be the God thing that does it. I 'll take a shot in the dark and say that maybe it's the contrast between the ethos of the average faith school and the nihilistic mess of schools dominated by stoners ranting about imperialist occupations.

Lunacy Grade: 8 Cheries

Cake Had & Eaten Factor: 3 Camerons

Total: 24

***************************************************************************

So there you have it. That was the collective wisdom of a bunch of collectivists. And what have we learned from Britain's teachers ? Evil rich people are screwing up education, and we need to give teachers a huge pay rise. Faith in schools is good, but faith schools are bad. The kids are over-indulged brats incapable of being disciplined, but we can't check how well teachers are doing because that'll drive them crazy. You can show 'Brokeback Mountain' in schools, but not 'Heartbreak Ridge'.

Say, anyone know why so many new parents suddenly remember they're Catholic ?

Today's 'Zero Tolerance' Story

Read this article here, and consider that the Soaraway Sun is censoring the worst parts of this case.

The closest we get to a hint of what's really going on is the news that no less than seven of his flock were prepared to perjure themselves to protect a rapist - plus a herd of Burkahbots supporting him in the public gallery.

Hmmm... is it just me, or would seven police officers lying to protect a rapist have the MSM churning out ten page specials on 'Pervert Police' and wondering if there was a 'Culture of Corruption' ?

Again, you are invited to imagine the likely reaction to right-wingers being involved in this kind of thing. Hell, don't imagine anything - see what actually happened when a UKIP MEP made an off-the-cuff comment about working women.

Let's check the scorecard here: jokes about fridges = liberal outrage, support for rape as a weapon of religious warfare = zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Ditto, I think we are entitled to draw conclusions about a religion where the spiritual leaders can call for more sexual assaults without anyone turning a hair.

Don't hold your breath waiting for liberals to get it though. Judge Timothy King criticised the mullah for 'hypocrisy'. Well, no. Hypocrisy would be something like a liberal judge who gives a violent rapist a term of seven and a half years (i.e. three years and change).

There's a deeper point here though - apart from the fact the femiloons have once again gone AWOL. This case rams home just how pointless it is for liberals to assert that Muslims don't believe in attacking the 'innocent'. Well, yessss, but...
"Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet," the Imam says, according to the report. "If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain."
I said it before, but I'd take liberal multiculturalism much more seriously if they ever showed the slightest actual knowledge of other cultures. Instead, liberals believe the rest of the world is full of fellow Guardian readers, but with funny hats.

Hey, the right might get accused of disrespecting the RoP (as if!), but at least we do Jihadists the courtesy of believing they mean what they say.

Multiple Layers of Factchecking...

I give up. Us amateurs in the Blogosphere will never be able to match the high standards of the MSM.

Exactly

How come all this liberal yapping about social cohesion, inflammatory speech and the like only goes one way ? How come, say, publishing bogus atrocity stories defaming the Army doesn't draw any condemnation from the left ? Doesn't that also provoke hatred ?

Canada's Deborah Gyapong wonders what would happen if Canada's notorious Human Rights Commission - the guys persecuting Steyn - were complimented by a Patriotism Commission. Well, why not ? Don't all the same arguments hold true for both - and with swords, oak leaves and gold cluster for Britain ?

Tory Grass Roots Find Strange, Bony Growth Running Down Back

Could it be ? The battered wives of politics have finally developed a spine ? England Expects passes on news of the first stirrings of rebellion in the Tory grass roots. The drones are angry about the Cameroonatics flagrant rigging of the MEP candidates list. Why were they rigging it ? Need you ask.

You know it says something about Cameron's view of representative democracy that he has made it a deliberate part of his strategy to get deadbeats elected. So much for the idea of holding the executive to account.

For that matter what does it say about the Tory Party's claims to conservatism ? What is conservatism if not an ideology that believes in empowering the man in the street ? Yet every time the rubber meets the road, the Tory top brass make it clear they think their own members are a bunch of Neanderthals. After all, think about what the Tory face cards are saying here. Either they're admitting their favoured candidates are rubbish, or they're saying they believe that the membership are voting down excellent candidates just 'cause they're girlies. Ah huh!

