Must Be Those Draconian Anti-Terror Laws

Watch this and tell me these people are not completely deranged.

I'm sure the BBC would have covered the event, except they were caught in traffic, right ? Either that, or covering the deranged nature of Islamic culture would undermine the BBC's attempts to push the Blame Israel/America/the West line.

Fat Moron Talks Rubbish Again

Talking of non-hateful speech from the left, Jabbah the Hut's retarded brother has taken time out from snivelling about 'homophobia' and penning rape fantasies to rant about the homicidal tendencies of Christians (except they hide their true nature so well that only a morbidly obese Jewish pervert with an IQ leak really knows what goes on in 'church').

UPDATE:

Down in the comments, Max points out that Hari isn't actually Jewish, after all. I'm still trying to decide whether Hari having possibly been in a church once or twice makes it more or less ridiculous for him to believe - or claim to believe - that Christians are permanently hovering on the edge of a head-chopping rampage.

But At Least No One Mentioned IQ.....

As is well known, the internet is full of extremist loons, unlike the carefully-controlled world of the professional media, where balance and impartiality are everything. Take, for example, how Channel 4 balances dramas featuring British soldiers murdering innocent civilians with dramas featuring heroic suicide bombers.

Call me a harsh marker, but I'm thinking if your reaction to a political reverse is to blow up the 8:15, you're probably not really a moderate in the first place. Ditto, could the Islamopaths give us a hint as to which Islamic hell hole has the type of less 'Draconian' approach to civil rights they approve of ? Hell, even control orders - the left's Auschwitz - were only brought in after the Law Lords ruled that being a convicted terrorist should be a plus point for immigration - they might get persecuted back home, see ?

Back to the main point though, I think this is a form of bias many folks on the right underestimate. True, the bias in the (allegedly) factual output is annoying enough, but even fictional works can play their part in making the cultural weather. The ever-excellent Libertas puts its finger on the problem, albeit in a slightly different context, here:
Given the choice, I’d show a child of mine a Hostel or Saw before any film that portrayed drug use or loveless sex as liberating, adultery as a ticket to true love, or dehumanized a segment of society be they gays or soldiers; because no one’s going to kidnap a girl and torture them who wasn’t already inclined to, but people can be nudged by degrees. It’s what a film says is acceptable that often proves the most insidious. Or, as in the case of the Pedro Almodovars out there, when that which isn’t acceptable is romanticized.
Exactly. The problem with Channel 4's output isn't that it carries Islamofascist talking points - though it does - it's that it implicitly accepts the world view underlying Islamofascism: soldiers are murderous thugs, while murderous thugs are freedom fighters. Having to abide by the law of the land is oppressive, while murdering people to force them to adopt your religion is not. Infidels defending themselves from Islamic violence is a provocation. This is the world as Bin Laden sees it.

All of which would not be so bad, but these are the self-same people who twitter about hate speech. I think once you've dipped into hagiography of murder, you've pretty much lost the moral high ground.

Another 'Asian' Related Incident

In so far as the left keeps stamping its little feet over unfair generalisations, its interesting how they do love using the word 'Asian'.

Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing this guy isn't a Sikh, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, Confucian or Ba'hai.

Hmmmm.... guess they'll need a whole new set of adverts. You know, for such a tiny group of extremists, Islamofascists don't half turn up a lot. Meanwhile, I'm guessing at the likely response to an airline refusing to sell a ticket to a guy in full Islamic regalia. I'm sure all these moderate Muslims will be denouncing this guy any time now....

Also exposed: the left. They've been putting all that effort into taking out onions for the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, but the bottom line is as it always was: they think soldiers are scum. Liberals wail and whine about made up Islamophobia, even as they pat each other on the back for slandering the troops. Still, in so far as the officer concerned has withheld his name for fear of retribution, while the Islamofascist is able to carry on regardless, I'm guessing this Islamophobia may not be all its cracked up to be.

Finally, of course, there's example number 2237555 of why conservatives shouldn't get all misty-eyed over big business. Yes, it's tempting to have some sympathy with a group of businesses defamed so frequently, and so ludicrously, by leftards, but that doesn't change the fact that the corporations have been the Quislings of the culture war. I'd put good money on BP having reams of documents dealing with diverse equality multi-culti drivel, but when they find they've accidentally recruited a fascist barbarian, what happens ? Ah yes, 'retraining'. That'll work:

Welcome to training, Mr Abu Jihad. Do you mind if I call you Mohammed ?

I kill you, Infidel son of pigs and monkeys

Err....OK, Mr Jihad it is then. OK, first question: what should you do when a customer comes into your garage in uniform ?

Behead him, then take his women as your slaves

Well, actually, our new policy document, the Koran, recommends beheading, but that's close enough.

The Good News Is I've Found Where Your Money Goes...

