What is left out is that the groups defending their turf shook out along ethnic lines. Turks, Sikhs and, the horror, whites as well.
The only spontaneous multiethnic groups were the looters themselves, though still mainly black.
For the first time in history the BBC refused to use the phrase "vigilante group", but they were referring to Asians, so they used "defenders of their community" instead.