Apparently the Tories want to set the people free, but only free to agree with them. Otherwise all bets are off.

Clash of the Cults

Victimhood poker - it gets everywhere:
Two primary schools have withdrawn storybooks about same-sex relationships after objections from Muslim parents....

The decision was made to enable the schools to "operate safely" after parents voiced their concerns at meetings.
I don't get it ? Are they saying that there's a possibility of violence or something ? I didn't think gays had it in them.

Personally, I'm kind of tempted to convert to Islam, if only the Tiny Minority of Extremists will let me into the secret of their energy levels. These guys must really cover some ground - liberals keep telling us how few of them there are, but they still turn up everywhere.

Mind you, don't expect anyone in education to be picking up the clue phone. They're clearly already past the liberal insanity event horizon:
Bristol City Council said the two schools had been using the books to ensure they complied with gay rights laws which came into force last April.

They were intended to help prevent homophobic bullying, it said.
There're words for people who concern themselves with the sexuality of five year olds, and none of them are 'professional educator'. But let's check the state of play here. Teachers think sixteen year old kids are too vulnerable to be allowed to meet with soldiers, but five year old kids get the full Brokeback Mountain deal. Ah yes!

Liberal History: Like Real History, But Without The History

In so far as conservatives are mind-numbed robots, it baffles me how it's always the independent thinkers on the left who fall for idiotic hoaxes.

Hey, at least she didn't get a Nobel Prize.

No wonder the left was so keen to embrace the whole post-modern 'no facts, just opinions' world view. They sure have a lot of bodies to bury - or not as the case may be. Still, that set me to wondering. What does it mean when a huge chunk of the population decide that objective reality is kind of a drag ?

Is it a coincidence that two of the signatures of the Blair years were people constantly yapping about 'sending the right message' and a complete inability to complete any project on time ? Why not just try getting stuff done right ?

More Victimhood Blowback

Who'd have thunk it ? Someone bases their campaign on paranoid rantings and grievance mongering, then finds support lacking among those targeted by her deranged rantings.

Well, same ol' same ol'. I'll take femiloon triumphalism seriously just as soon as these 'strong, independent women' renounce the right to sue everyone on the planet should any man speak back to them the way they speak to men. They really are the worst type of bully, the one who pretends to be a victim. Now at last Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife is finally getting some public scrutiny (chiefly because the left has found a hero even more obnoxious), suddenly the femiloons are collapsing with a collective fit of the vapours.

The Rich Are Evil

Impartial as ever, the BBC decided to title a documentary on the subprime crisis 'Super Rich: The Greed Game'. Lest we fail to pick up on that subtle hint, just about every interview was topped and tailed with footage of private jets, tropical islands, diamonds and the like.

Some would say this implies a certain degree of bias on the BBC's part. Me ? I'm just happy they specified 'Super Rich' - you wouldn't want to confuse them with the merely rich like Jonathan Ross, Graham Norton and all the other folks getting by on a few million licence payer pounds per year. Ditto, the company that produced a sickly testament to the glories of Messers Sue, Grabbit and Runne like 'New Street Law' is hardly in a position to complain about the excesses of the rich.

Still, what of the show itself ? Well, apparently, banks are evil because they lent too freely before, and also evil becuase they lend too conservatively now. The sub-prime crisis proves dog-eat-dog capitalism doesn't work, especially because government regulation meant banks could make insane deals knowing the state would pick up the pieces if it all went wrong. Also, we're going into recession because nobody's investing, but private equity firms are vultures waiting to prey on weak firms.

While it was nice to see George Soros introduced as a financier, rather than as the funder of various freak show leftist groups, I would have appreciated at least one person around to point out the role of the Community Reinvestment Act in all this. Might the number of bad loans out there be somehow connected to laws requiring banks to suspend the normal rules of underwriting ? The BBC ain't telling - after all, they need to leave space for more footage of people wearing diamond watches as they fly to Fiji on their jet.
