Still a scumbag though!
Hey, we're moving towards elected police chiefs - no thanks to 'sir' Al's Labour Party - so I guess we'll soon find out if the Great British Public want their money spent on real police officers, or on paying grandstanding berks in uniform to act like the Polly Toynbee of Solihull.
UPDATE:
Thinking further about this, consider the contrast between this guy and the Cop Bloggers. Police Officers informing the public about how a public service goes about its business have to metaphorically write wearing dark glasses and a false beard, meanwhile this guy can denounce members of the public while hiding behind his badge and no one bats an eyelid. Is that the perfect example of the Nu Police's demented worldview or what?

He looks like a right smug bastard. I'd hazard a wee bet that if his force's performance was analysed a little more closely it would show that instead of them nicking people for cussing, they are smiling and laughing with pissed yobs instead, just for an easy life.
I can't blame beat coppers for that when the whole estsblishment thinks that way, but i can call this copper a show boating wanker for what he wrote.

Yup!
Unlikely to change any time soon, either, if the 'Indy' article this morning on the search for former MPs and 'celebrities' to stand for the position of elected police chief is any indication...
Granted, Sir Alex and Wayne Rooney have been ostentatiously unsporting lately.
It is, however, a measure of just how foully we are mis-governed that makes them look better than the politicians who actually run our lives.