The bad news is that you're still a Nazi if you object to paying your taxes to fund this.

It's For The Children

You know how libs claimed the supposedly critical shortage of foster carers meant gay adoption was a good idea ? I guess the shortage has been solved. Sounds like they don't need these folks anymore - not when they've got pillars of the community like this available.

Inspirational Literature For The Left

OK, it's well past time we settled accounts with the Itzavirus Squad. Remember, spare the rod, spoil the doctor. Or, to put it another way, I prescribe an injection of lead to be taken intracranially.

Actually, thinking about it, it looks like the left has stopped even trying to hide its true nature. Look at this bit:
Among his suggestions are a proposal for a smoking permit, which smokers would have to produce when buying cigarettes, an "exercise hour" to be provided by all large companies for their employees and a ban on salt in processed food.
You know, I'm sure I've heard that somewhere before....
‘Thirty to forty group!’ yapped a piercing female voice. ‘Thirty to forty group! Take your places, please. Thirties to forties!’

Winston sprang to attention in front of the telescreen, upon which the image of a youngish woman, scrawny but muscular, dressed in tunic and gym-shoes, had already appeared.

‘Arms bending and stretching!’ she rapped out. ‘Take your time by me. One, two, three, four! One, two, three, four! Come on, comrades, put a bit of life into it! One, two, three four! One two, three, four!...’

...

The instructress had called them to attention again. ‘And now let's see which of us can touch our toes!’ she said enthusiastically. ‘Right over from the hips, please, comrades. One-two! One-two!...’

Winston loathed this exercise, which sent shooting pains all the way from his heels to his buttocks and often ended by bringing on another coughing fit.
‘Smith!’ screamed the shrewish voice from the telescreen. ‘6079 Smith W.! Yes, you! Bend lower, please! You can do better than that. You're not trying. Lower, please! That's better, comrade. Now stand at ease, the whole squad, and watch me.’

A sudden hot sweat had broken out all over Winston's body. His face remained completely inscrutable. Never show dismay! Never show resentment! A single flicker of the eyes could give you away. He stood watching while the instructress raised her arms above her head and — one could not say gracefully, but with remarkable neatness and efficiency — bent over and tucked the first joint of her fingers under her toes.

‘There, comrades! That's how I want to see you doing it. Watch me again. I'm thirty-nine and I've had four children. Now look.’ She bent over again. ‘You see my knees aren't bent. You can all do it if you want to,’ she added as she straightened herself up. ‘Anyone under forty-five is perfectly capable of touching his toes. We don't all have the privilege of fighting in the front line, but at least we can all keep fit. Remember our boys on the Malabar front! And the sailors in the Floating Fortresses! Just think what they have to put up with. Now try again. That's better, comrade, that's much better,’ she added encouragingly as Winston, with a violent lunge, succeeded in touching his toes with knees unbent, for the first time in several years'.

Liberalism-Related Incident

Who'd have thunk it ? After all those years of libs campaigning to raise the age of criminal responsibility - and taking out onions for those murderous savages poor unfortunates they couldn't get off the hook - libs have now decided that criminal responsibility starts at age 4.

Ditto, FR rightly points out that that we seem to be missing that other stuff, 'evidence'. Liberals are outraged if anyone suggests airport security should pay special attention to the Bin Laden lookalike just back from six months in Pakistan, but an incident involving a native Briton ? Well, you know what those people are like.

Hey, do you think Mrs Phipps is one of those teachers we're supposed to trust to put Fat Al's sci-fi movie in context ? I mean, it's nice that even a card-carrying libtard finally acknowledges that a complete absence of evidence may indeed be suggestive of innocence, but that does tend to ram home the basic offensiveness of the whole thing. Here's a four-year old child finding himself conscripted into the left's two-minute hate. Just how utterly corrupted do you have to be to do that ?

Liberal Literary Criticism: Not Enough Men Waving Their Wands About

Raising further questions about the effects of amyl nitrate on mental health, the Pink Wedge is all-a-flutter over J K Rowling posthumously outing one of her characters. JulieM particularly liked this comment:
And a spokesman for gay rights group Stonewall added: "It's great that JK has said this. It shows that there's no limit to what gay and lesbian people can do, even being a wizard headmaster."
Yes, she's helping shatter the glass ceiling that keeps so many gays out of the vibrant magic industry.

Hmmmm...... you know, I keep hearing about how tough these guys have it in modern Britain, but then they pop up, twittering about wizards. I begin to suspect that their life is not so hellish after all.

Still, the winner of Best In Show was, inevitably, Peter Tatchell:
I am disappointed that she did not make Dumbledore's sexuality explicit in the Harry Potter book. Making it obvious would have sent a much more powerful message of understanding and acceptance."
Note to the Nu Tories: this is why your predecessors passed Clause 28.

Guilty Pleasures

....like watching England screw up the Rugby World Cup final. Hey, I wanted them to win, but you can't tell me that one second after the whistle blew we wouldn't have been buried under 8000 articles contrasting the success of the rugby team to the footy players.

That's not it though. It's that every hack MSM columnist in the country would be claiming it was a victory for rugby-related values (and not rugby league either). I don't think we need any lessons on patriotism from folks incapable of interpreting national success as anything more elevated than a chance to wage civil war.So if there's one thing to lighten the gloom, it's the thought of thousands of smug, snooty articles being deleted over the weekend.

A Really Inconvenient Truth

I've been out of the loop for a while - someone remind me, are we supposed to submit to the superior knowledge of scientists or not ? I mean we've keep getting liberals in lab coats telling us that they've scientifically proven that we need to nationalise the means of production or the polar bears will drown, but then again, I'm thinking I've found one guy who won't qualify for the left's scientists-as-unimpeachable-oracles program.

Apparently, there's science and there's science. Conservatives who refuse to sell up and move into a teepee 'hate science' but I don't think anyone on this side of the Sanity Divide is trying to jail Glotal Wormers. Plus, unlike Gonadal Worming, where groupthink is enforced by the scientific equivalent of Legbreakers & Co, all the pressure is the other way on IQ research, but this time libs are claiming consensus is no big thing (and, what's more, Mars isn't full of hyper-intelligent black dudes who roll their eyes every time Trevor Phillips is mentioned).

It turns out that libs will wax lyrical about scientists, but only when they can be trusted to support the left. Hmmmm.... why does that sound familiar ? I'd take liberal objections to people questioning black's intelligence more seriously if they hadn's spent so much time and effort denouncing a former Provost of Stanford University as a complete maroon.

That's point two, of course. In so far as IQ research postulates that a putative average white guy will outscore an average black guy, it's about as much use as discussing who'd win in a fight between Batman and Spiderman. In so far as the whole concept of IQ averaged over a whole population is fairly useless, you'd hope liberals might finally see the problem with their collectivist idiocies (and, by the way, has anyone ever checked the IQ of the average lib) ?

Of course, the left thinks the concept of IQ is ludicrous anyway. Their supa-intelligence is too broad-ranging ever to be caught in such a shallow, quantitative way. IQ tests are completely useless, except when they're not (hey, that Thomas Sowell writes well - he must be white).

In other words, the left is enraged because the science shows that when two entirely theoretical constructs are compared, one scores higher than the other on a measure they hate anyway. This is like conservatives being enraged by scientists showing that the average rightist has less ESP than a liberal.

Not that actual facts are ever important to the left. PC was never about specifics, it was about the right of liberal thugs to impose their world view on everyone else. That's why Fat Al has got his Nobel Prize for his sci-fi movie, while James Watson has been the victim of a media drive-by. Not because of the science, but because one serves the needs of leftism and one doesn't. That's all it is, that's all the left's supposedly deep thoughts ever amount to: get with the program, or they'll send the boys round.

More Freelance Activism

It baffles me why Cameron is being hailed as a great leader for the Tories' recent rise in the polls when it came about as a result of him adopting one of the very policies he set himself against, namely tax cuts.

As Guido reminds us, the impetus for this new policy didn't even come from anyone in the Nu Tory camp. Yes, the Tories eventually picked these ideas up, but then so did Brown and no one's trying to claim he's a born-again conservative. Instead, what we have here is activists setting the agenda, with the Tories arriving once the battles been won. Again. All of which is just by way of saying that as far as winning the battles of ideas in this country goes, the Tories are irrelevant.

Powerful Lobby Warping US Foreign Policy

... and it's not who you think. Nope, this time it's the 'powerful Armenian-American lobby'. Huh ?

Apparently, those Armenian rotters want the US to acknowledge the Turkish genocide of their people. There are plenty of Realpolitik reasons why this is a bad idea, but the Guardian manages to miss all of them. Instead, it takes the line that opposition to genocide is 'a matter of putting the world to rights, according to America's lights.'. Also, an example of 'Sentimentality and righteousness' - rather than, say, the left's nuanced approach to mass slaughter.

At this point you're probably thinking 'hey, how can libs object to America criticising genocide when they always complain about America not doing enough to stop genocides ?' To which I say: these are libs - coherency is not an issue. Here, in the self-same article there's an attempt to blame America for Darfur. Who cares about making sense anyway ? America is bad, that's all you need to know.

Best Headline Evah!

Deliberate self-parody or the MSM's final descent into madness ? You decide.

BBC Busted

In amongst all the slightly ludicrous frauds involving Blue Peter and the like, it's worth remembering that the BBC are quite capable of far more vicious forms of sleaze.

Consider the chutzpah of it all though. The sliming of this officer was in the cause of pushing the left-wing meme that the police suffer from a culture of corruption. Well now the BBC's case has been utterly debunked, how come we're not allowed to ask what it all says about the BBC's culture ? After all, we're talking about a publicly-funded body that tried to destroy a man's life in the service of a cop-hating agenda. Isn't that kind of - what's the word ? - ah yes, corrupt.

In so far as the BBC's efforts specifically targeted an innocent man, why should the public servants responsible for this outrage have their anonymity protected ? In so far as this smear reads like something from the unhinged left, aren't we allowed to draw our own conclusions about why the BBC won't let us know just who was behind it ? Must be another example of their 'diverse' work force in operation.

The Enemy Within

Back to today's theme of people revealing their true nature, I was delighted to read this. These people have spent years claiming that they object to hooch because of drink-driving, noise, rowdyness.... well, just about any pot and pan has been thrown boozewards, but now we know the truth. They just don't like idiot oil itself.

Needless to say, not all these people are out and out prohibitionists. Some folks will say anything to justify a tax hike, but there is a hard-core of people who just hate vitamin XXX, and now they've outed themselves.

Cruel, But Funny

The voice is great too...and after 4:00, it really gets going.

All (Lefties) Must have Prizes

Personally, I'm made up that Al Goreon got the chance to join the club. Anything that helps lower the ridiculously inflated reputations of these tranzi institutions is fine with me - giving a prize to a whiny charlatan certainly counts.

Even so, that wasn't the most ridiculous award announcement this week. Instinct tells me that hell will freeze over before we get any of these people paying tribute to the courage of Lady Thacther, Ann Coulter or Melanie Phillips. The whole crowd scene of awards, honorary degrees, Oscars and the rest is just the intellectual equivalent of liberals taking in each others washing.

Sainsburys To British: Get Lost (But Leave Your Wallet Behind)

I couldn't get too worked up about Sainsbury's experiment in dhimmitude. I regarded it as poetic justice: recruit cheap, but insane, Islamopaths, find yourself with one hell of a camel in the tent.

Apparently, other folk must have felt the same, so now they've decided to ram the point home:
Sainsbury's said that it will employ more immigrant workers because they have a "superior" work ethic.

The supermarket chain said it hopes the diligent approach of Eastern Europeans and other new arrivals will spread to domestic workers.
It gets better:
Sainsbury's said that more could be done to help migrant workers get advice on housing, banking, language and understanding the UK culture.

"Language barriers are a disadvantage, and migrants understanding of health and safety requirements are naturally a major concern," said the company.
Yes, indeed: more could be done. What are you waiting for ? Let's fork over our taxes so huge corporations can replace us with cheap labour.

It's The Iran-Iraq Of The Culture War

Does the ladder of victimhood really exist ? Consider that the BBC's employment of ex-Sun editor Kelvin Mackenzie as a pundit is under fire, not because he's a known fraud who was the main player in smearing nearly a hundred dead civilians, many of them children. Nope, libs are down with that, it's just claiming the People's Republic of Caledonia isn't much of a place for business they can't stand.

Still, I can't help thinking that they may just have found the only bad reason to criticise Mackenzie. Consider the basic chutzpah of it all. These people keep quoting William Wallace's line about England being a land foreign to them, but now a foreigner in the aforementioned foreign land has spoken out against them, they claim the right to impose their views of permitted speech on this foreign land. Huh ?

At risk of stating the obvious, Mackenzie is a pundit known for extreme rhetoric, while the SNP is an successful Scottish political party that doesn't so much have a platform as a series of unhinged conspiracy theories - I'm thinking Scottish claims to victimhood will have to wait until being a semi-literate anti-English bigot is no longer considered a plus point with the Scottish electorate.

Ironically enough, nothing makes Mackenzie's point like the reaction to his appearance. Scots trundle along to the polling station to vote for a bunch of Neanderthal racists, but cast themselves as victims when someone points out the blindingly obvious point that socialism doesn't exactly encourage the entrepreneurial spirit. See, that's the other knock on socialism: it's turned a bunch of hard-drinking sociopaths into whiny girly men.

Diversity!

Guess what profession liberals are talking about here:
But supporters of the scheme, supported by the London Development Agency (LDA), say greater diversity is in the long-term interests of the profession.

Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone [said]

"This will make London an even more attractive place to companies around the world whose business we wish to attract."
These people are insane.

More On 'Attack of the Killer Capitalists'

There's a nice summary here of the judgement in Stewart Dimmock's lawsuit against the government showing Fat Al's movie in schools. I didn't realise the judge had actually gone as far as pointing out specirfic inaccuracies.

Again, to ram the point home, this is all down to one guy taking on the liberal establishment.

Sounds Fine To Me

Belgium is a "laboratory," says Joelle Milquet, the leader of the French-speaking Humanist Democratic Center party and a defender of both a united Belgium and EU. "If 10 million people in a developed country do not manage to build a collective project," she told Britain's Telegraph newspaper, "that would signal the bankruptcy of what one tries to build at the European and even international level."
Jonah Goldberg covers Belgium and what it says for the EU. The point I think he's missing is that it is entirely in the EU's interest for these breakdown's to happen. It's divide and rule, plus the new states (statelets ?) will only be viable under the EU's umbrella.

Tories Dealing With The Bottom Line

Further proof of the Tories' intellectual subsidance is visible in their (non) reaction to the Great Fireman Scandal. Of course, there's the obvious dilemma for Call Me Dave. On the one hand, 90% of the public are enraged by all this, on the other, grovelling to the Pink Wedge is pretty much the signature feature of the Nu Tories, so I guess this will be the one time they decide electability isn't so important after all. But there's more to it than that.

Enormous amounts of cake have been had and eaten by the Cameroonatics. They wax lyrical about the family even as they claim 'equality' demands they keep giving ground to the Pink Wedge. Well now the wheels have come off. When the Pink Wedge demand the right to have sex in public places - and remember, at least one A-Lister has already endorsed that position - that hardly comes under any obvious definition of 'equality'. Nope, it turns out they're an advocacy group with an agenda, you know, kind of like all those fascists on the right always said they were.

That sound you can hear is the fence collapsing under Cameron. Sooner or later, he's going to have to either break with the Pink Wedge, or stop yammering about 'families'. Take this story here. You can say it's a heart-warming tale of a guy who has finally broken free after years of living a lie, or maybe you think it's a squalid tale of a guy who abandoned his wife and kids because he wanted to have sex with someone else. Either position is debatable, except we soon won't be allowed to debate one of them.

To the point: there's a basic incompatibility between the doctrine of the gay rights movement and traditional values. You can't, for example, hold as your highest value 'being true to yourself' and fulfil family responsibilities. That's not to say people shouldn't be free to choose their own lifestyles, just that waxing lyrical about the 'family' even while you undermine it shouldn't fool anyone.

Quote D'Jour

An e-mailer to NRO sums up what the left means by patriotism:
The great, truly patriotic reformers of American history have the country for what it is despite its flaws, which they dedicated themselves to amending. It's only of late, under the influence of Marxism and the tumult of the '60s (perhaps the Kennedy assassination, if you believe that guy's new book) in which you see large numbers of people expressing the loopy theoretical proposition that you can despise your country out of love for it, which seems to be the bottom line for a lot of petty university-educated intellectuals these days.

Physisican, Heal Thyself!

Who'd have thunk it ? Islamic yoofs involved in a murder plot. Given that anyone on the right only has to mouth the word 'immigration' to assume responsibility for all racial attacks for the next three months, I have no doubt our nation's self-appointed guardians of responsible debate will be equally vocal in condemning those who explicitly call for violence against BNP members, mmmmmmmmmmmm ?

Hey, unlike David Cameron, I'm a real conservative, and so normally I'd quite happily put the blame for violence on the violent, but it just so happens that the folks who've been the strongest advocates of violence collect regular pay checks from an organisation that's continually issuing finger-wagging sermons about the dangers of 'extremism'.

You May Not Be Interested In Culture War, But Culture War Is Interested In You

Not the least ludicrous of the left's charges against the right is that we 'moralise'. This apparently means that we treat, say, adultery as a bad thing, rather than chill out and relax the way leftists do when they see a fox hunter driving his 4x4 to a job in the City.

Nevertheless, there is no charge against conservatives so ludicrous that the Nu Tories will not take it on board - although there may be other reasons why Call Me Dave's big bag of aristocratic wastrels and yuppie scum don't feel comfortable talking about morality. Whatever the reason, the Tory top brass would rather take a job in the real world than talk about morality. The only problem is that, as Janet Daly points out, that reluctance undercuts the rest of their platform.

It's all very well to construct logical arguments why, say, school vouchers lead to a better educational system overall, but as long as leftists can cast these policies as an excuse for the filthy rich to abandon the poor and hapless, it's going to be an uphill struggle bringing them in. You need to explain why vouchers are morally right - for example, they change taxpaying parents from forelock-tugging supplicants to valued customers.

That word again: metacontext. As long as the left is able to define the terms of engagement, conservatives are going to lose. For proof of just how far down the rabbit hole we've gone, consider the issue of paedophilia. How on earth did we get to the point where the left was able to portray setting predators loose to strike again was the compassionate option ? Actually, I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure anyone in the Tory Party does.

Political Suicide Too

Like a lot of conservatives, I'm never too happy about the free market. I mean, I accept the whole efficiency thing, I just don't think that's the only consideration. We're all in favour of 'wasting' public money if it'll serve a cultural objective.

Naturally enough, libertarians don't feel the same way, hence why I think FBJ misses an important point here. Yes, this insane strike will help push the Royal Mail further towards irrelevance, but there's more to it than just the technology. Plenty of conservatives were willing to go on supporting even a shambolic mail service as a vital part of the nation's infrastructure, but now we find that the unions are using their privileged position to hold the nation to ransom.

Well, screw that! Infrastructure is only useful if it works. If these people can't actually deliver the mail, why bother with them ? Remove the monopoly, and let UPS do their worst.

Robert Spencer On Marketing Jihad

Robert Spencer weighs in on the Islamonazis propaganda campaign, and the truly Orwellian use of language it employs.

Who You Gonna Believe ? Me Or Your Lying Eyes ?

Hmmmm.... the BS meter just pegged in the red. What can it all mean ?

Ah yes:
An advertising campaign promoting British Muslims as integrated citizens who reject extremism has been launched.

Islam is Peace - formed after the bombings in London in July 2005 - has initially placed adverts on the capital's buses and Underground trains.
Seems like overkill to me - didn't they already had a campaign on the capitals trains and buses in July 2005 ?
They show a range of Muslims - including a policewoman, a Scout group and the chef Michael Barry - with the slogan "Proud to be a British Muslim".

Organisers say research shows many Britons associate Islam with terrorism.
Yes, and we even have a word for those people: sane.
The group insists that the religion demands that its followers live in peace with their neighbours within non-Muslim societies.
Except it also demands they Islamise non-Muslim societies, so I think we're allowed to ask what kind of society these people want to create.
But it says it recognises that Muslims have a duty to show that the vast majority of them wish to do so.
Yes, while Muslims support the murder of homosexuals, the 'vast majority' will refrain from killing them just yet. Hooray for Muslims!

I'm really struggling to think of another demographic where restricting themselves to merely supporting murderous savagery, rather than actively taking part in it, is supposed to be evidence of morality.
After the initial London campaign, Islam Is Peace intends to launch a nationwide tour.

Ifhat Shaheen-Smith, one of the campaign organisers, said: "In the current atmosphere of suspicion and fear about Islam and British Muslims, truth is often confused with fabrications and stereotypes.
...but fortunately the blogosphere is here to fact-check these weasels.
Prejudice has become entrenched and sensationalistic media reporting is creating a climate of paranoia.
To paraphrase Chris Rock, when people check over their shoulder to see who's getting on the plane with them, they're not looking out for Jeremy Paxman.
There is a desperate need for openness, mutual understanding and a mature debate.
Yep, these people, they're all about the openness and debate.
Following the 7 July bombings, the group has spent tens of thousands of pounds placing adverts in national newspapers in which Muslims reject extremism.
Say, are we allowed to know where these 'tens of thousands of pounds' come from ?
Sadiq Khan MP said: "This is a fantastic initiative. Islam is a faith whose primary focus is peace and submission to one God.
See, that's kind of the whole problem, the whole 'peace and submission' package deal. Put together like that it kind of makes it obvious that there's no peace without submission.
"This campaign will help to bust some of the myths about Islam and allow the true face of Islam to reach all parts of our country."
Unless it's a female face, in which case we'll only get to see the eyes.
Secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain Muhammad Abdul Bari said: "The silent majority of Muslims are coming forward and now challenging the islamophobia in sections of our media - it is a brave undertaking."
No, 'brave' would be challenging the terrorists - something this gang of fascist creeps would never do in a million years.
The campaign is launched as a new law banning incitement to religious hatred comes into force.
Yes, they've bravely launched a campaign against people who can't answer back. Now that's the true face of Islam.

The Seinfeld Of Politics

This Cameron coddling is getting out of control. Yes, he managed to give his speech without notes, but it's not like he was talking nuclear physics is it ? Nope, in so far as the speech was an ultra-bland series of highlights from Hallmark cards, it wasn't like he was going to alienate any key demographics by accidentally refering to puppies as 'cute' rather than 'loveable' - although that's not to say that he doesn't find kittens cute and loveable as well.

What was remarkable about the speech was not that it was short on content, it's that content had been ruthlessly cleansed from it. It was a series of ludicrously unobjectionable ends provided absent any hint of means. An alien visiting from another planet would have left with no greater idea of the issues at stake at the end than at the beginning.

Cranmer was more enthusiastic about the speech than me, but I think he's right to point out the post-modern nature of Cameroonacy. We've had Seinfeld, a show about nothing, now we got Cameron, a politician without policies.

Coulter D'Jour

Coulter on the MSM's preference for certain types of whistleblowers:
According to a Military Times survey taken in September 2004, active-duty military personnel preferred President Bush to Kerry by about 73 percent to 18 percent. Sixty percent describe themselves as Republican and less than 10 percent call themselves Democrat (the same 10 percent that MSNBC has on its speed-dial). Even among the veterans, Republicans outnumber Democrats 46 percent to 22 percent."

So there aren't a lot of anti-war military types for the media to turn into this month's "It Girl." (If conservatives ran the media, there would be a constant stream of government employees admitting to sloth and incompetence, welfare recipients admitting to being welfare cheats and public schoolteachers who support school vouchers.)

Who'd Have Thunk It ?

James Purnell MP, the notorious foto-fraud, turns out to have picked up the tricks of the trade working for Britain's Bestest Company.

Imagine What We Could Do With Two Lorry Drivers

Latest update on the court case over the government decision to make schools show Fat Al Gore's sci-fi movie 'Attack of the Killer Capitaists': sadly, it appears that combined might of the British state will defeat a lone yorkie eater after all. On the plus side, check out the judge's comments:
Mr Justice Burton is due to deliver a ruling on the case next week, but yesterday he said he would be saying that Gore's Oscar-winning film does promote 'partisan political views'.

This means that teachers will have to warn pupils that there are other opinions on global warming and they should not necessarily accept the views of the film.

He said: 'The result is I will be declaring that, with the guidance as now amended, it will not be unlawful for the film to be shown.'
True, I'm guessing the enhanced guidance will be pretty worthless but the point is still made: Fat Al's movie is not some apolitical recitation of the facts, it's a virulently ideological piece of work and now no one can deny it.

Again, not to hammer the point home, but if you were waiting for the Tories to oppose compulsory indoctrination in schools, you'd have been sadly disappointed. A lone voter has done more damage to indoctrucation than the whole of our main 'right-wing' party. That's why the Nu Tories are deluded when they claim traditional conservatives don't have anywhere else to go. There's a whole flotilla of grass roots bodies fighting their own particular segment of the culture war, and achieving far more than Call Me Dave's increasingly irrelevant party.

Don't Sound Very Irrelevant To Me

Call me cynical, but I'm not quite ready to believe David 'fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists' Cameron is a born-again Eurosceptic - at least not without an explanation of just where along this particular road to Damascus his conversion occurred.

As one of Cranmer's commentors point out, Call Me Dave's promise of referenda for further treaties is worthless. The European Non-Constitution is self-amending - it's a sort of Reader's Digest bookclub of treaties: once you're signed up, new clauses are added every month without you needing to take any action. For a guy who's position boils down to 'Trust me, you bunch of nutters', this sleight of hand hardly bodes well.

More to the point, I'm unsure about the idea that the Tories taking a Eurosceptic line makes UKIP irrelevant. On the contrary, for over three decades the Tory face cards have been drinking le kool aid euro but it's only now they need the 'fruitcakes' voting for them that they've suddenly remembered how sceptical they are. If eurosceptism amongst the Tory grass roots counted for anything, Call Me Dave wouldn't have to suddenly back-flip now. Nope, as long as the Tory grass roots were content to keep mumbling into their drinks, but still stay onboard, they had absolutely no influence on the party. It's only now that UKIP offers a genuinely Eurosceptic alternative that the Tories have suddenly discovered that they're Eurosceptic too. In other words, the folks who left the Tories to join UKIP has managed to have more influence on Tory policy than any number of drones, desperately sucking up whatever their top brass puts out.

See, I Told You

It's the JPost doing the job British journalists just won't do!

(A tip of the hat to JJR - but I'm sure the all the leftists who were just enraged by a certain other eastern businessman's attempts to close down free speech will be pitching in soon, right ?)

Must Be Some Kind Of Curse ?

Apparently, as a left-wing think tank, the IPPR is allowed to hint at the blindingly obvious:
They figures show that Somalis in Britain are the worst- off migrant group. Fewer than one in five has a job and four out of five live in subsidised council or housing association homes.
That's how decadent the British have become: now even unemployment is a job they won't do.
But some migrant groups have failed to turn educational success into economic success. Groups whose children have not done well in school include Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Turks and Somalis.
Clearly, more research is needed to try and find if there is some kind of common factor here. Well, that or the IPPR's licence to tell the truth only goes so far.

Danger! Show May Contain Traces Of Conservatism

I too find myself wondering when exactly an absence of functioning genitals became a qualification for working for the Telegraph - although Ross actually put it differently.

Then again, I'm still wondering about the same thing as last time this came up. As I understand the left's position, a single TV program can cause professional soldiers to start torturing all and sundry, but there's no connection between the approximately 8 billion shows that feature absurdly hip and attractive people indulging in consequence-free drug abuse, criminality and sexual bulimia, and any of our nation's social pathologies. Perish the thought.

You know, it really gives the lie to the media's claims to be balanced when the merest hint of a right-wing slant to a mainstream show has the left forming lynch mobs. After all, it's not as if '24' is even particularly conservative. Au contrair, in so far as the terrorists always turn out to be working for a secret cabal of Kansas corn barons, or whatever, pretty much every season flirts with Trutherism to a greater or lesser extent. More to the point, as Ace explains, the show's metacontext is a distinctly left-wing one:
What is the basic plotline of every season?

America, essentially in a reactive posture against terrorism, catches wind of a terrorist plot at the last possible moment, usually almost precisely 24 hours before the Big Bang and often indadvertantly (i.e., not through proactive means and certainly not via military adveturism).

There is no need of messy invasions or pre-emptive unilateral military actions; America always gets lucky, just in time, and finds out it's about to be hit.

At this point law enforcement personnel move with incredible speed and unerring instict to thwart the plot by using, by and large, conventional law-enforcement techniques such as wiretapping, bugging, tailing, and simply reading files, and are always able to stop terrorism without ever leaving American soil (or, indeed, moving 30 miles beyond Los Angeles), and all without violating the national sovereigty of a single tyrannical foreign hellhole.

Indeed, every 24 episode could close with the declaration, No kite-flying children were harmed in the making of this production.

Isn't this the way terrorism is supposed to be fought in the collective fantasia of leftists?

Watching The TV The British Just Won't Watch

It must be Devil's Kitchen day here at the House of Dumb: Martin's watching bad TV so you don't have to. He points out something that's annoyed me for a while: liberals waxing lyrical over how wonderful open borders are for business.

When exactly did the left decide that Sir Tristan D'kfiend being able to pay his staff less was a good thing ? Ah yes: about the time they realised the British working class were finally shrugging off the insanities of socialism. In a very real sense, open borders is the left's revenge on the working man for the 1987 election.

Are We Sure The 'A' Is For 'Atheist' ?

Uh oh - looks like another victim group is nudging up to the trough:
I have had many letters from people saying 'I don't dare give my opinions. I am afraid of my family. I am afraid of my wife, I am afraid of my husband. I am afraid of my work people. I am afraid of being fired'."
Run for your lives everybody! The Christians are coming!

Hmmmm... what are they going to do ? Bore us to death ?

Seriously, these people keep claiming there's nothing unmanly about liberalism, but then they claim to be scared rigid by the Jesus freaks. What's with that ?

Not that The Dawk is motivated by a monomaniacal hatred of Christianity - there's a whole other bunch of people he hates as well:
When you think about how fantastically successful the Jewish lobby has been, though, in fact, they are less numerous I am told - religious Jews anyway - than atheists and [yet they] more or less monopolise American foreign policy as far as many people can see. So if atheists could achieve a small fraction of that influence, the world would be a better place.
So that's both Christians and Jews that are oppressing The Dawk - he's really not going to like Jesus then.

Personally, words can't describe my shock on finding a prominent Oxbridge academic pushing retarded anti-Semitic libels - although words like 'not' 'at' and 'all' come pretty close - but it does kind of ram home the central problem with Dawkism.

The Dawk claims to be a standard bearer for science and rationality, but you don't have to delve too deep before you start to suspect he's something of a shill for the unhinged left. There's nothing logical about believing in stupid conspiracy theories about the 'Jewish lobby'. Ditto, where's the science in pushing easily debunked myths about US domestic policy, like this:
Obviously stem cell research and all the interference with scientific research that goes on [should stop].
Never mind that The Dawk isn't actually saying what he appears to be saying here, and just concentrate on the sleight of hand. No one's 'interfering' with stem cell research in the US. The Federal government won't fund research on a certain subset of stem cells - embryonic ones - but that doesn't mean anyone else can't - including other layers of government.

In other words, The Dawk's position only stands up if you define 'interference' as 'failing to believe that federal tax dollars should be used to fund morally dubious research of questionable utility'. True, Christians oppose embryonic stem cell research for religious reasons, but then femiloons support it as 'second front' for abortion rights. Who cares ? The science is the science - or it should be.

Far be it from me to criticise anyone for going low early, but then I don't claim to be the Oliver Cromwell of Science, speaking truthiness to power. That's the problem with The Dawk, the double dipping. He claims to be the voice of reason, but he splashes round in the sewer just as much as anyone else.

Say what you like about creationists, at least they're upfront about their motivation. Meanwhile, The Dawk conjures up pretendey persecutions and imaginary interference, all in the cause of justifying his agenda of vile liberal fascism. Don't mock him though - he'll only claim you're oppressing him.

If He's That Rich, How Come He Can't Buy A Clue ?

Actually, I'm pretty sure that - as with much modern liberalism - half the time this sort of thing is just a way of subtly boasting about being so rich you can even throw money down the drain and not notice it. Still, he might actually mean it, in which case I have no option but to cite P J O'Rourke:
There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it. A politician who portrays himself as caring and sensitive because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he is willing to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't? And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he will do good with his own money— if a gun is held to his head.
